Special Episode 154 - Never judge a book by its cover

Anwesha ma'am was busy reading documents when the sound of thunder distracted her. The sound filled the room through the door opening as Gautam opened the door to walk in.

Anwesha ma'am rolls her eyes up to see Gautam walk in, close the door and sit on the chair opposite to her. Gautam sat comfortably, leaning back with his legs crossed. Sensing that something didn't seem right, Anwesha ma'am straightens up and,

AMaam - What brings you here, Gautam?
G (carelessly) - Me? Compensation of course.
AMaam - Pardon?

Anwesha ma'am looked confused while Gautam realized he may have made a mistake with his choice of words,

G - Wrong choice of words. What brought me here is "Curiosity". Aapko shayad khabar aayi hogi, Main Urmila ji ko jail mein milney gaya tha. And I have some information. So I thought, I'll meet you up, give you the information and get my fair share of money over it.
AMaam (lets out a laugh) - You want me to pay you?
G - Of course. The information is totally worth it.
AMaam (surprised) - I didn't know you were this kind of a person.
G - I didn't either. But then, (funny, annoyed) Itne dinon mein ek din ki che'ien ki neendh bhi nahi mili. School se Office, Office se investigation. Kaam karta hi raha. Aur mila kya? Sir se bohat saara daa'nt. Aur Siyali se ek Thank you. (Lets out a breath) Unbelievable. You know how Siyali is. Strong, Presuasive and really really.....pretty.

Anwesha ma'am widened her eyes in shock while Gautam looked dreamy,

G - Obviously, I didn't tell her that. But I was being way to obvious and still she didn't notice that. She asked me for help aur mujhe laga help karunga toh impress ho jaa'egi. Par nahi. Sid ke paas bhaag gayi. (Pauses) Urmila ma'am jail gayi, I thought at least ab Sid ka bhoot sar sey nikla hoga. Par nahi. Plan kuch kiya aur Kuch aur hogaya.

Anwesha ma'am stared at Gautam while he looked left and right embarrassed as he told her about his feelings for Siyali,

G (serious) - Well. That being said. Naa case mila, na ladki mili... At least Paisa toh mil sakta hai. After all, I need to be compensated for all the physical and mental trauma I had to go through. Don't you think? Aur waise bhi, information kuch zyaada hi critical hai. Jo andhar hai usey bahar nikaal sakti hai. Aur Jo bahar hai usse andhar bhi karwa sakti hai. Soch li jiye!

Gautam looked up with an evil stare and a sadistic smile,

AMaam (shocked) - I never thought you had these intentions. Logon ne aise hi nahi kehdiya "Never judge a book by its cover".

Gautam smirked hearing this comment and staring back at her, communicating with his eyes that her comment is not going to have any affect on him.

AMaam - By now you should know, you can't get a single penny out of me through unlawful means.
G - Unlawful?

Gautam laughs.

G - Yeh unlawful kaisa hua? Law doesn't prohibit anyone to get paid for the work they've done. Aur mainey toh bohat kaam kiya hai. (Pauses) Woh bhi aapkey liye.

Gautam stares into Anwesha ma'am eyes.

G - Advisory services ofcourse. Yaad dila'oon aapko? "What is the best evidence to indict someone? Getting caught in the act of crime - Red handed"

[Flashback]
On the day Anwesha ma'am was back to India, Gautam was sitting in her office explaining to her the entire situation,

AMaam - If Urmila is guilty and you need evidence, what is the best evidence to indict someone?
G - I guess, Getting caught in the act of crime - Red-handed.

Anwesha ma'am nodded her head slolwy as she contemplated over what Gautam said.
[Flash back ends]

Both of them look at each other intensely,

G - It took me some time to realise. But someone said "If not for her second attempt to murder, Urmila ma'am would've totally gotten away with her first so called "Murder"."

Gautam quoted Rohan's statement that he had told when Gautam was talking to Vidurshi.

G - And then it clicked. 4 mahiney aur ek bhi evidence nahi mila. Kyun? Kyun ki main Urmila ma'am ke khilaf evidence dhoond raha tha. Aur aapse baat karke kuch hi din huye, aur woh Jail main (pauses) I guess even smart people are blinded. Shayad ye hi wajah hai..., Kisi undekhi cheez ke khooj main, Jo saamne tha, woh dekha nahi. Urmila Rajput was definitely part of this game, but she wasn't the one who devised it. It was you.

THUD! DUD! The sound of thunder along with lightening pierced into the room as the room darkened due to the increasing storm. Gautam got off his chair and started walking towards the end of the room,

G - According to her prescription, Urmila ma'am had to take at least half the bottle of tablets for her to have the amount of drugs in her blood. But she took only two. But you switched her tablets for a higher dosage. You knew that the case could've easily gotten away if not for the public, and so you gave the idea of inaugurating on Urmila ma'am birthday and broadcasting the surprise. Aur media ki attention paaney ke liye aapney Bhavya Dutt ko invite kiya aur Siyali ko unse milwaya. You're a sinister genius. Kitna pakka planning. Hats off. But credits toh sirf aapko nahi dey sakta. Jisney actually kiya, wow, what precise timing and what perfect implementation. Aapki PA.

Passing the cupboard and racks to the glass partition that separated the principal room from the conference room and guest room. Noticing the lightening come through the open windows in the guest room,

G - This is why Urmila ma'am needs to grow her hair. Aapki PA ke saath... What striking resemblance man!

Gautam laughs as he pushes the glass partition which opened. He turns to look at Anwesha ma'am and walks inside the guest room to close the windows. (Explaining how the person attacking Siyali got away as the glass partition was the blind spot as the CCTV camera's coverage couldn't get through after the cupboard)

Gautam quickly got back into the office room and watched Anwesha ma'am make a call.

G - Don't worry ma'am. I'm not here to threaten you. I'm here to make a deal.
AMaam - A deal?

Anwesha ma'am asked after she sneakily sent a message, "Come. Right now" and flipped her phone screen down. Gautam walks to in front of Anwesha ma'am and,

G - Yes. It's not very difficult to get Urmila ma'am out of jail. The only reason she's still in is because of media coverage. Max to Max ek aur haftey, and bringing her out is way too easy because there are many loopholes in the case. I'll make sure she never gets out. I'll get rid of every loop hole.

He sits down, back into his chair and,

G - I did some digging up. Siyali ke upar do baar ke attack ki wajah Warrior High ki ownership ki wajase hai. (Pauses) I'll make sure she or anyone else ever gets to know about that. I'll take her back with me. I'll make sure she gets adopted legally, back into the family.... as Shreya.
AMaam - And you think she'll come with you?
G - Haan. I might not know how to get into her heart but I know how to get into her brains.
AMaam - And what do you expect in return?
G - Just three very simple things. (1) Siyali. Promise that you'll not try to hurt her anymore. (2) 20% of Warrior High's network, in cash. After all, Siyali ka hai. Poora nahi hai toh at least she deserves this much. And (3) some answers. I can't live with so much curiosity.

Anwesha ma'am continued to stare at Gautam as silence filled up the space between them until the the silence was broken with Anwesha ma'am loud smirk. She tilted her head and with a small nod,

AMaam (calm) - Kya jaan-na chahtey ho?
G - Why? You tried to kill Siyali, not once but twice. I know that every criminal has justified reasons. And someone of them even makes sense. But murder. Woh bhi aap. After all your principles of right and wrong. I don't think murder can be justified. It's just pure evil.

Anwesha ma'am keeps the pen down, gets up from her seat and walks out of the table,

AMaam - Let me ask you something, Gautam. Imagine you and the love of your life drowing. Ofcourse, You loves her. You would probably take a bullet for her. But she starts pulling you down to keep himself afloat.

She stares at Gautam with intense and scary eyes,

AMaam - You can't breathe. You can't think straight and you're losing air every second. You're lung begin to seize. You're watching yourselves die.....with the source to save yourself.....a lunge away.

*BREATHES* Gautam looks at her feeling the pressure off her stare.

AMaam - Can you imagine what that feels like? The desperation to survive. The madness. If someone was pulling you down for them to survive, would you be able enough to let her live and watch you die. Remember, she's the one trying to pull you down. What would you do? Would you hate her or help her? And you're just seconds away from life.

The two of them continue to stare at each other, imagining a situation of survival. "Huh!" Guatam breathes out with an impressed smile.

G (in disbelief) - You had me there for a minute! That's some twisted and unnecessary simulation if you ask me. In simpler words, you're telling me that this was self defense?
AMaam - This sound more dramatic. Don't you think?

Anwesha ma'am said with a sadornic smile as she crossed her hands against each other and leaned on the table few feet away from Gautam,

G - Jo bhi hai. Aap apney inn actions ko self defense ka naam math di'jiye. Agar main sahi hoon, toh Jo bhi aapney kiya pre-planned tha. Both the times. What you did, (stressing) has nothing to do with survival.

Gautam stressed on the fact as he looked annoyed with her reasoning,

AMaam (mocking) - Survival? (Laughs) To the world, Survival could mean anything. But to us, Survival means Power. Survival means name, fame, influence, control and of course, wealth. There are thousands of business empires, Gautam but Rajputs ka naam aur reputation, Warrior High se hai. And that is why, I can not allow anything or anyone to tarnish Warrior High.
G - Kisko bewakoof bananey ki koshish kar rahi hain? Agar baath Warrior High aur Rajputs ke naam pe hota, toh aaj Urmila "Rajput" jail mein nahi hoti.

Anwesha ma'am smirks and,

AMaam - Then what is your theory?
G - Mine? I think that your recent attempt to kill Siyali was to frame Urmila ma'am. But she wasn't your target for your first attempt. That was Siyali. And what I don't understand is why that particular day? Poora saal school mein thi, Agley din wapas Orphanage, you could've planned this any other day, any other time. Why that particular day?

Gautam's eyes sparkled with curiosity,

G - Honestly speaking, I'm more curious as to "How" than "Why". Agar sab kuch planned tha, toh kaise? (Confused) How was something planned based on an uncertain event? Aapko kaise patha chala ke Sid uss din, uss time pe, Siyali ko Haunted house leykey aa'ega ki aapney un so called "poachers" jo actually kidnappers the unko wahan plan kiya. All that planning based on... What?

Anwesha ma'am nodded as she decided to whether to tell Gautam or not. She let go her arms and places both of them on the table behind her,

AMaam - How do I simply put this?

Anwesha ma'am rolls her eyes, holding her lips together and making a sharp sound as she thought. After she decided on the correct words, she looked into Gautam's eyes and,

AMaam - Sid is on my side.

Gautam who was leaning on the backside of chair, straightened his back and with widened eyes, looked at her in shock while Anwesha ma'am stood with a calm smile.
