KEHLANI

"I just don't fucking understand." I sigh before taking a bite off the pasta Adora made for me.

"I do, " She shrugs. "Before this you knew I wasn't shit. Now Amir, he wasn't shitter." She says and I laugh at the poor choice of words.

"And your point is?"

"Maybe he did some dumbass street shit growing up, you don't know his position."

I sit this conversation out because I didn't wanna be insensitive considering how me and Adora grew up differently.

"You're supposed to be on my side here." I roll my eyes playfully.

"I am but I don't know what you want. What you've been telling me is that you don't want socialise with him because he carries a gun but he's giving you your space and you're mad?"

"I didn't want him to be the one to be acting distant, I wanted to end it."

"End what?"

"I don't know Adora. Whatever we had."

"So you like him?"

"Adora I don't know."

"What are you even saying to me right now?"

"I dont fucking know." I lean back into my bed, sighing  and she laughs.

"Do you like him?" She asks me again. I've known him for barely even 3 weeks, it was evident that he did have a effect on me but liking him might've been a stretch.

"Adora I don't know...shit, maybe? I don't know." She eyes me once the words escape my mouth.

"I would love to stay and talk," She says sarcastically "But I need to get ready and see my man." She sticks her tongue out, bobbing her hair around.

Bitches get a bob once...

"We get ittt damnnn." I say as we both laugh, referring to her bob that she's been talking about the whole day.

"Byeee, love you." She says as she packs her phone and lip gloss.

"Leave my house." I chuckle and she flips me off before leaving the room.

I hear the door shut before I check my phone for any messages from him but none. I click on his Instagram story.

In the studio, as usual. Maybe I should go over there and bring him food? I don't know.

Yeah. I will.

40 minutes later

As soon as he opens the door he smile's at me and I smile back. I hope he missed me. I look behind him to see someone else- a girl.

She was beautiful.

"Kehlani?" He rubs the back of his neck as his smile slowly fades.

"Is this a bad time? I'm sorry-

The woman interrupts, giving me and Amari a tight-lipped smile and a small wave before walking out the building completely.

"She's a model, I was hired to take pictures of her. Just like I did with Adora." He finds a need to reassure me and I smile.

I just wonder if he called the rest of his clients beautiful like he did with me.

"It's cold." He mumbles before pulling me by my free hand into the studio.

"Did you need anything?" He asks me and I frown.

"Oh, no. Just wanted to bring you this." I raise the bag of food to his face and he smiles once more.

"Thank you," He grabs the bag from my hand and looks inside which is followed by a smile.

I knew he would like it.

"You didn't eat?" He turns up to me.

"I did, on the way here." I reply and he nods before setting the bag of food down and putting his jacket on.

"You came here by car?" He asks me and I scrunch my face up in confusion.

"Yeah why?"

"I wanted to take you somewhere." He replies before grabbing his keys and the bag of food, walking out and I follow behind him.

"Take me where?" I ask as he locks the studio up. He pauses for a second and turns to me then continues putting the safety code in.

So strange.

"Let's go to my car." He walks over to his Mercedes, opening the door for me. His car was a blur in my memory but I did remember it being beautiful. My memory was right.

I get in the car and a few seconds later he's in his seat. He turns to me and points at the seatbelt like he's someone's father.

"Stop worryin' about me." I roll my eyes before strapping myself up in the car.

He opens the styrofoam box and begins to eat one of his birria tacos. He ate loud but it wasn't inappropriate, it was slightly cute.

I turn to him and realise I put my seatbelt on for no reason as we wasn't even going anywhere.

"What are we doing heree?" I ask, taking off my seatbelt. I see him smirk from the corner of my eye.

"You scared?" He asks.

"What?"

"You scared of me?" He repeats, referring to the gun situation.

"Im not."

"I thought you were scared of me, so I left you alone." He replies before starting his second taco.

"That's not your decision to make."

"I got my gun on me right now. It's under your seat," He replies, staring right through me. "You not scared?"  He asks me as I breathe heavily.

"I'm not scared." I reply. I don't know if I was or not. It actually just made me more attracted to him.

"You know i'm gonna keep that shit on me 24/7." He replies.

"Are you trying to scare me out of talking to you?"

"I'm telling you how it's gonna be like if you fuck with me." He answers simply. I appreciated how forward he was being.

"Will anything happen to me?"

"Never," He puts his hand on my leg that I was simultaneously bouncing up and down and I immediately stop. "I promise you that." He says.

"Remember when you said you were gonna take me somewhere?" I turn to him and he smiles.

"That's for another day," He replies. "But for today, i'm taking you somewhere else ." He chuckles.
