AMIR

"You ever done naked shoots?" Kasey asked me causing me to chuckle.

"Yeah I done a few." I reply, unboxing stuff for the studio.

"So they just let you see their titties out and shit." He pauses, turning to me.

"It ain't like that bu- well yeah basically."

"You ever fuck one of them?" He asks. I ignore the question and continue setting cameras on the shelves. I turn to my phone which was blowing up.

Kehlani

"The fuck?" I mumbled under my breath yet Kasey's big ass ears heard.

"You good?" He looks up, alarmed. I nod before picking up my phone and fully reading the messages.

"Aye can you finish this for me? I gotta make a run." I ask as I put on my north face puffer.

"Fuck that im going home." He scoffs, standing up. Both our attention is turned to Za as she walks in with Dion. One of my first models to officially join my agency.

"Y'all done?" Za asks the both of us.

"Yeah we done," He replies. "I'm 'bout to go, you coming?"

"Nah me and Dion got some stuff to do." She declines and Kasey nods. You could tell the energy shifted in the room but that weren't ever my business.

"Aye I gotta go." I say, tired of the awkwardness. I rush the group out and lock up before driving over to the parking lot where Kehlani wanted to meet.

KEHLANI

"You got a new car?" I ask awkwardly and he nods in return. "...You okay?"

"You text me to pull up to some lot and shit like I don't have stuff to do just tell me what you need." He replies slightly coldly. I do understand though, we haven't spoke in at least a week.

"I understand but all that attitude isn't fucking needed, fix that shit." I reply, tilting my head

He stands against the side of his car door and looks up at me, undressing me with his eyes.

"What's wrong 'Lani?" He asks in a calmer tone. His voice does something to me, I missed it. I inhale and heavily exhale before looking back up to him.

"I got 3 hours, take your time." He insured causing me to smile.

"AmirIthinkIampregnant." I blurt out quickly but judging from his face he understood every single bit.

"What do you mean 'Lani?" He looks down at the table which scares me.

"I done 2 tests, 1 was positive and the other was negative. I tried to get one more but i'm scared Amir, im scared." I reply. He nods and stays quiet for a while.

"Let's just try again. I dont feel like we should go check at a hospital just yet." He replies. I don't know if I liked the answer or not.

"Okay."

"When did this happen?" He asks.

"Yesterday. I was late for my period and that never happens so I tried and.. yeah."

"Why didn't you tell me yesterday?"

"I didn't know how to." I reply. He sighs and leans back in his seat.

"You hungry?" He asks causing me to smile. He puts his hand out and I put mine in his before he walks us to his car.

2 hours later

"If I am-

"If you are you don't have to worry about it, I'll handle my business like a man."

"Amir it's more to a child then 'handling shit like a man'." I tell him before taking another bite of my meal.

"I know 'Lani." He shrugs.

"If I am," I repeat slower. "What are we going to do?" I ask.

"Would you want to keep it?" He asks and I pause for a while.

"Yeah, I think I would."

"Then that's what we would do Kehlani. We'd keep it and do our thing right?" He says and I nod.

"How have you been?" I question, reverting the topic of conversation.

"I been cool," He shrugs before starting again. "I feel like something missing, im doing everything well but I ain't really happy."

"Why is that?"

"I don't know, I just been feeling empty." He shrugs before taking in more food in his mouth. I didn't appreciate how quickly he turned down his feelings, I wanted him to know he could be vulnerable with me.

"You wanna talk about it?" I ask him and he shakes his head. "Why not?"

"I gotta fix some shit at the studio, let's go and get this shit done with." He dismisses.

Okay then.

AMIR

"Amir!" She shouts from her bathroom door. I've been standing outside here for so long, I don't even remember how long it's been. I don't know how I feel about the answer that could come.

I knock on the door and she opens it. Her face matches my thoughts.

"You pregnant?" I ask and she mugs me for a while before pointing at three of the tests on top of the edge of the tub.

"Go look at it..I can't." She sighs. I look at the tub and walk slowly over towards the trio.

I pick up all three of them at a time and read the results before turning to her. She's scared.

"Amir what is it?" She urges.

"It's negative mama, all of them." I reply and she lets out a deep sigh of relief.

"Thank you for being there for me, I appreciate it."

"It's cool, what's up with your period though?" I question and she sits besides me on the edge of the tub.

"Probably just acting up it's not uncommon." She replies, rubbing her hands against her thighs.

"If that test was positive I would be there for you." I reassure and she gives me a smile.

She's so beautiful.

I feel my phone go off and check the screen. I mug the screen for a while before stepping out the room to answer it.

- Amir? You there?

Niyah what's up?

-We having a lil get together to celebrate June's death date.

Yeah, this week right?

-Mama just told me to remind you, you went all hollywood on us now.

I stopped her right there because I hated the phrase. I ain't ever switched up on anyone, she knew that.

Nah chill don't do that, you know my situation. I'll be there though.

-Okay, thank you.

Aye Niyah, I ain't staying for long. I don't want to hear shit.

-I understand that, see you next week.

"You okay?" Kehlani says from behind me. I turn and instantly smile.

"I'm cool, I need to go." I tell her and she nods regretfully.

"Stay safe youngin'." She says, mocking me causing me to chuckle.

"Bye Kehlani." I kiss her cheek before giving her a small wave and leaving.
