Vada and Mia were best friends. They were so close that sometimes their peers at school misunderstood them as a couple. However, in your eyes, they truly were just that — best friends, nothing more. The two of them always attended your volleyball practices, sitting together in the bleachers and exchanging giggles. You knew that one of them had a crush on you, but you weren't sure who it was. If you had to make a guess, your safe bet would've been Mia. She was the one who often avoided eye contact with you and seemed shy around your presence, especially when she was alone.

When she was with Vada, she was the opposite. A clear example was her cackling during your volleyball practices with Vada. It was interesting how her demeanor would change when she was with Vada, but you couldn't help but laugh. One time, Vada and Mia were riding their bicycles back and forth in front of your house, laughing and trying to get your attention. When you stepped out to say hi, Mia stumbled and fell down. Concerned, you went to help her and even offered to put a bandage on her injured knee, but she refused and left. You watched them depart with their bicycles, feeling confused. You could've sworn you heard Vada shouting at Mia, "You're so stupid! You had her right there, she was going to help you, oh my god!"

However, they were already too far for you to hear the rest. You smiled and shook your head. If they thought they were being sneaky with the whole trying to get your attention dilemma, they were failing miserably. That's how you somewhat guessed that Mia was the one infatuated with you. Additionally, the day the science teacher paired you up with Mia to dissect a frog was another noticeable encounter with her that left you pensive.

"Are you okay, Mia?" you asked, concerned, as you watched her chest heaving anxiously.

"Yeah, it's just... um, the frog. Yeah, this dead frog is freaking me out," she rushed her words, her cheeks visibly red.

"Oh, um, don't worry. If you want, I'll dissect it, okay?" you assured her, and she nodded, biting her bottom lip.

"Okay..."

It was then that Vada passed by your table and casually remarked, "Scared of the frog? Since when, Mia? I definitely think you're just nervous about your partner."

With that, Vada left running as Mia chased after her.

You shook your head, and smiled.

That's why you had a hunch that it was Mia who had a crush on you. You wanted to ask her, but in reality, you were afraid to do so. Despite your usual confidence that made you stand out, the thought of posing that question to Mia was intimidating. What if your assumption was all in your head and she wasn't actually crushing on you? To spare yourself the potential embarrassment, you chose to remain silent.

But deep down, you desperately hoped that your intuition was correct. After all, Mia was undeniably beautiful.

One night you were walking down the sidewalk of your block, with your Sherman Shepherd leashed, when you saw a drunk Tara and Vada dancing in the middle of the street.

Curiously, you stood there watching them. Were they coming out from a party? You thought, seeing that the two girls were holding a bottle of alcohol in their hands.

At first, it was a bit amusing to watch them behave like that, especially Mia. However, when you realized that they were alone, in the middle of the street, and completely drunk, you knew it wasn't safe for either of the two girls.

With the strap of your dog's leash gripped around your wrist, you pulled him along towards Vada and Mia.

As soon as they spotted you, they burst into giggles. "Hey, were you guys at a party or something?" you asked with a smile, while your dog sniffed their shoes.

"Oh my god! So freaking adorable!" Vada exclaimed, bending down to pet him. Mia followed suit, and the two girls completely ignored your question.

After a while, they stood up, and with a tipsy Vada, she cheekily smiled at you.

"Oh god, Mia! Look, it's actually your girlfriend!" she chirpily screamed, pointing at you. Finally, they decided to acknowledge your presence.

Vada and Mia looked at each other and started jumping up and down.

" I don't think you guys are safe out here, you know? Not in the state you girls are in," You concerned told them, but while they stumbled side to side, Mia shook her head.

" Y/n, I act-actually w-wanna kiss y-you so bad. I love y-you!," Mia stuttered, smiling as Vada giggled. This took you completely by surprise, and you felt your cheeks starting to get red. Thank god it was nighttime and these two were wasted to even notice.

" Y-You finally s-said it! Oh my g-god!," Vada congratulated her, both of them hugging each other.

" I-I know! I-I'm going to f-freaking cry!," Mia shouted, Vada beginning to get sentimental.

" Girl-I am the one who is g-going to cry!"

" Vada, Mia, please let me take you girls home. Is not safe to be out here like that," You worriedly, offered. As much as your heart was beating out of your chest at what Mia was confessing, you still care for their safety more than anything.

" Will y-you kiss m-me when I get h-home?," Mia asked, and you chuckled, refusing to answer that.

" Let's go, please," You pleaded.

" H-hey! She a-asked you a question!," Vada shouted, stumbling side to side. God, they were totally buzzed.

" Yeah, of course I'll kiss you, Mia. You're beautiful, who wouldn't want to kiss you?," You smiled, and they both started to jump up and down. You chuckled, and just shook your head. You knew they were going to forget what you said in the morning, that's why you easily blurted it out.

But in someway, you really hoped for Mia to recall it.

" Okay, let's go home, please," You concluded, watching how the two girls began to walk in front of you, giggling. This was sure the best night of their life. And somewhat, yours too. You just hoped what Mia confessed on her tipsy state was actually true, and out from her heart.
