Sofia stopped her truck by the abandoned park where you and her have spent the last three months practicing baseball. The all-star league tryouts were coming up and you were determined to teach the brunette everything you knew about the sport. After all, you wanted Sofia to achieve that dream you sadly couldn't accomplish. For health reasons, that dream of going to play under the same sole your idol, Babe Ruth, ever stepped foot in, couldn't be realized.

Cystic fibrosis was the villain of the story. Your lungs stopped working properly. Advanced treatments haven't worked on you for the last year, making your life expectancy way lower than what they thought. At any given moment, your lungs could give out. And you knew that day was approaching fast. You could feel it as your body weakened by each passing day.

Sofia didn't know this. But that was until today. And she found out when your mother  accidentally told her about your sickness. Rushing out of your house by the unfortunate news, she now was parked at the park-contemplating. Sofia was angry, sad, confused. She wondered why you kept this a secret from her.

The park was a few minutes away from your house. So when she left, you knew exactly where Sofia was headed. With a quick walk to the destination, you saw her still sitting inside of the truck.

You walked there, and with a knock on her window, she looked at you.

" Can you roll down the window, please?," You mimic the action, and she slowly did so. Sofia looked sad. " I'm sorry, okay?"

" I don't understand, Y/n. Why did I have to hear that from your mom and not you? Why did you keep this away from me?," She questioned with hurt, as those words rolled out of her tongue.

" Sofia, I-I never thought we were going to become this close. You moved to this neighborhood a couple of months ago and-and when I saw you practicing that day alone at this park, I wanted to help you get in the leagues," You started to explain. " Because I want you to go far. I want you to live that moment for me, Sofia. I didn't think this trajectory was going to make us fall in love with each other. I didn't want that, but it happened an-," Sofia cut you off, as she opened the truck door and got out.

" Y/n, I can't go to the leagues if you're not there," She began to cry, tears flowing down her cheeks. That look hurt you so much. You have never seen her cry. " Honestly, I don't care about baseball anymore," she whimpered, shoving her head onto your shoulder as she cried.

You swallowed the knot that was forming on your throat, wrapping your arms around the girl that was showing you her vulnerable side. " Sofia...please don't cry..," You whispered, your lips trembling.

" No, Y/n. If one of us dies, I hope I die first." Her bottom lip quivered, salty tears running down against it. " Because I really don't wanna live without you...," She took a shaky breath, pulling away from your shoulder to look at you.

Your eyebrows furrowed, as your first tear ran down from your left cheek. " Sofia...don't say that. Whatever happens, i will always be with you," You whispered, cleaning her tears with your thumb.

A year later

" And that's a win for the Minnesota Girls! Unbelievable play by Sofia Carson!," the commentator voice was heard from the speakers of the stadium, as the commotion went wild at Sofia's homerun. Winning the championship for the team.

Sofia smiled, a tear escaping down her cheek as her team picked her up and cheered for her.

She looked at the bleachers and imagined you there. A huge smile plastered on your face, as Babe Ruth stood by your side.

" This is for you, Y/n....," Sofia whispered, while you blew her a kiss. She giggled, wiping her tears away from her cheek as she came back to reality. Where the uproar continued at her victory.
