Old enemy

Danny  had absolutely no idea to where he was being dragged. The hallways seemed like perfect duplicates of the hallways in every other hiding. The assassins dragged them deeper and deeper into some underground tunnels and they seemed to be in a hurry. Was it the fact that the ectoranium was slowly fading out of Dan's system or there was someone waiting for their arrival. No idea.

The small group of people arrived to their final destination. They were now standing in front of a thick steel door with a complex looking security. With a swift movement of a card, the steel door opened and revealed a dark room illuminated lightly by a green light. Green bars formed a circle in the middle of the room, creating a cage of some sorts.

When Dan saw his surroundings, he immediately started trashing violently. He knew perfectly well what was coming. Torture. When he looked at his human half, Danny was giving him a worried glance. There was a warm short lived feeling inside when he realized that Danny was still worried about him and that he didn't shut out everyone after the way he treated him. The way he acted, he had a reason. Dan needed everyone to think that he was the superior one, the ruthless and evil one. He didn't want Danny to rant out his cover. In fact, he was actually fond of the boy, he thought of him as a small brother.

"How nice to see you again Daniel." A man everyone thought was dead chuckled as he emerged from the shadows. "It wasn't nice of you to leave me in my falling mansion."

"Ho...How?" Danny stuttered as he tried to move away. Unfortunately, he couldn't due to the man holding him tightly in his place. "You... you were unconscious when I tore the place apart."

"Thinking of us as one? Interesting..." the ghost thought while glaring daggers at the supposed-to-be-dead man. Vlad seemed interested only in Danny, not even looking Dan's way. He didn't mind at all, there was just an uneasy feeling within.

With Vlad's hand around his shoulders, Danny was dragged deeper into the dark chamber. Right before he left the ghosts view, he shot him a small glance. After the man left, the two remaining guards tossed Dan inside of the circular prison, locking him inside. Just as set one foot inside, a wave of uneasiness hit him. There was no way the bars were just painted green, the ghost harmful radiation was everywhere around them.

"Enjoy the torture." One of the guards snickered, making his comrade laugh. The ghost only grunted in response, not looking forward to the process.

"Daniel, you must understand that he's dangerous. With his special abilities and fighting techniques, he's unstoppable." The chief scientist, also know as Vlad Master tried to win the 14 year old on his side.

"He's not pure evil." Danny tried to protest. "When you get to know him, he's actually quite sentimental."

"But he has changed, hasn't he?" Vlad was trying to get the boy on his side, away from the ghost so he could separate them permanently.

"..."

"I thought so..." the man sighed and pushed Danny alongside him further. "I prepared a special room for you. I know you don't like to be near the abomination these days." With a sympathetic smile, Vlad pushed the boy towards a glass wall. It was a small room equipped with a worn out sofa, nothing special.

Danny wasn't trusting the man so he stopped. Not that he would go inside of his free will. As he was just standing there, Vlad grew really impatient so he kicked the boy in his back, sending him flying inside his 'special' room. The door shut tightly behind the halfa, blocking his only way out.

"Let me out!" He shouted and banged his fists against the glass. "I wouldn't drain my energy.
It's a bulletproof glass." Vlad smirked and proceeded with his plan. Despite Danny's hopeless banging, the scientist made his way towards the circular cell in the middle of the underground chamber.

"Don't you dare touch him!" Danny cried out, surprising everyone. With the stares everyone was giving him, he rather pulled back and hid in a dark corner of his own prison.

"If there are no more objections, I shall start." The man walked away a little further to reach the main control panel. It was a box similar to huge data banks with many screens and buttons, each one designed to cause some sort of pain.

"We'll have to restrain you before we can start..." a small green button was pressed and a green fog raised from small holes in the ground. The gas resulted in a sick coughing fit, knocking the ghost out in the process. "Now it should be easier." Vlad took out a long chain from a box. As everything in this room, the equipment was also infused with a bit of ectoranium to stop the ghost from doing anything dangerous. When Dan was out cold, Vlad could freely enter his prison and bind him to the floor.

He came to his senses with a thudding headache, eyes closed against the dull pain, his throat burning. Dan bit out a curse and moved his hand to inspect his throat – except that it didn't move. Something was restraining his arms. His legs, too, were immobilized, as he noticed when he tried to get up. To get up... so he was in a kneeling position.

"I see you've woken up." The ghost glared at the tall man while trying to free his limbs. "I know I have a plan to separate you from Daniel, then separate my ghost half from his, yada, yada, but... why don't we have some fun before? After all, we have all the time in the world."

"You are a sick bastard!" Danny screamed and jumped back to the front of the cell to have a better look. Meanwhile, Vlad picked up a small syringe filled with red liquid, a liquified version of the blood blossom. "This dosage won't kill you, but it will hurt. It will hurt like hell itself." The man laughed as he watched the ghost struggle even harder. He tried to wrench his arms free and felt the chains dig into his flesh. He cried out in pain and kept battering at the straps with his forearms. They sawed in deeper and drew blood, but he was too far gone to notice it. The green substance that worked as a blood for the ghost dripped down on the floor, making the crazed up man smile.

"I'm going to enjoy this." Vlad rejoiced. He tilted the ghost's head to the side so he could inject him more easily. In no time, the needle was stuck in Dan's trapezius. He roared from the burning sensation that was quickly spreading g through this restrained body. His blood felt like it was boiling and there was nothing he could do about it, only endure the pain.

Danny watched the scene with terror. The man his father idolized so much was a murderous psychopath. Great choice of friends. "I have to save him, he's my... he's part of me." Danny mumbled as he stared. With the last hope, he drove his elbow back and tried to punch his way out. He completely froze when he found his hand sticking halfway through the bulletproof glass, burning with green fire.

"This is were Dan's powers went." Danny pondered as he ran towards the main control panel. Vlad was so caught up in his 'fun', he didn't notice the human half running around. The halfa could try to overwork the hardware by pushing everything, but there was 100% chance that he would hurt his ghost half. The other option was to smash it. With his newly found powers, it should be easy, right?

Only how wrong could he be. When his fist landed on the metal panel, he cried out from the pain. His knuckles were bleeding slightly and he managed to make only the smallest dent! Danny was so caught up in his task, he barely noticed someone's agonized scream. As he turned towards the source of the pained scream, he found a beam of green light torturing the ghost inside the cell. In panic, Danny pressed the button once more, thankfully shutting it off. He ran inside of the opened cell, ready to do anything to defend his future self.

"Ah, ah, ah... don't even think about it." Vlad towered over the young halfa. "Get out or I'll make you." He threatened and took out a sai. "Interesting what they teach you, the assassin cult or whatever they are". Danny took a cautious step backwards, thinking of a plan to get rid of the psycho.

"I hope this will work out." Danny mumbled as he charged at his opponent with an intent to use the ghostly wail. Unfortunately, the cream went out, but in a normal human way. Laughing at his failed attempt, Vlad slashed the boy across his arm. "I warned out." He said and took few threatening steps closer. Completely lost, Danny backed away again, but his back hit the green bars.

"Are you trapped?" The man asked with an evil smirk on his face. "I always knew you were the weak one. The one who couldn't land a proper punch even if his life depended on it. The one who got defeated countless times by an old man. The one who got ...." Vlad was silenced by a strong blow to his jaw. While he was still surprised, Danny used his opportunity and thought through his plan. He wasn't strong enough, or he didn't know how to land a proper punch to knock someone out so he helped himself. As soon as Vlad recovered from the blow, he charged recklessly at the boy, head first. His biggest and final mistake. When the man was only few inches away, the halfa ducked and stretched out his leg. Vlad was driven by emotions so he didn't have the best reaction time. With a last failed attempt to avoid the barrier, he crashed head first into the cell slopes.

Danny yelped when a heavy object fell on top of him. With swift movement of his hands, he pried the man off. When he stood up, he found Vlad lying unconscious. Danny chuckled when he thought about how the man knocked himself out, but stopped, when he saw the ghost. His head was hanging over his chest and he was trembling. The halfa rushes to the ghost's side, trying to help. He yanked at the chains, but they didn't move. Now feeling some power inside, he outstretched his hand as he saw Dan many times before. His hand glowed red and so did the chains. He made a fist and then he quickly opened it again, causing Dan's restrains to shatter.

Danny was right there on time to catch the falling ghost. He held him tightly in his much smaller lap, waiting for any response. "Dan..." The human half sobbed at the sight of his friend.

"Why did I come to this place." Danny wailed. "Nothing of this would have happened if I just stayed with Jason." He laid his forehead on Dan's chest, crying uncontrollably. A hand grabbed Danny's much smaller one. The human half lifted his head in hope, searching the ghost's face for any sign of consciousness. Dan blinked few times, adjusting to the light in the room. He quickly shut his eyes tight again as the pain hit him once more.

"What's going on!" Danny panicked, being completely clueless. Dan was in so much pain and he couldn't help him. "Fuse... ba... back." The ghost whispered, using his last bit of energy on those two words.

"Right, right" Danny muttered and stood up. He closed his eyes to have better concentration on the fusion. For a second, their bodies changed into two streaks of pure energy. While Danny was crying, Vlad was able to regain consciousness. The second was enough for the crazy scientist to react. He took out a variant of the Fenton thermos, aiming for the duo. What was the biggest flaw of Vlad's invention, was the fact, that it could only suck in pure energies, not whole ghosts. It seemed to have no effect on the ghost, because Dan was hovering completely fine in the air. He still had a slightly pained expression, but the majority of the pain vanished with the fusion.

"Now it's your turn to suffer." Dan growled and shot a beam at the man. He dodged it, but not completely. The green ray hit his elbow joint, tearing half of his limb off. "And now you'll bleed out and starve to death here." The ghost didn't pay any further attention to the bleeding man. He flew out of the prison cell and shut the door behind him. "I hope the rest of your life is miserable."

One moment he was in the air and the second, he wasn't. With a blacked vision, Dan pushed himself off of the ground, feeling nauseous. It was nothing surprising considering the blood blossom was flowing through his system only few moments ago.  With a spinning head, the ghost made his way through the door, out, into the outside world, leaving the pain and bad memories behind.

Hi guys, so this is the penultimate chapter of this book. (Or at least I think)
I would write more here, but I want to leave all the stuff for the final chapter. If everything goes well, the next chapter should be up in around a week or so.
