Chapter 81 : A Hot Potato

In the corridor, Megha and Yakshit were seen sitting on the floor,

Y - We're surely going to be suspended.

Me - Chill Yakshit. Maximum detention de'ngey. Aur kuch nahi.

Y (tired) - Tumhe protest karna hai toh karo, par main kyun karoon protest?

Me - Well you're the one who said kuch bhi aasani se nahi milega. Ladna padta hai.

Y (shocked) - I didn't mean protesting in front of the principal's office. Vidyut bhaiya, Isse please samja'eye na.

As they sat in front of the Principal's office, Vidyut stood in front of them trying to understand,

Vd - Yeh kya naya drama hai Megha?

Me - Drama nahi hai. This is me initiating change. Jab se school aayi hoon, cheekh cheekh ke keh rahi hoon mujhe bhi boxing seekhna hai. Par nahi, boxing is just for boys. Warrior High is being sexist. And this is my chance to bring change.

Vd - Toh? What makes you think that they'll listen to you now?

Megha gives an evil look and smirks,

Me - Kal se exchange program hai, best time to protest. Their reputation is on the line, Iss Barr inhe maanna hi padhega.

Vd (impressed) - Clever.

Y - Sirf hum dono ke aise betney se kuch nahi hone waala hai.

Yakshit spoke pessimistically as he sat helplessly with palm on his cheek.

Me - Don't be so negative Yakshit. More people will join.

Vd (pausing) - I... Don't think anyone is interested... In this boxing.. I mean in this so called change.

A - Or may be... They are. Protest toh change ke liye ho raha hai. Nothing about what kind of change.

Angela walked towards them and had a big smile.

Vd - This doesn't seem good.

Vidyut was scared seeing Angela's smile. He knew something was going to happen. Within few months, Angela gathered her friends and joined Megha. They all sat holding few pluck cards "We need Change". But not everyone was happy about the protest but had to join as Angela strategically (emotional blackmail) pulled them in.

While the others sat down on the corridor, Sid and Vidyut were standing getting signature of students who wanted change but were too scared to participate in the protest.

Vd (irritated) - We are in 12th standard. We should be attending classes and studying. Not doing this.

He looks at Parth who was sitting and studying in the propest with a book in hand.

Vd (angry) - How come Parth gets to study and I don't.

A (sly) - That's because Parth isn't my slave for the week.

Vidyut looks at Sid who was staring at Megha.

S (irritated) - Megha, Tumhe kya zaroorat hai yeh sab karne ki? Weren't you trying really hard to run away from school? Aur koi rasta nahi mila toh apney aap ko suspend karane ki koshish kar rahi ho kya? Shuru ho gayi "Change. Badlaao. Yeh. Woh".

Sid and Megha's eyes were shooting rays at each other when Shreya interfered,

Sh (taunting) - Tum chinta math karo, Megha. When you try to climb up, there will be some crabs trying to pull you down, Just kick them and continue your climbing.

S - Did you just call me a crab?

Sid said with an "unbelievable" expression looking back at Shreya as she stared at him.

Me - Thank you Shreya. And Sid, mujhe ek badha hi simple raasta milgaya. A way out of Warrior High. But I don't plan on using it. For now.

S (teasing) - Kyun koi milgaya kya?

Me - Haan. Ek bakra. Jiskey saath unfinished business hai.

K - Like really! (Annoyed) Yahan koi competition chal rahi hai kya? Stop behaving sassy. Both of you. This is as it is annoying.

Realising there was serious tension between Sid and Megha,

U (curious) - Sid, Tujhe panga lena pasand hai kya? School ke aadhey se zyada population ke saath tera koi na koi lafda hai.

S - That's because everyone wants to be Siddarth Rajput. Aur hai nahi, so they're just jealous.

Megha gave one extremely annoyed look as Sid started praising himself. Shreya patted Megha trying to calm her down. While this was going on in one side, on the other side,

Vi - Angela. Can I leave? Mujhe packing karni hai. Aaj raat ki flight hai. You know how slow I'm in packing.

A - Just few more minutes. Buss ek aur student yahan be'it jaa'ey, then you can leave.

Vidurshi nodded her head with a huge sigh. Rohan notices this and also sees Alex and few of his friends coming from the other side.

X (teasing) - What is this guys. Seriously. Act like seniors no. This can't get any more childish.

Ro (rebutting) - Waise Alex. I knew this guy jisse dialogue maarna bohat pasand tha. "All for one" "United we stand". That was you right? But yet, tumhare yeh do classmates ko hum seniors support kar rahe hain, not your so called "United class".

Rohan stared at Alex who was surprised to hear this while Yakshit and Megha were discussed on what was happening.

X (angry) - Guys. Sab ko bula'o. We need to show them what we are.

Alex tried to fit himself in between Megha and Yakshit while the two of them moved to give him some space. A few minutes later, the entire batch of class 11 had gathered in the corridor. Most of class 12 students had also joined. Some for the cause while the others just found this a good opportunity to bunk classes.

Ro (quietly) - Angela? Shall we leave now? Packing?

A (surprised) - Yes. You can leave

She looked at Vidurshi who was also surprised. Was this entire stunt just for Vidurshi because she wanted to leave early to pack. They decided not to give the benefit of the doubt.

An hour had passed and the teachers were getting anxious. They decided to send Aditya sir as the first resort to let him talk to the students.

Adi - How long are you guys going to keep this up?

A - Until our demands are fulfilled Sir.

Adi - You sound like a terrorist, Angela.

A few of them giggled hearing the comment.

Adi - You guys have blocked the entire corridor. Wahan teachers Urmila ma'am ko call karne ki baat kar rahe hain.

Me - That's what we want, Sir.

Adi - Megha, it's nice to see you take interest in other than running away.

Sid laughed out loud hearing the running away comments while the others stared at him,

Adi - Agar protest karna hi hai, toh better pause it for now, and resume it after Anwesha ma'am is back from London. You have better chances.

Me - No Sir. I think we have better chances with Urmila ma'am.

Adi - What makes you say that?

Me - Just a gut feeling.

Just as they were speaking, Urmila ma'am walked into the building with a bunch of teachers by her side. Seeing them, the students stand up at their places and look scared. Megha and Angela walk to the front of the group nearest to Urmila ma'am.

UMaam - You students never learn do you?

Urmila ma'am said looking stern while the students looked at each other not knowing what was next.
