And the target is set

It has been a month and few days since I started this book. I'm so happy to have 150+ reads and I hope that those will grow in the future.

Hope you enjoy 😉

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There was one thing Danny noticed about his ghost side. Dan, the one he met few months ago, was different than the one in his head. Unlike most of his enemies who have, to some degree, a moral conscience, Dan possesses no such trait. He is outright murderous, wrathful, insane, remorseless, cruel, twistedly sadistic, and brutally ruthless, and is more than willing to kill even the people he once cared about to get what he wants.
Due to possessing no humanity whatsoever, Dan can accurately be described as a psychopath. He enjoys manipulating his friends and family in the past, toying with his younger self by revealing his past self's secret identity to his parents. Dan even goes so far as to pridefully point out how he purged his humanity long ago. Combined with his destructive tendencies, implied enormous body count, and his willingness to murder his own family in the past to ensure his continued existence in his present, Dan is an absolute monster, showing that he is willing to go to any lengths to preserve himself as he is. To make things worse, he is also shown to have a psychotic and unnerving sense of humor, joking and taunting whenever he so feels like.
He is also notably arrogant, as he condescendingly remarks upon his younger self's charge before taking down him down in the future with a sense of dissatisfaction on the lack of effort on his part. Despite that, he was aware that he could not destroy Danny because that would erase him so he instead battered him to a point where he couldn't intervene.
This was a long description of Dan (I totally didn't help myself with google translate...) that Danny met few months ago. Dan which fused with him had moral conscience to some degree. He was still murderous and twistedly sadistic but not at a such high level as the full ghost. Ghost side Dan said that he wanted to make a hell out of Danny's life but it didn't sound so insane.
(Back to the chapter)
Yet again, Danny found himself in a position of an observant. Dan was now flying above the city, scanning it for some unknown reason. It was quiet up there, only faint sound of the traffic could be heard.
"Now lets get some attention." The sudden voice sounded like through a microphone in the silent space.
"What kind of attention do you mean." The boy inside asked carefully. He didn't want to give Dan any bad ideas, or ideas overall. Whatever he said could be used against him in a bad way.
"Just the front page of the newspaper, few minutes in the news on tv, a warrant and maybe the Batman's attention." The evil part said like it was nothing. Being a wanted criminal with mastered ghost powers running around a city could sound like fun but not to Danny. He knew that it wasn't him, who was going to terrorize this city but he felt responsible for Dan's action. All those bad things that happened in his life, like it wasn't enough. Being a homeless boy, afraid of himself and alone, plus he was about to become the most wanted criminal.
"Why are you doing this to me?" Danny's voice sounded inside of his head, at the verge of tears.
"I said I was going to make a living hell out of you life." The ghost answered and shrugged. If someone saw him, they would think that he was insane, talking to himself above the city.
"A 40-yard long street has a tree every 10 yards on both sides. How many trees are there?"
"Is that a riddle?" Danny asked in disbelief. Dan was about to get himself a front page in the newspaper and he was asking riddles?
"Well no you idiot, it's a fairytale."
"..."
"Just answer." Dan now sounded annoyed, as if he was dealing with a small child. The human side thought about it for a while before he got an answer.
"If you have 40 yards... you have one tree at the start of the road, the second one at 10 yards, the third one at 20, the fourth at 30 and the last at 40. At the end you just multiply it by two because you have two side. The answer is 10."
"Nice math skills there." The ghost remarked sarcastically. Danny could feel Dan's excitement rising. He didn't know why he wanted him to answer a riddle but with Dan, you can never be sure. "Now lets take the lovely number 10 and do something about it. For example rob 10 people of an opportunity to live." A deep chuckle followed.
"No Dan, please don't do this. I'll do anything." Danny was desperate now. He didn't want those innocent people die tonight by his hand.
"I want YOU to kill those people. I'm not picky, it can be anyone..."
"Stop it please... why do you want to kill those innocent people?"
"I told you before. Because I can. So the question is. Will you kill those people or not?"
"NO and you neither!" Dan laughed at his younger self, how he wanted to stop him so badly but there was no way in talking him out of it.
Dan scanned the city, looking for his first victim. "Hmmm, I have never killed a member of the GCPD before. Let's try something new." The Ghost side thought, toying around with his human side.
A piercing noise hit Dan's ears. Police sirens weren't that bad but with his enhanced hearing, it hurt a lot. He glided gracefully through the air, following the cars wherever they were heading. An ectoplasmic ball formed in the ghost's hand. The bright beam flew right into the engine of the police vehicle, blowing it up. Two police officers stepped out of their car, injured and very confused. They didn't expect a flying creature, laughing maniacally. Both of them fell on the ground because of their injuries and shock.
On instinct, two guns were aimed right on Dan's chest. He didn't blame them, he has just crashed their car AND he was about to kill one. One of the officers got a small boost of courage and decided to stand up to the ghost.
"Put your hands in the air." The male officer shouted "...and get down." He added after a while because he wasn't used to flying people.
Dan did exactly what he was told to but with his small addition. As soon as his feet touched the ground, his hands over his head, he made two hand pistols. Two small rays were fired, both hitting their targets. One ray hit the officers gun out of his hand and the second one hit its target. The second officer who was still lying on the ground fell limp with blood oozing from his chest, right where his heart was.
"There we go, one down and nine to go." Dan told no one in particular but then his head turned to the terrified officer. "You can go and make me famous." His voice was deep and cold, making the policeman run away. There were dozens of other people watching the scene in front of them but no one knew what to do. Dan has decided to make it quick and shot two random people, both of them falling dead to the ground.
Danny has been watching the whole scene with horror. He knew that his future self was a cold murderer but he has never seen him kill someone. The human side of Dan remained silent, he didn't know how to persuade him to stop, not mentioning how to take over.
<<<6 murders after>>>
"Please Dan, I'm asking you the hundreds time. Just stop it." Danny has been crying now. Dan has been picking people to kill for a whole day. Not that Danny liked watching people die but he was trying to talk Dan out of killing the whole time and he didn't even care to answer. The ghost side was hardheaded and when he set a goal, there was no way of stopping him.
"Hmmmm..." was Dan's whole answer. It wasn't much but it was a sign of communication. "My next target will be..."
There was a long silence. Danny thought that after the long time he made Dan step back but he was just planning another murder. The young boy was getting sick of Dan, sick of those dead bodies, sick of his life! He just screamed, at the top of his lungs out of frustration.
"Will you stop it? I'm planning a big final so shut up!" The annoyed voice of Dan echoed in a small alley where his previous victim fell dead few minutes ago. He heard every single word his younger self said and he was beginning to regret his choice of living alongside his human self. All he has done was just whining, crying and listening to his constant craving to stop the killing.
"What about the billionaire Bruce Wayne. That should be fun."
"Why are you even talking to me? Even if I said something, that doesn't mean you would listen!" These words had an unidentified effect on the ghost. A new feeling has found a way out and since he didn't know how to deal with such things, he just pushed it away because it meant nothing to him.
"And the target is set."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
It's a filter chapter and I also made it a little shorter that the previous ones but I have a reason. The next chapter, I would like to bring up the batfam (more likely wayne-fam) so I hope you don't mind.

Love ❤️
