Normal again?

Two long months have passed since the accident that cost his two best friends their lives. The same day as he got his friends killed, his parents found out about his ghostly secret which has been perfectly safe for a whole 2 years.

Danny's parents, Jack and Maddie Fenton weren't the same since the day. They both started treating Danny as something peculiar and not worth their attention or love. This made Danny feel unwanted.

The first month has been very hard for Danny. The young ghost boy has been locked inside of his house, not allowed to do anything, not even go to school. Normally Danny wouldn't mind but this time he really wanted to go back to school. Just then he realized that there were no people left in his school that knew about his secret life of being a hero. People who would cover his back during classes when he was out saving the city. There were no Sam and Tucker and he knew that there won't be anyone to take their place ever again.

For the whole month Jack or Maddie brought him homework once a week so he wouldn't stay behind but it was impossible. Danny has been having problems with his grades for a longer time now and he was going to school. Now when he's at home alone most of the time, he doesn't even understand what those teachers want from him. After two weeks Danny decided to let it be, and he accepted that he won't be a genius.

The second month got slightly better. He was allowed to go back to school, but he was forced to wear a special invention to turn down his powers. It was a new invention his parents designed and built just for Danny. The design was simple, just a small black bracelet with a green stripe. He couldn't take it off without a special key that was securely stock in a safe. The ghost boy didn't even have the energy to try to crack the password, he thought if his parents wanted it like this, it should be their way.

When Danny met his parents in the hallways of their  house, they didn't greet him like a normal family would. Maybe normally for the Fenton family. His father used to call him Danny-boy which he found annoying but now he missed it. During dinner they were all silent, not wanting to talk to Danny if it wasn't ultimately necessary. They weren't avoiding him; it seemed more like they were being constantly watching him or stalking.

"Danny-boy, we found a way to take away your powers!" Jack exclaimed excited during one dinner. It seemed that Jack has forgotten the past events and the fact that his son was a half ghost. It almost seemed like he wanted to talk to Danny like normally but he was forced to keep up the facade.

The young halfa slowly looked at his father, his blue eyes lacking emotions. His mother has been quiet the whole time and his sister Jazz gave him pitiful look. Jazz told him once that she wanted to spend time with Danny but their parents told her not to. Hey said that it was for her own safety.

"What Jack is trying to say is that we found a way to separate your human half from your ghost half. Right after they will be separated we will tear the ghost molecule by molecule." She finished for her over excited husband. Her expression softened, and she looked sadly at Danny.

"We can be a family again, a family we used to be." Maddie whispered to Danny, her eyes filling with hot and salty tears. Danny couldn't say if it was from joy of being together again or from sadness and the fact that he was a half ghost and half human.

This was the most emotions showed towards him during the whole two months. Danny was happy that his parents were talking to him normally like that used to be but he had doubts about the plan to 'cure' him.

"Uhmmm... and who exactly will make me normal?" Danny asked not wanting to know the answer. He had an idea of whom it might be but he didn't want to shout it out.

"Of course Vladdie!" Jack shouted overexcited by mentioning his friends name. Of course it had to be Vlad. Danny thought, not even a bit happy about the newly shared information. Vlad's presence always ended with a catastrophic event occurring in the city or to Danny. Vlad was also a halfa like Danny but with a small difference. He didn't use his powers to help people but for his own gain. He got his powers over a decade back during his college years. He was working with the Fentons on a prototype of a ghost portal.

Danny's face has twisted into a deep frown. He didn't trust Vlad because he belonged into a group of people Danny's fighting against and he also proved that he is untrustworthy. Danny's mother saw his face and stood from her seat opposite of Danny. She walked towards the youngest Fenton and gave him a tight hug.

"It's okay Danny if you don't like Vlad, I don't like him too, but isn't it great that he offered himself to help you get rid of the ghost that is occupying your body?" Maddie whispered to her son but she didn't loosen her hug.

"Mum, you can let go now." Danny said annoyed and his mother stepped back looking at her husband. It was obviously that they were having silent conversation and Danny didn't even have to guess about what.

When the dinner was over Danny's parents headed to the lab to finish something that were working on. Jazz headed to her room to study for her big exam tomorrow. Danny also headed to his own room, and he closed the door behind him quickly. He didn't know why but he felt much better when he was alone these days. Maybe it was because everyone has been ignoring him the past months and he got used to it. When he was alone, there was no one who would look at him weirdly or talk to him like to a thing. Being alone gave him plenty of time to think about what happened back there and what might happen.

As Dan told him, there was no escaping his future. Danny knew that Dan was his future self but he could only guess how he became so evil and merciless. The ghost boy has been thinking about the cause of this problem for a few weeks now but he couldn't figure it out.

These thought were slowly driving him crazy, so he decided to take a shower to clear his head from everything. From the unavoidable future, from his parents, from his dead friends but mainly from the "cure".  The idea of what Vlad has came up with has been scaring Danny the most. His parents didn't give him even a small hint of what the cure could be or they simply didn't know. If it was and injection or something to put his halves apart like Fenton ghost catcher. If it will hurt or not. If it is permanent or only for a period of time. If he will survive or if it will kill him.

Danny stopped his mind before he would cross the line and scare himself even more. It has been bad for him not knowing what was he forced into but he trusted his parents. In this type of situation he would normally talk to his friends Sam and Tucker but they weren't here to help him or assure him that things will be fine. The ghost boy started silently sobbing. Why it had to be him who lost his best friends and was about to lose his other half?

Slowly his crying exhausted him so much that he fell asleep with his face buried in his pillow. It hurt so much knowing about his future but he was glad for the short time dedicated for sleep. Danny's mind has been working so hard lately that it didn't have the energy to form dreams, which was Danny undoubtedly thankful for. If he had been dreaming, it wouldn't be that pleasant. With all those events that occurred in these few weeks, it would only give him nightmares or night terrors.

As be assured, there were no nightmares that would wake him up screaming. A full night sleep always helped him to feel better. It has been a very long time since he has gotten good 8 hours of sleep with no ghost interrupting him. Since the fight with Dan, all the ghosts seemed to vanish. Of course Danny's ghost sense has been turned off by his anti-ghost bracelet but there were no reports of ghost sights. It bugged Danny because he knew that something bigger was going on in the background but at the same time he was grateful. He didn't have to get up a 3 am or in the middle of his class and fight any form of ghost.

As soon as all of those thoughts passed, he groggily got up from his bed. It has been a very long time since he has gone out or has done something to strengthen his muscles. As Danny stretched his back, a yawn escaped his mouth. The ghost boy went into the bathroom to complete his morning routine. He took a quick glance into the mirror and he could tell that he looked much better than in the last few weeks. There were no dark bags under his eyes and his skin looked more fresh. It's interesting what a good night sleep can do to a person.

The half ghost got dressed from his pajamas. He wore a white T-shirt with red circle and red linings, blue trousers with red and white converses. It wasn't the top branding clothes but Danny liked it. As the halfa got dressed, he took a long way to get down to the kitchen. He wasn't feeling like talking to his parents because he was sure that they would start about the so called "cure".

Just as Danny expected, his parents were already in the kitchen eating breakfast. When they saw Danny come inside, they instantly halted in their actions. The sandwich in Jack's hand has stopped in the middle of the way to his mouth. His mother put down the cup of coffee she was holding and gave Danny a blank expression.

His parents looked at each other before one of them started talking.

"My Danny- boy, we would like... your mother and me... well..." the man in orange couldn't get himself to talk so his wife took if from there.

"So what Jack was trying to say is that the cure is ready. We are leaving to Vlad today, so you'll get time to prepare yourself. As I said before, you don't have to worry even a bit, it won't hurt." Maddie's reassuring words didn't have the expected effect. Anyone could tell that those words made Danny even more scared.
