KEHLANI

"You never told me Amir was the one who recorded and produced Drake's music video?" I gasp as I look through the song's information.

"Damn suck his dick already." She says, laughing through the phone.

"Shit I might." I mumble under my breath.

"Girl- okay oh- my man is calling." She laughs and I roll my eyes.

"Which one? Man 1,2? 3?" I say before she ends the call.

Whore.

I open my mouth to say something but I get a call from my dad which is a surprise because he never calls me. It will usually be a text or my mom will speak for him on the phone.

"Kehlani, don't forget about Kieron's game." He tells me.

"I was never going to forget." I reply.

"Should I pick you up? ." He asks through a muffled mouth which was most likely full of food. A habit I have never appreciated.

"No I'll drive over there." I tell him.

My dad played in the NBA and my older brother followed his path. Unfortunately, we never see them so it's usually just me, my mom and my dad now that he's retired. But if he ever had a game, we would always be there.

"The game ends late meaning you'll get home late. This is why you should've never moved out." He sighs dramatically as if i'm going to move back in.

"Dad don't start. Text me the address." I say and he ends the call. I didn't expect a bye so I wasn't shocked.

Now what am I going to wear?

AMIR

The arena gets fuller and a bunch of celebrities are courtside alongside me. About three, I take pictures with and some others I simply just dap them up.

There's a loud commotion as the players start to walk in but it's all drowned out as I find my eyes on her.

AFTER THE GAME

KEHLANI

Kieron jogs over to my seat after finishing up with some fans that were leaving.

"Hey sis." He pulls me in for a hug and I hold him tighter than I realised. I missed him so much.

"I missed you so much Kee." I dramatically wipe my fake tears.

"You good?"

"Nah, you was ass. Your team needs me foreal." I playfully punch his arm.

"Oh i'm ass? Come on the court right now." Kieron pulls my arm before I can say anything else and leads me onto the court.

He picks up one of the many balls and throws it at me and just in time, I catch it.

"Watch this." I point at the ball and he chuckles.

I mimick one of his plays, doing a left-handed layup and the ball goes into the net. I only got the courage to do this since the arena was basically empty.

He claps his hands like a proud mom.

"A little rusty but," He raises his hands in defeat.

I walk over to catch the ball before it rolls off the court and as I look up I see him.

Holding his camera as usual even though the lanyard is right around his neck.

"Kehlani." He smiles for at least the third time since i've met him. It's adorable. He should really smile more.

"Amir." I smile back.

"You didn't tell me you were Damien Iman's daughter." He replies.

"I'm surprised you didn't know." I chuckle. I didn't look like any of my family members so it made sense for the confusion. I was also never in the spotlight so most of my pictures were of me as a child.

"You're watching your brother's game im guessing?" He asks me and I nod.

"What are you doing here?" I ask him and he raises his camera up to his jaw.

"I can't watch a basketball game no more?" He responds. I hear his nigerian accent slightly comes out of hiding.

"Courtside too, I see you." I chuckle softly but he doesn't, he keeps his gaze on me.

"What can I say?" He replies sarcastically as he licks his lips.

We both look back to Kieron yet he acts if he wasn't staring at us.

"Come on. Let me introduce you." I walk over to him and Amir follows behind

"Kee, this is Amir." I point at Amir as Jamie eyes him.

"Hello." Amir says awkwardly.

"What's good?" Kieron looks at me then him before dapping Amir up.

"Great game today." Amir says.

"You're the dude who made Drake's video." Jamie points out and Amir nods. I don't know how everyone knew but me.

"Yeah I did." He replies, fiddling with the camera which was in his hands.

I see a few more fans approaching over to my dad and Kieron. Not wanting to get in their spotlight I walk over back to the courtside and Amir follows.

"I expected to be more intimidated." He says and I laugh.

"Me too. He must like you."Β  I giggle slightly. I take the small silence to stare in his eyes and they were beautiful.

He turns to me but I look straight, facing Kieron who was now taking pictures with fans again.

I hear a click and turn to him. He has a camera placed in his hands with the lenses facing me.

"If i'm pretty just say that." I roll my eyes.

"You're beautiful." He says emotionless, it's kind of scary but attractive. He always spoke with a nonchalant manner and his deep voice didn't help.

I open my mouth to speak but i'm interrupted by Jamie walking over to us.

"It was nice to see you lil sis . Thank you for coming." He smiles, showing off his pearly whites.

"You're not coming home tonight?" I ask him as I pull him into hug and he shakes his head no.

"What?" I whine.

"I know i'm sorry, you'll see me sometime this month." He replies.

"Month?" I sigh.

"You know how it gets." He shrugs.

"I love you, be safe."

"I love you too damn," He chuckles before facing Amir.

"Nice to meet you." He says to him and Amir nods before shaking his hand.

He hugs me and says his bye's to everybody else before jogging into wherever else his team was.

He turns to me and I look away immediately. His gaze is always so intense.

"I think we're going to get kicked out soon." I look around the empty arena. In the corner of my eye, I see my parents walking towards us.

I use the advantage to stand up and get to them before they get to us but it doesn't work.

"Parents, this is Amir. Amir, that's my parents." I start before they say a word.

"It's nice to meet you." He puts his hand out to my mother first but she disregards it, pulling him in for a hug.

Cute.

He then shakes my dad's hand which is much more firm.

"How come I've only met you today?" My dad grunts. Amir turns to me for support but my mom begins to speak.

"Damien stop. It's lovely to meet you too son, I just wish it was earlier." She gives him a smile but I don't know if it's genuine.

"He's not my boyfriend." I tell the two of them. I see my dad internally exhale but my mom keeps smiling.

"Oh- well. A friend of my daughter is a friend of the family and we're happy to meet you."

"I appreciate it." He says lowly.

"Well we're going to get going." My dad speaks to Amir than all three of us.

After we all say our goodbyes, that's exactly what we do. I look back to Amir who gives me one last smile before walking off.
