Chapter 1

SONG: THESE BOOTS ARE MADE FOR WALKING - NANCY SINATRA

ALL LEGENDS ARE BORN IN TRUTH...

"From the Amazon came the legend of the Tears of the Moon. A single petal from the great Tree could cure illness and break any curse. Over centuries, many expeditions went searching for the Healing Tears of legend. None more famous than that of a conquistador Don Lope de Aguirre, who was determined to possess the Tears' power." MacGregor began to tell the story of what he wished to seek, well his sister. As MacGregor continued with his story as small, frail body of a young girl appeared squeezing through a small gap she made herself with the door. Tiptoeing as quietly as she could sitting down next to the familiar woman that was her mother Lily, who was the sister of the man giving the speech currently.

"What are you doing here and not at home?!" Lily whispered loudly to her disobedient child, earning a few glares and a few shushes from the ladies at around them above from the men who were apart of the club that MacGregor and Lily were trying to grant permission from to go on an expedition, and to receive something from their archives needed for the trip. "1. Mary who you hired to keep me company is rubbish at it and 2. She isn't easily awoken from her sleep, so I snuck out because I was bored." Rose whispered back not wanting to earn any more attention from anyone. She sunk in her seat crossing her arms at the stare her received from her mother knowing she were going to get it in the ear when back at home.

"Sit up." Lily nudged Rose making her sit up properly with a huff of frustration. "We may not be like the other people in this city but at least you can be a lady in public. Sit straight." Rose rolled her eyes at her mothers demands, it wasn't like she was exactly a perfect lady in public, seeing as she usually sits with one leg over the other and always crossing her arms, earning shocked expressions from everyone around her, but that's what she loved about her mother, she didn't give two damns.

"I assert that the famous legend of the Tears of the Moon is not a myth but scientific truth." Rose's Uncle MacGregor continued with his speech, Lily whispering along to herself seeing as she was the one who had written it for him, again seeing as this was her proposition and her dream of an adventure.

"One that could revolutionise modern medicine, curing illnesses that not only scourge our cities, but cut down more of our soldiers in the trenches than German bullets. I have come here today to request access to your exclusive archives..." MacGregor repeated his request, well again his sister's request, for the access to the archives earning groans from all the members, getting tired of telling the man and his sister, once, no!

"...including an ancient Arrowhead recently recovered from the lost expedition of Dr. Albert Falls. The Arrowhead represents the missing piece that will finally unlock the location of, pause for dramatic effect, the...The Tears of the Moon." Lily nodded at her brother as the members of the club began, they're moaning and groaning all over again. Lily was about to turn to her daughter to tell her to stay put but was met with an empty chair besides.

"This child will be the death of me." Lily sighed getting up from her seat going along with her original plan of sneaking into the archive room to retrieve the Arrowhead, hoping to find a mischievous daughter on the way.

Lily hurriedly strolled through the long hallways of the building trying to find her way to the archives but first of all to find Rose. She turned a corner with her focus elsewhere causing her to bump into a man known as Prince Joachim.

"Oh terribly sorry." Lily chuckled.

"Hello." The Prince gave Lily a slight smile whilst continuing to inspect an antique.

"Hello." Lily replied politely.

"Shaka Zulu." The Prince held up the antique slightly referring to the original owner of it and Lily nodded in agreement from her own knowledge of the famous antique. "Through one simple act of innovation, he came to dominate all his enemies from the..."

"There was that, but also the encirclement tactic." Lily shrugged as she interrupted the man adding on more facts to the man's knowledge.

"You are not where you ought to be." The man spoke through his teeth out of annoyance that Lily interrupted him and made it seem like she was smarter than him, because it was true, completely ignoring Lily's fact she previously made.

"Yes. You're right. Uh, I think I..." Lily was about to ask where the archives room was thinking of a typical excuse of woman would need to use to get into the archive room, but also wanting to ask if he had seen a child run about.

"The secretaries' gallery is that way." The Prince smiled pointing to the staircase behind him.

"Thank you so much." Lily put a smile on her face before rushing up the stairs behind him rolling her eyes once out of sight at the man's sexist comment. As she walked into the room, she needed to enter for the archives room to look for the key, as she turned around from closing the door quietly, confused on how its was already open having to expect top pick the lock she was met with the face of her daughter who had a cheeky smirk painted on her face.

"Thought you would be quicker than that mum, I mean children aren't even allowed in the building and yet who got here first?" Rose laughed to herself even when her mother stormed towards her grabbing her arm walking her towards the door.

"I want you to go home right now! No funny business! No arguing with me! Home, now!" Lily demanded then glaring at Rose once Rose stopped herself and Lily from dragging her out the room.

"Don't you need this though?" She pulled the key for the archive room of your coat pocket.

"How did you-"

"You don't think I would have learned how to pick a lock with a hair clip with you raising me?" Rose smirked as Lily rolled her eyes before taking the key from your hands. "Oh, your welcome then."

"Home now!"

"Now offense Mum but I think you need me here." Before she could argue back a man entered the room demanding them to leave saying it was only for Society members, Rose and her mother acting oblivious as the man pondered on how you even got in here. Lily quickly acting innocent dabbed her neck wither hanky before pressing it into the man's face, having it being drenched with chloroform sending the man unconscious.

Rose and Lily hurriedly rushed out of the room, the subject of you going home far outside of your mother's worries, leaving the man on the floor. "I have the best mum in the world." Rose stated to yourselves whilst quickly following Lily to the archive room to retrieve the Arrowhead.
