"Thank you for all of your fucking help, Rue." I say sarcastically.

"No problem cuz'." She replies as she plops on my couch.

I shake my head in disbelief at her laziness and thank Gia for actually helping me. I just moved to East Highland from Compton.

I had to get up outta there or I would've ended up like my father. He put me on to the drug business and we ended up as partners. We had got caught in a drug bust but he ended up taking up all the blame. Now he's sitting in federal prison.

As for my mother, I can't even tell you if she's alive or not. While my father and I were selling, she was busy snorting it. She's kind of like Rue but way worse if that's even possible.

Then there's me. My father told me to get away from Compton cause it was no longer safe. I already knew that, though. Between the cops striking down on drug bust and the gang wars, I would of had two options if I stayed. Dead or in prison.

Now without both parents, I was on my own. Luckily, I'm already 18. Fortunately, at the time of my dad's arrest, we had hella money put up. I took it and bought a house down here in East Highland. It was a two story house with a garage. Four bedrooms with same number of bathrooms.

I just had finally finished moving everything in, with the help of Gia of course. Rue was completely useless.

Unfortunately, I still had to go to school. I was a senior though so it'd be my last year. I'd be going to the same high school as Rue and her friends. I knew her friends already. I used to come down here almost every summer. Which means I already had contacts in the drug business in this area.

My first day of school is today. I ain't want to go but I did want to graduate. It'd actually be a positive achievement besides selling drugs and being a gang banger.

I went in my closet to change into my outfit for the day.

I sprayed some cologne and put on some jewelry. Iced out Audemars, two Diamond Cuban link chains, diamond stud earrings, a few diamond rings, and my fully iced out grillz. I grab my backpack and head back downstairs.

"Rue get yo high ass up and let's go." I say.

"I'm not high." She responds.

For now she isn't. Despite me being a drug dealer, I could never and would never sell to Rue. I care about her and I don't like seeing her destroy herself. Now anybody else, I can give two fucks about.

Rue and Gia hop into my Mercedes Benz G-Wagon.

Gia is still in middle school so I dropped her off first. It's like a six minute drive between schools. I pulled up and seen many kids turn their heads at my truck. Rue and I hop out and enter the building. Most of these students knew me. I sold majority of them drugs before.

I already had my schedule and knew where my classes were. I had gotten a tour of the school over the weekend.

"Oh my God, Y/N it's so good to see you." Lexi says.

"Hey Lex." I reply hugging her.

"Hey Y/N." Kat greets.

"What's going on, Kat?" I respond.

"Oh nothing much." She answers.

"You still look as good as ever." I hear.

"Thanks Cassie. You don't look too bad yourself." I say.

"Who's this?" I ask pointing at someone I've never seen before.

"This is Jules. Jules this is my cousin Y/N." Rue says.

"It's nice to meet you." Jules says sticking her hand out

I shake her hand respectfully. "Vice versa."

I seen all heads turn in the hallway, including the girls. It was her. The one and only Maddy Perez. She was still with him. Nate fucking Jacobs. I hated him. We've never gotten along. He just gives me bad vibes.

"Wow, she's still alive." I whisper, not meaning to say it out loud. Except they all heard it.

"Y/N, what the fuck?" Rue says hitting my shoulder.

"What? I thought he would've choked her to death or something. We all know he has anger issues." I defend.

"No doubt about that." Kat agrees.

"Maddy is strong enough to handle herself when it comes to him." Cassie says defending her best friend.

"I never said she wasn't." I shrug.

"Hey bitches." Maddy says as she makes her way over here.

I always hated the attraction I had towards her. Mainly cause I knew that she was with Nate and she'd never leave him alone. Her sexy confidence and fierce attitude was something I liked. It turned me on. I had it bad for Maddy Perez.

"Holy fuck, hi Y/N." She says with a smile on her face.

"Hey Maddy." I reply, returning the hug she initiated.

She pulls away and her eyes trail up and down my body. I smile at her before Rue drags me away.

"Dude you cannot be looking at Maddy like that. Nate will fuck you up." She says.

I chuckle. "Do you really believe that? And it's not my fault that she's so damn fine."

"Still crushing on her like usual. Moving on, you going to the carnival tonight?" She asked.

"Carnival? Well of course. That sounds like a good business opportunity." I reply.

"Bet, you'll be my ride." She says walking off before I can object.

By lunch time, I had hella people hitting me up to buy. I don't walk around school with any of it on me so I told them to meet me at my truck after school.

It was indeed after school already. I finished up my last coke deal as Rue came over.

"So you sell to them but not me?" She asks in disbelief.

"We've been over this Ruby." I respond.

"Yeah, yeah. You don't like to see me killing myself." She mocks.

"Exactly." I agree.

My head turns as I see Maddy walk out the school. She was once again with Nate. She looked at me and smiled but covered it up as soon as he noticed. He glared at me, most likely trying to intimidate me. Unlike everyone else in this damn school he doesn't scare me and he never will.

Most people tend to be afraid since his daddy basically runs this town as some real estate guy. He probably owns their houses or whatever. I personally don't give a fuck. He doesn't own my house, I do.

I look away as Maddy hops into Nate's truck. I get into my own truck with Rue hopping into the passenger seat. The first place I go was to get Gia from school.

As I pulled up, I seen Gia talking to some boy. Well I guess it's time to be the embarrassing relative. "Georgia Bennett." I scream out the window.

Rue starts laughing her ass off as Gia face becomes red. She gets in the car obviously mad at me. "Y/N, why would you do that?"

"Cause it's funny." I answer laughing alongside Rue.

I drop them off at their house before going over to my own. I stash the money that I made today in my secret safe. I was hungry so I ordered myself food on DoorDash. In the meantime, I started getting ready for the Carnival.

Selling wise I'm expecting to score big. I scale and bag up hella coke and weed. After I was finished I got a text that my food was at the door. After getting my food I seen I had another text. It caught me off guard because it was from Cassie.

Cas- are you going to the carnival tonight?

Me- yeah, why?

Cas- just wanted to know if I was gonna see you

Me- well you will

Cas- cool☺️

That's suspicious and weird. The fuck does she want to see me so badly for? Pushing that thought to the back of my mind, I started to get dressed.

Tonight is about business.
