Chapter 17 - Right or wrong?

Izuku was sat in the Batcave, currently securing the 'Babel' file on the batcomputer. He had just finished creating countermeasures against all of class 1-A and the school faculty along with some pros and villains. He prayed he would not have to use any of these plans but one day, he might. For now however, it was time to go eat with the class and his two girls. Izuku approached the tube to transport himself back to the U.A dorms to eat food before his patrol. This was a special patrol tonight as Eri would finally be joining him in the field.

He finally arrived at his room and made his way down the stairs to meet everyone. When he got there, everyone was sat in front of the tv eating soba. He grabbed himself a bowl and sat with them.

"Hey Midoriya." Bakugo said, causing everyone to turn their attention to the green haired detective.

"Hi, you all having fun?" He replied, to which everyone responded with either a "yes" or a simple nod.

"Good, because tomorrow for hero training I will be taking the class. Enjoy the rest of your night. He then moved to go sit at the table and eat his soba. When he was about half way done, Aizawa came in asking to speak to him.

"Midoriya, I need a word. Urgently."

"Yeah ok, what's up?"

"It would be best to discuss this away from the others." So, they left to go to Izuku's dorm to discuss the matter at hand.

"So what is it Aizawa, my patrol is likely going to start any minute when the bat signal goes on."

"That's the thing, don't go to it."

"What do you mean?"

"The hero committee had a meeting today and was joined by the chief of police. The topic was Batman. Apparently, your methods were too violent and they didn't want a former vigilante becoming a hero, they're gonna try arrest you at every turn. But you didn't hear it from me."

"Thanks for the heads up. But what about you guys? Isn't the faculty meant to bring me in too?"

"No, not unless instructed by either the hero committee or police but neither know that we associate with you so they will leave us to our lessons."

"Ok, thanks Aizawa." Izuku replied before returning to the common area to speak to Eri about her future as Batgirl. She was sat watching a movie with Kyoka, they were cuddling up together and looked adorable. Izuku didn't want to ruin the moment so instead he headed back down to the Batcave. Alone.

When arriving in the Batcave, Izuku messaged Kyoka to ask her to put Eri to bed at a decent time due to him leaving early for his nightly patrol. He made his way over to the computer set up and multiple radios to find any crime he could stop tonight. Fortunately, he got a lead on Overhaul and was going to be able to give Eri some closure. But...something didn't feel right. He wanted to catch the maniac and help Eri move past her trauma but, shouldn't she be the one to face her demons to become better? It would be the difference between the two. She would be better than Batman. Making up his mind, he picked up his phone and rang Kyoka.

"Kyo, change of plans. Could you bring Eri down to the cave please?"

"Yeah sure, I'll be there in a minute."

"Ok, I love you."

"I love you too Izuku."

5 minutes later

"Izuku, this has got to be your dumbest idea. I mean fighting crime as a giant bat, crazy but tolerable. You fighting powerful villains when you could die at any point, insane. But taking Eri? That's where I'm gonna have to say no."

"Kyo please, this is the person who took her parents from her. She needs to do this, for her family. I don't want her turning out like me."

"I understand that but if you want her kept safe then don't take her. There are too many things that could go wrong and I care for this girl. She is like a daughter to me. I don't want to see her on the morning news as a victim. So I will not in good conscience allow you to take her."

"I...I'm sorry. I don't know what I was thinking. I just didn't want anyone to suffer how I did and was just so blinded by trying to bring him in. I'll take him down, without endangering her life. I never meant to..." Izuku was cut off by Kyoka hugging him tightly.

"I understand ok, I know how much it must mean. I was just a bit over protective of Eri is all. I just want to have a life where we can be a family Izuku. I love you and Eri, and I don't want to live a life without you both in it." He just hugged her back and kissed her softly.

"I love you Kyoka."

"I love you too Izuku. You better go get them."

"Yeah, don't worry though, I will make sure to protect Eri with my life if need be. She is just coming and staying in the batwing so she will be safe. It is a one time thing anyway."

"Thank you, I'll see you when you get back. My door will be unlocked and if you're lucky, underwear may not be present." The last part she whispered in his ear before gently biting his earlobe and kissing him one more. Izuku became Kirishima red with all the blushing he was doing.

"R-right then, I'd better hurry." He replied, donning his cowl and climbing into the batwing with Eri. They waved bye to Kyoka before they launched out of the Batcave and towards the city.

A few minutes later

"Where are we headed?" Eri asked, looking at Izuku who was focused on the flight journey.

"A warehouse near the port. Something is going down there and we're gonna stop it. Look, it's down there. Let me do a quick scan first to see if anyone is in there." He commenced a thermal scan of the building midair to scan for enemies.

"Ok, looks like there's about two dozen enemies on the third floor guarding one room. Why don't I pay them a surprise from the second floor." He then opened the back of the batwing to jump out but was stopped by Eri.

"Wait. What about me?"

"Stay in the batwing, monitor the skies and let me know if anyone is coming" he simply replied before he jumped out of the back and glided straight through a window on the second floor.

(0:00 - 3:02)

(Whether you like Batfleck or not, you have to admit this scene is awesome)

After Izuku finished up with the henchmen guarding the room, he made his  way to the room they were protecting. There was obviously something in there of importance that nobody wanted touched. So, of course he was going to see what it is. However, there was nothing but a sealed crate in the centre of the room. Batman approached the crate cautiously until he was directly in front of it. Then, he kicked the top off which revealed enough explosives to level the building set to detonate in 5 seconds... and the timer was running.

A few minutes earlier

Eri was sat in the batwing, looking down at the warehouse. There were loud noises and gun shot flashes every couple of seconds. She was trying to get comfortable but couldn't. Something didn't feel right, so she started looking around at the surrounding area and spotted someone she wished she hadn't: Overhaul.

"You...what are you doing here? I'm not gonna let you kill anyone else you bastard." She uttered to herself, but just as she was about to pursue him, the warehouse exploded and Batman went flying out of a window and onto the ground.

Izuku was recovering from the force of the blast which propelled him through a window and onto the ground outside. Thankfully, his mouth shield activated so there would be no burn scars. He slowly began to rise to his feet, dusting off some soot from the explosion. Fire and wood crackled and burned around him. The flames cast his shadow onto the metal containers nearby and he could feel the heat radiating from the inferno. Batman was about to contact Eri when he heard a voice.

"Looks like you got my invitation." ??? Said, looking down to him. Izuku looked up to see a figure standing atop some containers with a staff, gun, dual swords and a mask with one eyehole. There was only one person he knew with those accessories.

"Slade." Izuku replied, narrowing his eyes as he glared up at Deathstroke.

(0:00 - 2:00)

The containers began falling everywhere and Izuku and Deathstroke were still locked in combat. Unfortunately, the container supporting them both collapsed and knocked them off balance. However, only Izuku could glide so he used this advantage to capitalise. He glided over to Deathstroke and right hooked him in the face mid air to knock him out. Once all the shipping containers had stopped falling, Batman tied up Deathstroke in some heavy duty chains multiple times to make sure he couldn't escape. All of a sudden, he heard the screaming of a man and what sounded like wrists snapping.

Izuku ran around the shipping yard and finally found the source of the screams. It was Overhaul being attacked and restrained by Eri. She had broken his wrists so he could not use his quirk on her and punched him so much that his mask had began cracking. He was currently tied by his arms to a railing, and was forced on his knees. Eri was standing in front of him, fists clenched and holding a batarang in one hand. She was aiming for his head but before she was about to throw it, she thought hard to herself about what she was doing. She thought about the consequences and how disappointed Batman would be. Overhaul simply looked at her and started laughing, so she launched the batarang next to his head which immediately shut him up. To both their surprise though, the batarang released a sleeping gas that knocked out Chisaki. Eri backed away quickly and looked around, only to see Batman with a small button that released the gas.

"It's a gas that was created as a more powerful version of Midnight's quirk. I'm not sure why Overhaul was here or why you didn't do what I said but I'm proud of you. You brought the man who killed your family to justice, unlike me. They would be proud too."

"Thanks." She replied, "And I hope that my new family will be too."

"Always. Now come on, let's get out of here before the cops show up."

Later

Izuku and Eri arrived back in the dorms and Eri went to bed to get some sleep. However, Izuku was called to the teacher's lounge for a conversation with the teachers.

"Mr Midoriya, thank you for coming." Nezu said, greeting the green haired boy.

"Make it quick Nezu, I need to go meet my girlfriend soon and I have a date tomorrow so I need sleep."

"Well us teachers have called you here because of your recent adoption of Eri. Since you have, she has assisted you in crime fighting as seen tonight."

"That's right," Aizawa said, several of the injured criminals and Overhaul spotted a smaller version of Batman with you but female. Coincidence? I think not."

"What gives you the right to inaugurate her into crime fighting?" Midnight demanded.

"Eri needed to bring the man who killed her family to justice." Izuku replied calmly.

"So she would turn out like you?"

"So that she wouldn't. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to bed to prepare for teaching tomorrow and then my date later in the day." Then, he stood up and dropped a smoke bomb, disappearing from the room.
