Chapter twenty six
Betrayal

Theo and Caitlin have been seeing each other for weeks now and at the beginning everything was perfect, they'd spend most of their days with each other and enjoy each other's company. After everything that happened over the last couple of months Caitlin has been on guard at all times, she doesn't know if Austin will try to kill her next to get to Ivy so now she's constantly aware of her surroundings but meeting Theo has put her at ease he makes her feel safe and secure.

Caitlin has been dealing with everything in a completely different way then Ivy has been, Caitlin's spent most of her time worrying about Ivy and in some ways that's helped her because the more she focuses on Ivy's wellbeing she doesn't have to think about what happened to Olivia. JJ has been constantly asking Caitlin to speak to her about her feelings and not to keep them bottled up but the problem is she doesn't actually know how she feels.

"Morning... how come you're awake so early" Theo asked as he rolled over and softly kissed her.

"I've been just thinking about some stuff but it doesn't matter now because you're awake" she mumbled as she curled up into him.

"You know you can tell me anything right because I'm always here to listen" he spoke sincerely as Caitlin looked up at him.

"Em... my best friend was killed a couple of weeks ago by my other best friends ex boyfriend... I've only just realized how confusing that sounds" she laughed as he looked down at her sadly.

"I'm sorry Caitlin I didn't know any of that... did you know the person who killed her" he asked as Caitlin nodded her head.

"Yeah I'd never seen him before though... Ivy told me she was seeing someone at college but after she came back she never spoke of him again and she moved on with Spencer but then Olivia went missing and she finally told me the whole story and how there relationship came to an end... anyway long story short he shot Olivia in the chest and she died at the scene" she spoke softly.

"I'm so so sorry Caitlin... what happened to the man who done it" he questioned as Caitlin took in a deep breath.

"He fled the scene and hasn't been found since" she answered as she began to silently cry.

"You know it's okay to cry... you're bound to feel upset" he comforted her as she continued to sob.

"I'm scared that he's going to come back and try to kill me this time to get back at Ivy" she confessed as Theo looked down at her.

"That's not going to happen I promise... I won't let him hurt you" he spoke with complete certainty as Caitlin wiped her tears from her face.

"Look I'm going to take a quick shower and then we can head out for some breakfast how does that sound" he asked as Caitlin smiled.

"It sounds perfect" she answered as he walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind him.

Caitlin couldn't remember where she placed her phone down last night so she decided she'd use Theo's phone to ring Ivy, everyday since Ivy tried to end her life Caitlin has checked in with her twice a day. Theo's passcode was going to be a problem but she tried his birthday and it surprisingly unlocked, the moment the phone unlocked Caitlin's mind began to race. The phone opened up on Google where he had previously searched up Ivy, Olivia and Caitlin, he knew about what happened to Olivia and how Austin got away with it, he knew everything about Ivy including how she tried to commit suicide and he knew everything about Caitlin, including how her sister works with Ivy's dad and how long Ivy and her have been friends. Theo had said to Caitlin that he knew nothing about what had happened to Olivia... he lied straight to her face. Caitlin jumped as the phone began to ring.

"Is that my phone ringing" Theo shouted from the bathroom.

"Em... yeah it's A" she answered as she looked down at the phone in her hand.

"Ah okay he's a friend from work I'll ring him back later" he spoke as the water drowned out his words.

Caitlin began to feel uneasy as the person on the other end of the call hung up, she couldn't trust Theo and she felt stupid that she ever did. The phone began to ring again only this time she answered it.

"Theo man why haven't you been answering me I've rang you over ten times this morning" he snapped as Caitlin's breathe hitched.

"Are you just not going to answer me that's not very polite of you.... anyway has Caitlin said anything yet about Ivy" Austin spoke from the other end of the line.

"Theo what the fuck answer me" he snapped as Caitlin tried to control her breathing.

"This isn't Theo is it" Austin asked slowly.

"Caitlin Jareau... it's a pleasure to finally speak to you" he laughed as Caitlin took a moment to compose herself.

"I'd be lying if I said the feeling was mutual" she spoke softly as he continued to laugh.

"How are you feeling after finding out you're boyfriend has been lying to you this whole time" he spoke proudly as Caitlin tried to find her phone.

"Why have you been ringing him" she asked as she searched around his house for her cellphone.

"I'm sorry that I'm the one who has to break the news to you but Theo's my little brother Caitlin... I apologise that no one told you sooner" he giggled as Caitlin stood frozen in place.

"Yes you slept with the brother or you're best friends murder... pathetic really how quickly you trusted him" Austin laughed down the phone.

"I hope you rot in hell" she spat as Austin huffed.

"Don't worry you'll get there before me..." Austin's words were drowned out by Theo opening the bathroom door.

"What are you doing with my phone" he asked as Caitlin looked over at him wide eyed.

Theo stormed over and grabbed the phone from Caitlin's hand as she continued searching for her phone in a panic.

"Austin there's no need to come i promise it'll be fine" Theo spoke softly.

"Fine okay I'll see you soon" Theo answered as he hung up the phone.

"I need my phone where is it" Caitlin panicked as she looked up at him.

"I can't give you you're phone" he answered softly as he stepped closer to her.

"Please look I don't want any trouble... I promise I won't say anything but if Austin comes over here he's going to kill me" she spoke quickly as he shook his head.

"He wouldn't do that he knows how much I like you... he's not the monster Ivy makes him out to be" he snapped as Caitlin took a step back.

"He killed my best friend... he is a monster" she shouted as Theo looked down at the ground.

"You're phone is in the basement" he mumbled as she looked at him suspiciously.

"You expect me to walk down into a basement to look for my phone... I couldn't have even lost it down there because I haven't been down there" she answered.

"I put it down there last night when you feel asleep" he replied as he walked toward the basement door.

"Why did you take my phone last night... you couldn't have known I'd have answered his call today" she spoke as he turned around to face her.

"That was my plan... I knew if I left my phone on the table and went for a shower you'd try to find your phone and call Ivy because you call her twice a day ever since her suicide attempt... I knew you'd be smart enough to guess my simple passcode so I left it on Google so that you'd know I was looking into you and you're friends and I made sure that Austin would ring my phone at that exact time... so my plan worked out well in the end" he mocked as Caitlin stood there in shock.

"So ever since I met you you've been planing with you're brother to kill me" she asked as he violently shook his head.

"No he told me he won't hurt you... he promised me" he spoke sincerely as Caitlin laughed.

"And you believe him" she snapped as he opened the basement door.

"Yes I do... with my life" he answered as Caitlin snatched his phone up and into her back pocket when he wasn't looking.

"Where exactly is my phone down here" she asked as he looked down into the basement.

"Down the stairs and on the left it's sitting on the floor" he replied as she nodded her head.

"Fine but you have to promise me you won't let him hurt me" she negotiated.

"Of course I promise... he won't hurt you" he spoke honestly as she walked in front of him and down the stairs.

Caitlin knew he was going to lock her in the basement but she also knew he wouldn't have let her leave his house either way so she figured the best thing to do was grab his phone and go into the basement at least now she'd be able to ring for help.

"I'm so sorry" he whispered as he slammed the door shut behind her.

"Don't worry about it... my plan will work just as well as yours did" she whispered to herself as she began dialing Ivy's phone number.
