AMIR

"This is big as fuck." Darrel chuckles as we look at the empty plot of land in front of us.

"You need anything, just tell me. I need this shit done." I tell him and he nods.

"I won't fail you." He turns from the plot then looks to me. The best architectures we're offered to me but I know only Darrel can do job, besides from Rico and Curtis he was the only one who knew me the most.

"I saw Curtis." I tell him.

"You did? How's he doing?" He asks me and I shake my head.

"He ain't getting any better any time soon." I sigh.

"It wasn't your fault, you know that right?" Darrel looks up to me but I wave him off.

"We both know it is, I knew what the fuck I was doing D." I respond but he doesn't, he keeps quiet.

I don't blame him.

"How's your girlfriend?" He asks, switching the conversation to a lighter note.

I open my mouth to speak but she calls me right in the moment. Darrel gives me a playful smile before I accept it.

"Hey baby." I say into the camera. I look around her surroundings and she's at a cafe? No, a diner.

"Is there a reason as to why you haven't answered any of my texts?" She asks with some attitude in her voice.

I scroll down to see a bunch of unread messages from her.

Now why didn't I see that?

"My bad ma, i've been busy the whole day."

"Too busy that you couldn't tell me?" She tilts her head in the camera. I did mess up but I can't focus when she's this fucking beautiful.

"I know, i'm sorry. I'll make it up to you."

"Bye Amir." She ends the call before I get a chance to say something. I look up to Darrel who bursts out into laughter.

"Why you ain't text her back huh?" He chuckles as we get in the car. I send her a small text before putting my phone in my pocket and driving Darrel home.

"Yo, how's your moms doing?" He turns me and I shrug. Me and Darrel's parents had a very strong relationship which originally formed ours.

"When's the last time you seen her?"

"Shit I don't even know." I stretch as I lean back into my seat.

"Well if you do, tell her I said hi and shit." He says before dapping me up.

"I love you man." I tell him as he gets out the car. I felt a need to tell him specifically today, I don't know why.

"I love you brother." He replies before walking into his house. I look around the area from my mirrors before driving off.

I think about my mother but I delete the thought quickly. I would love nothing more but to see her but she probably hates me too.

I take a hard swerve to drive back to the studio and get ready for my next client who wanted a newborn photoshoot.

-Don't end the call like that on me ever again.
I told you i'll make it up to you.

We'll see.

- Yeah we will, i'm seeing you tonight.

I want to argue it but I know he would come over anyway. Instead, I heart the message and switch my phone off before looking up to Zeke who was walking over to me.

(ZEKE^)

"You enjoyed your food?" He asks me with a smile on his face, Zeke was always smiling I swear.

"It was good, thank you." I reply.

"How's Kieron doing? I feel like he's been dodging me." He says as we walk into IKEA.

He recently just moved out here and I was helping him shop for his new house.

"He's been dodging all of us, but you know Kee." I shrug it off. He's always been like this.

"That your boyfriend?" He asks referring to the notification that just came up on my phone.

I looked down at my phone but it was just Adora.

"I don't have a boyfriend." I chuckle as I think about Amir.

"So who's that dude you was calling when we were eating? And the same one who pulled up to your house."

"Right, i'm sorry about that too." I say, slightly embarrassed now.

"So who is he?" He asks.

"He's someone- I don't really know." I shrug.

"Well do you like him?" He asks me as he checks out a oak drawer.

"I do but he's just so complicated."

"How?" He asks, still keeping his focus on the drawer. I would start with how he doesn't know how to communicate at all but I wouldn't feel comfortable speaking about my relationship with Zeke. It just wouldn't be right. Instead I wave the question off and lead the topic into his career.

AMIR

"You're earlier than I expected." Kehlani says as she opens the door. Her eyes wavers down to the roses in my hand.

"I kept my promise." I say as I pass the flowers to her. She smells them as we both walk into her house.

"Are they scented?" She asks, containing to sniff the petals. I nod in return.

"I love themmm, thank you." She says as she walks into her kitchen. She sets them in a particular place in the kitchen alongside the last flowers I got her.

"You said they died." I say, pointing to the perfect bouquet of flowers.

"About thatttt." She giggles before walking over to me. My hands find their way around her waist, the perfect fit.

"If you wanted flowers you could've just said that, I'll get them whenever." I tell her before pecking her lips. She pulls me in and kisses me once more.

"What did you do today?" She asks me as we walk into her living room. She had 3 in total but you could tell which one was her favorite.

"I was with Darrel, we was making some plans for my new studio then I had a photoshoot I had to do, " I tell her as she sits down. "What 'bout you?"

"You know my friend... Ezekiel? He moved here recently so I was just helping him out." She says, looking away from me.

"Nah I don't know no Zeke." I reply.

"The guy you saw that day." She responds. I scrunch my face up but she starts to defend herself.

"We just took a walk that day and he dropped me home Amir. Ive known him since forever he's just a childhood friend." She reassures and I nod.

"Helping him out how?" I ask and she sighs.

"Helping him unpack, showing him around, stuff like that." She explains and I nod.

"I know damn well you're not mad at me because of that." She scoffs.

"I didn't say anything."

"Yeah but that's saying a lot." She sighs.

"I'm not mad," I tell her. "Come here."ย  I straighten her legs out onto the couch before laying on top off her, my head resting on her stomach.

"Im sorry for not communicating today, i'm still learning." I tell her before kissing the front of her hand.

"Just tell me if you're going to be busy next time." She whispers.

"I will, I don't want to disappoint you." I say from beneath her. I can feel her smiling, I just know she is.
