School Life

Feng Jiu looked around, trying to find her class. "Oh wait, I forgot to hide my birthmark." Then she cast a spell to hide it.

Then she heard footsteps behind her, and she turned back to look. "Oh. He looks familiar." She thought to herself.

"Oh? It's you again. What are you doing here?" Then she instantly remembered him, and he was the guy who suggested for her to enroll in the school.

"Oh. Wen Chang, right? It's my first day at school, and I'm just trying to find my classroom."

"Yes, it's Wen Chang. It's nice to see you at school! What's your name?"

Feng Jiu pondered for a while, "I can't tell people my real name, as I need to hide my identity." Then she swiftly replied, "You can just call me Xiao Jiu."

"Oh. Nice to meet you, Xiao Jiu! By the way, I'm also heading towards your classroom, so I can bring you over if you want to. I'll also be in charge of your class from today onwards."

"In charge?"

"Oh. So I'm part of the Student Management team. So each senior would be allocated to different roles, and mine is to help out new students in the school. So you can come to me if you need help in the future."

"Oh, sure! Let's get going now. I don't want to be late!" Then Feng Jiu followed Wen Chang to her classroom. He also briefly introduced her to the school facilities and the good 'eating spots' in the school.

----------------------------------------

"Thanks for your help!" Feng Jiu said, and she quickly ran into the classroom. She felt a little nervous as she didn't know what to expect. Wen Chang then slowly walked into the classroom and sat at the teacher's table while waiting for the teacher to arrive.

Feng Jiu then found a nice seat beside the window, and she started to stare out of the window. She was considered early because there were only two other students in the class.

Right at this moment, both of them walked up to Feng Jiu. Then the girl waved at her and said, "Hey! I'm Xue Shan, and I'm the daughter of 山神 (Mountain God). What's your name?"

"Oh, hey! I'm Xiao Jiu, I am from Qing Qiu, but I'm born in a normal fox family." Feng Jiu smiled sweetly to Xue Shan. Then she turned over to the guy standing beside her and replied, "Hi there. What's your name?" Then she extended her hand out and tried to shake his hand.

Xue Shan immediately replied, "Oh, he's Wen Li. Son of 瘟神 (Plague God). Everyone thinks he's bad luck, and this is why everyone avoids being his friend!"

Wen Li then replied nervously, "I'm afraid to bring bad luck to you. It's better to stay away from me, so I'll not shake your hand."

"Stop talking nonsense! We have been friends for the past few thousands of years, and nothing bad happened to me." Xue Shan replied to Wen Li.

It turned out that Xue Shan and Wen Li were childhood friends. When Wen Li was still a child, everyone bullied him because of his parentage. Then he ran into the mountains to hide from those people, and that's how he met Xue Shan. Xue Shan always teased Wen Li, but she truly regards him as her close friend.

Feng Jiu then smiled at Wen Li and replied, "It's fine. I also don't believe in that nonsense about you being bad luck." Then she insisted on shaking his hand.

Wen Li held out his hand shyly and replied, "Thank you, Xiao Jiu. It's nice to meet you."

Then they started talking about their clan and their age.

"Hey! I'm 9,600 years old, and I'm older than you by 200 years old, so you have to listen to me." Xue Shan said to Wen Li.

"Age is just a number! It doesn't even matter." He argued back, and then Wen Li turned over to Feng Jiu, "How old are you, Xiao Jiu?"

Feng Jiu then stuttered, "Uh... about the same as you both." She gave a white lie. Xue Shan then said, "You shouldn't ask a girl for her age, it's rude! Obviously, she's our age, and you can also see how young she looks!"

Wen Li immediately apologized, and Feng Jiu just smiled awkwardly. She then thought internally, "Oh my gosh, if they knew my real age, it would be so embarrassing."

Xue Shan then grabs her bag from another table and moved seats to sit in front of Feng Jiu. Wen Li then sat down beside Xue Shan.

Soon, the class started to fill up, and there were only a total of 15 students. Feng Jiu said, "Hmm... I expected more people to be in school."

Xue Shan chuckled and replied, "Well, most of them are home-schooled. Being in here isn't as fun as you think it is. There are tons of homework too! I would rather be home-schooled; at least I could relax and take a nap whenever I want to."

Wen Li then replied, "Yeah, it's boring. All my other friends are having lots of fun, and I'm stuck here."

Feng Jiu then thought to herself, "Bored?! Why would they say that? Attending this school is so fun!"

Then they noticed a few girls staring at Wen Chang, and they whispered among themselves, "That's Senior Wen Chang, he's so handsome! The rumours were true!"

Xue Shan overheard their whispering, and she turned to Feng Jiu, "Did you hear about the rumours too?"

Feng Jiu replied, "Rumours? Sorry, I'm totally new here. I was always home-schooled before my dad decided to send me to school here."

"Oh, that made sense. We attended an affiliated school before enrolling here, so we heard all about Wen Chang. He's the most popular senior in this school. He's good at sports, he's handsome, and he's also smart! What a dream guy." Xue Shan replied.

Wen Li then replied sarcastically, "Yeah, dream guy. It means that you can only get him in your dreams. It's impossible in real life." It appeared that Wen Li seems to have a crush on Xue Shan.

"You're just jealous because you're none of that!" Xue Shan retorted.

"Oh? Wen Chang is popular. But my husband is even better!" Feng Jiu silently thought to herself. Then she replied, "Yeah. And he's nice too. He brought me over to the classroom earlier on."

"He what?! Countless girls tried to talk to him, and he would ignore them. But he actually walked you to the classroom? That's something new. Is there something going on between you two?!" Xue Shan exclaimed.

"No. No! There's nothing, please don't spread rumours like that! I'll get into trouble if someone hears it."

"Someone? Who?" Xue Shan smirked.

"Uh... uh, my boyfriend. Oh, but he's also just a nobody, back in Qing Qiu." Feng Jiu tried to hide the truth from them. Then she thought to herself, "I can't let them know about Di Jun!"

Xue Shan then replied, "Oh, you already have a boyfriend. Sorry about that, I won't say nonsense like that anymore!" And she smiled sweetly.

"Don't worry about it! I just don't want my boyfriend to misunderstand, and he would be upset for sure." Feng Jiu replied cheerfully, and she thought to herself, "Oh gosh. If Di Jun knows about this, Wen Chang would be 'gone' immediately. And I also don't want him to feel upset about it as well!"

Then they started their day at school. They were required to attend literature, music, and sports classes today.

Wen Li and Xue Shan yawned and fell asleep during the literature class because it was boring for them. But Feng Jiu stayed focused and listened to what the teacher said. She was excited, and she didn't felt bored at all.

"What are they talking about?! School is not even that boring! I think it's fun."

Then her worst nightmare came. "So your homework for today is to copy from chapters 1 to 10. The deadline is by tomorrow." The teacher said sternly.

Everyone in the class protested, "That's too much homework! We just started our first day at school too."

The teacher then replied sternly, "No negotiations. If you don't want to fail and repeat this year, do what I say." Then he walked out of the class.

Feng Jiu then struggled with her thoughts, "How do I even finish this in one night?! I can't do it! I still have to cook, and I still have to do so many things. And I also have to "make it up" to Di Jun tonight."

Everyone whined after the teacher left. "See. This is why I told you I hate school, there's tons of homework, and this is considered normal."  Xue Shan said.

"Normal?! Did you call this normal? Back then, I ...." Feng Jiu stopped herself from talking. Back then, when she was still in school, she had to copy one chapter per week, and she was already struggling with it. Now that she had to do ten chapters in a night, it's literally impossible for her.

"Back then?" Xue Shan asked curiously.

"Oh, nothing. I mean, this is just for the literature class, right? I'm sure others wouldn't be as bad." Feng Jiu replied.

"Just wait and see." Xue Shan said, and Wen Li nodded his head to agree with her.

Then the music teacher came in, "Take out your textbook and turn to page 4." He said sternly.

Feng Jiu turned to page 4, and she realized that it consisted of music notes and lyrics on it. The teacher then pointed out to Feng Jiu and said, "You, there. Stand up and start singing now."

"Sing? But I don't know how to, shouldn't you be teaching us how to sing first?" Feng Jiu replied confusedly.

"Are you the teacher, or am I the teacher? Start singing now." He replied sternly.

Feng Jiu looked at her friends helplessly, and she tried her best to sing along, but she sang off-key a few times. The teacher kept making her sing over and over again until she got it right.

----------------------------------------

At the end of the lesson, Feng Jiu's throat was already dry, and she headed out to get some drinks. While walking to the vending machines, she angrily thought to herself, "Hmph! I thought school would be fun. Stupid teachers! Maybe the sports class wouldn't be that bad. At least I'm good at sports!"

Feng Jiu didn't notice someone standing in front of her as she had her head bowed, and she was looking down on the floor.

"How's my Xiao Bai doing?" Dong Hua asked. Feng Jiu immediately got excited upon seeing her husband. She looked around and made sure no one was around, and then she hugged onto him tightly.

She started to whine, "School is tough! I thought it would be more fun than this. But at least I get to see you now. I missed you so much, my husband!"

"Oh, my poor little fox. You're feeling bored, huh? It's okay. I'll make some fun for you now."

Dong Hua then dragged her into a nearby staff room and then locked the doors, so that others wouldn't see them. Then he started kissing her passionately.

"Wait, we are at school! What if others see us?!" Feng Jiu protested.

"There's nobody here. And I'll fire them if they dare to spread rumours about you."

"I guess you're right." She giggled and started to kiss Dong Hua back. Before he lost control, he backed off and said, "We will continue tonight." Then he smiled and kissed her forehead.

Feng Jiu then smiled back and replied, "Can't wait." Then she hugged Dong Hua tightly again.

"I want to go home, and it's so tiring at school." Feng Jiu said softly. Dong Hua actually felt a little happy to know that she hated school because he also didn't like the fact that she's in school. But he wanted to respect her wishes. He also wanted to give her some freedom to do what she enjoys, as long as she doesn't get hurt.

"It's okay, Xiao Bai. I'm sure you can survive your day at school. We will "have fun" tonight, and you'll forget all about it."

Then he hugged her waist and pulled her closer, and then giving her another kiss.

"I need to get back to work now. I'll see you after school. Behave, my Xiao Bai. I love you."

"Huh... So fast? I already miss you. I wish you could spend more time with me." Feng Jiu actually started to crave more alone time with Dong Hua. She took it for granted when she had Dong Hua all to herself, and now she's beginning to regret it a little.

"Go back to class, Xiao Bai. Don't worry. I'll miss you and think of you too." Dong Hua then unlocked the doors and nudged her to head back to class. Feng Jiu kept turning around and looked at Dong Hua with her pouty face.

----------------------------------------

It was time for them to attend sports classes. Feng Jiu excitedly said to her friends, "I'm good at sports, so this would be fun!"

Xue Shan then smirked and replied, "Fun? It's tiring." Wen Li also replied, "Yeah, I hated sports class too. Our teacher is a beast, literally. He's the offspring of the wolf clan.

"I'm sure you guys are just blowing it out of proportion. How hard can sports be?" Feng Jiu smiled.

Xue Shan and Wen Li then shook their head and gave her a look of pity.

Feng Jiu immediately ate back her words when their sports teacher told them to 'warm-up' by running five laps around the stadium.

"5 laps?! And it's just warm-up?!" She thought to herself. Then the teacher yelled, "What are you all still waiting for?! Start running now!" Then he shape-shifted into a wolf and started chasing after them, pushing them to run.

Feng Jiu then started running. After three laps, she was already exhausted, and she thought to herself, "I must be getting old, I have no stamina to keep up with these kids. Come save me, Di Jun!"

Then she thought of a plan, "Maybe I can just shape-shift to my fox form? I'll be able to run without feeling so tired then!"

Then she stopped herself before changing into her fox form, "No, I can't do it. It would expose my identity. I'm the only red fox with nine tails!" Then she told herself to suck it up and continued running.

At the end of five laps, Feng Jiu 'collapsed' on the floor, and she started to whine to her friends, "I can't do this, I'm too old for this. I need to rest!"

Xue Shan then laughed and sat down beside her, "Old? You're almost the same age as us! But yeah, I told you it's tough."

The teacher shape-shifted back to his human form and started yelling again. "Get up and stop being so lazy! Now let's start with some push-ups, and then we will do frog jumps around the stadium."

Feng Jiu then hesitated for a while, and then she finally got up. "Hmph! I hate sports class! It's even more tiring than Di Jun's daily night lessons."

"Move, you lazy bones!" The teacher screamed at Feng Jiu. "Your form is wrong! Get down, even more, straighten your legs!" He continually yelled at her and made her do extra push-ups until she got it right. Then they started to do frog jumps, and Feng Jiu felt like she could pass out anytime.

Finally, the bell rang, and the sports class was over. Feng Jiu immediately sprawled out on the floor, drenched in a pool of sweat.

"Tomorrow, there will be swimming classes. Don't be late. If not, you'll be punished by swimming extra laps!" The teacher said sternly before leaving.

"Another sports lesson?! I can't do this!" Feng Jiu whined. Xue Shan and Wen Li helped her up and consoled her, "You'll eventually get used to it."

Now it was finally time to head home. Feng Jiu dragged herself to the car park, where Dong Hua was waiting for her. Her muscles were aching, and she was drained of all her energy.

"What's wrong, my little fox? You look so exhausted. That's so unlike you." Feng Jiu immediately acted like she was fine and replied, "It's my first day at school, so I'm still not used to it. And I just really missed you a lot. But I feel better now that you're here with me! Let's quickly head home! I'm so hungry now."

Feng Jiu didn't want Dong Hua to know about her 'suffering' in school because he would definitely make her quit school. Then they got onto the car, and Dong Hua drove off. On the way back, Dong Hua also went to the drive-through to get his beloved fox some food because he noticed how tired she was, and he didn't want her to cook.

----------------------------------------

As soon as they got home, Feng Jiu ran towards the bed and laid down on it. Dong Hua then climbed over her and cheekily said, "So eager to learn your lesson tonight?" Feng Jiu then hooked her arms around his neck and replied, "It's nice that you're here with me now. I still miss those times where it's just the two of us."

Dong Hua smiled back and replied, "But I thought you said you felt empty, and you wanted to go to school." Feng Jiu then pouted and replied, "Yes. But I also wish to have more alone time with you in school! I only saw you once in school today."

Dong Hua replied sarcastically, "Absence makes the heart grow fonder, huh? Guess I'll need to be away more often, so my Xiao Bai will start missing me."

"No!" Feng Jiu then pulled him even closer and started kissing him. Dong Hua then flipped her over on top of him and whispered to her ears, "Xiao Bai, you want to know something?"

"What? Tell me." She said shyly.

"You reeked of sweat." He chuckled.

"Hmph! Let me go then!" She struggled to break free from his hug and stood up.

"Let's go shower together now." Dong Hua said calmly, and then he dragged her to the shower.

----------------------------------------

"Don't drop the soap!" Feng Jiu teased Dong Hua.

'Don't drop the soap' could be considered a crude, dirty joke. It refers to inmates in prison when showering. If one drops the soap, they have to pick it up, and it leaves them vulnerable to being taken advantage of.

Dong Hua then dropped the soap on purpose, and Feng Jiu started laughing out loud at him. "I just told you not to drop the soap, and you dropped it!"

Then he smiled and replied calmly, "Pick it up for me, Xiao Bai."

Her laughter immediately turned into a frown, "You're so bad, Di Jun! I know what you're thinking."

"Go on. Pick it up." He stared at her.

Feng Jiu then kicked the soap to the other side of the floor, and she quickly picked it up.

"Oh? I see someone is cheating, huh?"

"Cheating?! You told me to pick it up, and I did!" Feng Jiu protested.

Dong Hua then pinned her towards the wall and replied, "You really think you can escape from it?" Then he smiled and started kissing her on her lips and then onto her neck.

"Wait! Wait! Let's do it later. My legs are aching, and I don't want to do it here." Feng Jiu pushed him away.

"Oh? Is it this part that's aching?" He pointed to her calf, and she nodded her head while pouting. Then he said, "I'll massage your leg then." Then he stooped down to massage her legs.

After a while, he stopped massaging and kept quiet. Feng Jiu then said, "Huh? Why are you stopping?"

Dong Hua then smiled up at her, then he replied calmly, "Xiao Bai, I can't focus on massaging when I'm facing 'that' directly. It's like dangling meat in front of a lion."

Feng Jiu blushed and replied shyly, "Sorry!" Then she giggled to herself.

"Silly girl. Let's faster wash up and go have our dinner together." Then they quickly showered, got changed, and headed out towards the dining room.

"I can't wait to eat!" Feng Jiu exclaimed. Dong Hua mumbled under his breath, "Yeah. Can't wait to eat...." then he smiled to himself.

After they finished dinner, Feng Jiu then ran into the bedroom. Dong Hua thought to himself, "She can't wait already?" Then he walked into the room after her.

Then Feng Jiu took out her homework and started copying chapters. Dong Hua was confused, and he walked over to her, "What are you doing?" Then he gave her a hug from the back.

"Don't disrupt me now! I need to complete copying ten chapters by tonight!"

"That's your homework? It's so easy, just copying ten chapters. I can do 30 chapters easily in one night, and that is without using any powers."

"Oh, right! I could use my powers!" Then she tried to cast a spell, but it didn't work. The teacher also guessed that his students would cheat and do their homework using their powers. So he cast a spell on it to prevent them from doing so.

"Your teacher is smart." Dong Hua said sarcastically.

Feng Jiu then pouted and replied, "Go read your newspaper in the living room. I'm busy here!" Dong Hua then slowly walked out to the living room and started watching TV and reading his newspaper, like what he does every day.

Two hours passed, and it was 10 PM. Dong Hua thought to himself, "Xiao Bai should be done with her homework by now, right? It's been 2 hours."

Then he slowly walked back to the bedroom. He gently opened the door to prevent scaring her. Then he said, "Ready for your lesson?"

Then he noticed Feng Jiu was already fast asleep on the bed, all sprawled out with her blankets on the floor as always.

He shook his head lightly, "So much for doing homework, so much for 'making it up' to me tonight." He proceeded to flip her over to one side of the bed gently and covered her with the blanket. Then he kissed her forehead and whispered, "Good night, my little fox."

Then he looked at her unfinished homework, and then he used his powers to complete it for her. After that, he turned off the lights and went to bed as well.

"Poor Xiao Bai. Hopefully, her second day at school wouldn't be this tiring."
