When Jason needed to ventilate his emotions, he often went to the gym. Tonight, he went on the rooftop for a change. The view from the manor was magical. The sea, forests, plains and skyscrapers.

What he didn't expect, was to see a curled form of Danny, sleeping near the edge of the building. He rushed towards him to check if he was ok and to pull him away from the edge. At the sudden movement, the halfa's eyes snapped open and revealed his icy blue irises.

After the first shock passed, he stood up under the supervision of his worried older brother.

"What were you doing here?" Jason asked softly and grabbed Danny's shoulder. He pushed him inside so he wouldn't catch a cold.

"I wanted to be alone." Danny replied as soon as they entered the warm hallway.

"Did He cause you any problems?" The vigilante asked, both thinking about the same man.

"Not today..." the boy silenced for few seconds, "To be honest, he was the one who helped me calm down." Danny confessed. When he turned around, his brother was staring at him in disbelief.

"Dan? Comfort someone?" Those words just didn't go together very well. Jason had so many questions swirling in his mind but when he opened his mouth, nothing came out.

"You know, Bruce is pretty angry with you and Dick is really sad." Jason said, but quickly closed his mouth again because of the black look Danny was giving him. "Not that it was your mistake. I told Dick to let you go but he didn't listen."

"I just hope he'll get over it. And what involves Bruce, I really don't care what he thinks."

The duo made their way to the kitchen, where they grabbed a fast breakfast. Both of them took an energy bar and sat by the counter.

"What happened with your powers back then?" Jason asked his brother who just finished his snack.

"It happened to me for the first time about a month before you took me in. I scared a stray cat to death." Danny spoke while folding and unfolding the paper.

"I didn't know you could access your powers..." The vigilante thought out loud.

"Well, in normal circumstances, I can't. It happens only when I'm super furious and that's also the time when Dan is the most active and can take over." The halfa explained. He walked to the bin and threw away the piece of trash.

"Point taken, don't make you angry." Danny chuckled at his light tone. After those long days of sulking and being alone, a hearted laugh was nice.

"What about the team, did Batman scold them?" Danny asked snickering. Jason told him all about the mission and about Dick's injury before, so he was wondering.

"Yeah, you know, the best way to let someone know that they messed up isn't to shout at them. Batman has a special tactic, he talks in this super monotone voice and trust me when I'm saying this, it's the worse."

"I trust you." Both of them laughed at Danny's comment. They made their way to the living room, which was full of people. Everyone was sitting on a huge sofa except Alfred, who was standing behind them.

"Did you set me up?" Danny glared at his companion.

"No." With this simple answer, Danny's trust for Jason completely shattered.

"You're lying." The boy growled fiercely and stepped away from his brother.

"Daniel, we asked Jason to bring you here because we wanted to talk to you." Bruce took over, giving the halfa a hard look. It wasn't the Bruce Danny knew, the one who was a kind and easy-going businessman. The man who was sitting in front of him was Batman.

"And then strap me to a table and do experiments? That's not happening!" He shouted at the older man, but it didn't have the right effect.

"You were experimented on?" Tim asked in disbelief and took few steps closer. Danny took it as a threat and retreated even more.

"How did you get the idea?" The halfa asked sarcastically.

"I was just asking!" Tim snapped, now glaring daggers at his twin.

"What is it with everyone being mad at me?" Danny asked his ghost companion, who surprisingly didn't reply.

"We need a prove that you're not dangerous for us." Damian said. It was a long time since Danny heard the youngest boy talk.

"And a young assassin isn't dangerous? Hell, everyone in this living room is dangerous!" Danny raised his voice and took a 'threatening' step forward.

"We are talking about your stupid existence, not mine!" Damian spat back, his brows furrowed.

"I may or may not be in my room." Danny said causally, ending the fight by leaving. He slowly made his way to his bedroom, but on the inside, he was raging.

"How can they be so cold?" Danny shouted and yanked one of his drawers from frustration. The content of the drawer laid scattered all over his bedroom floor. He looked at the mess he caused and the envelope which ruined his life caught his eye.

"What if this is the only solution?" The halfa murmured as he picked the lists up.

Greetings Daniel Fenton,

or should we call you Phantom? It is our pleasure to deliver you this message. It would be a great honor if a powerful being such as you joined our forces.

We apologize for the secrecy but we couldn't let Batman know. If you share this information with them, we'll know and it won't be pretty.

If you decide to become a part of the league, just tell your friend, Ryan White.

Join us, or forever regret your decision.

~The League of Shadows

Greetings Phantom,

We have been watching your steps for some time now and I'm speaking for everyone now, your abilities are interesting.

It would be an honor for the Court of Owls to rule the world with you by our side.

When you decide to join us, just whistle. An owl is always nearby.

~The Court of Owls

Reading the two lists again, he made up his mind rather quickly. When someone told him he would join one of the leagues, he would laugh at them and call them crazy. Now, he wouldn't.

His favored option was the league of shadows. It was set in high and cold mountains, something he enjoyed. At first, he hated Ryan for betraying his trust, but now, he wanted to be with him more than anything.

"Just letting you know, I'm joining the league of shadows." Danny informed his evil half, who was apparently sleeping or being offline.

Where did I put my phone? Danny asked himself as he was searching his bedroom. His phone rang in his pocket and he picked it up.

"I'm so sorry Danny..." Ryan started speaking but he was cut off by his friend.

"I'm sorry Ryan, I can't talk now. I'm looking for my phone." He said and then he hung up. When the phone rang the second time, he picked it up again.

"Did you find your phone?" Ryan asked amused.

"Yeah..." Danny replied sheepishly.

"I wanted to apologize..."

"I wanted to apologize..." both of them started at the same time.

"You first."

"I wanted to apologize for judging you so quickly. When I got the mail, I felt betrayed, but now, I would like to meet up."

"I would like to apologize for keeping it a secret. I may have known about you from the beginning, but our friendship was real." The halfa smiled at those words. He was really glad that his best friend was his real best friend, not just a play of higher forces.

"I'm sorry, can't talk right now. Can we meet?"

"When."

"In half an hour, at your place."

"Fine with me." Ryan said and hung the phone. Danny felt strangely happy, as if he was going on some sort of a vacation. He stuffed back his drawer and then, he took out a big duffel bag from under his bed.

Danny soon packed all of his belongings, leaving only few clothes. With a bag over his shoulder, Danny opened his window and crouched at the edge.

"Now or never." He whispered and let two white rings appear. They revealed the adult form of his future ghost side. Danny expected Dan to take over as soon as he got the opportunity, but he didn't, leaving Danny in control over their body.

The halfa turned invisible and intangible so the cameras and heat sensors wouldn't spot him. It was a nice feeling to be in the air again. The wind whipping your face and ruffling your hair. In his case a campfire.

In matter of minutes, he was hovering near to Ryan's bedroom window. He knocked lightly, letting his presence get known. The other teenager soon opened the window and let Danny inside.

"Why doesn't it surprise me." Ryan greeted with a smirk. Danny changed back into his human form and hugged his best friend.

"I missed you man." Ryan's room wasn't a big one. It reminded him of Damian's room, but in a smaller version. The walls were covered with weapons of all kinds, making it dangerous to even walk around. The rest of the room was simple, a bed, a wardrobe and a desk. In the corner stood a human sized dummy, pierced by katanas in its lethal places.

"Nice collection." Danny commented as he looked around. "May I?" He asked and pointed at a katana. He got a nod in reply.

"Do you know how to use it?" He asked, eyeing his guest interestedly.

"Yeah, Damian taught me." The halfa sighed and juggled with the shiny sword. Danny made a stabbing motion towards his best friend, who just laughed it off.

"I'm not the dummy here. If you want to stab someone, there's my lovely assistant in the corner." Danny instinctively turned towards the corner Ryan mentioned, looking for any tied people. When he found the stabbed practice dummy, he sighed in relief.

"I thought you meant a real person." Danny chuckled and did another move with the katana.

"Well, I had a visitor yesterday." With the word 'visitor', Danny didn't think of anything pretty.

"He's an assassin, he kills. Get over it Fenton." Danny scolded himself for judging his friend.

"I'm s..." Ryan started but Danny cut him mid word.

"It's okay, I just need to get used to it." The halfa gave him a small smile. The sword wasn't interesting anymore so he put it back on the wall.

"You can keep it, I have millions of others." The blonde boy smiled and put the sword into Danny's hands again. "And take this holster."

Danny thanked his friend for the deadly gift. He didn't want it to hang by his side right away so he packed it in his already full bag.

Truly, Ryan's parents weren't at home, they were on a training in the mountains. Thankfully, it wasn't the awkward situation when you a bring a total stranger and introduce him or her to your parents.

They sat in a large and modern kitchen, eating something from the fridge. It wasn't as good as Alfred's cooking but it was good.

"If you don't want to answer, you don't have to. What made you change your mind?" The teen asked, looking at Danny from the opposite side of the table.

"The Waynes were becoming unbearable. Not that they were bad, but..." Danny didn't know how to finish his sentence.

"People do that often." Ryan shrugged.

"How is it in the league?" The halfa asked while he was putting his plate into the dishwasher.

"It's kind of great and since I'm the only kid there at the moment, I feel very honored."

"Damian was the other child." Danny said, thinking about his brothers history. "Talia handed him over to Bruce few years back."

"Yes, that's true but we didn't see each other very often. He was always with his mother of grandfather. You know, the higher circles." Ryan explained and cleaned the table after them. "That's why he keeps glaring at me, he's trying to place my face, I know he recognized me."

"I'm sorry but I'm tired. Is there a place I can sleep?" Danny asked, his eyelids growing heavier each passing second. He didn't get much sleep these days and it was catching up with him.

"You can sleep on the couch. I'll bring you a pillow and a blanket." The blonde smiled and left the room. Soon he returned with a cushion and a blanket and handed it to his guest.

"Thanks." Danny said as he took those things from his friend. "It means a lot."

"Anytime." Ryan replied and they parted their ways, both heading for their beds. Danny was too tired to bother with changing into his pajamas so he just lied down and fell asleep immediately.

"Did you really think that I would just join your army?" The ghost asked smirking, standing over a beaten man.

"No, that's why I made some precautions." The man covered in shadows replied and his head fell limp.
