Dong Hua looked down at the little fox in his arms, he wasn't sure why he took her away, but somehow it felt right. 

He walked to Zhe Yan’s 10 miles of peach blossom trees and chose a tree to sit by and lean at carrying the little fox princess in his arms. He expected her to make much trouble and put effort in freeing herself but on the contrary she didn’t make any movement at all and seemed quite comfortable at her residence, she kept her eyes shut and her head settled on his arm, once a while touching his arm with the side of her face. "she fit in his arms just right", he thought to himself.
Feng Jiu finally opened her eyes and looked up at him, she bent her head from right to left and again left to right then offered another single yawp. 
"She is cute '', he confessed, especially when winking so repeatedly at him, and playful too judging by the way she was running away when he saw her. 
“so you can’t talk yet” Dong Hua stated. “a little fox like you, why is out of her home all alone?” he asked himself more than the little princess.
“Bai Zhe always said the children of the fox clan should grow up as freely as possible, but letting you be alone out of home is strange even for him.” 
Feng Jiu stared into his eyes with concern, like she was trying to understand his meanings, but it took only a few seconds before her serious face changed into a happy, excited and playful one. 
She suddenly tried to kick him with her little paws. Dong Hua looked at her with amusement, she was the first little kid he ever took in his arms but she was the first one who ever tried to kick him too. He kept her more secure and said “so maybe Bai Zhe let you out because you are capable of taking good care of yourself! but don’t worry princess, I will take you home later” and smiled at her face before patting her on head, but instead of walking back make himself more comfortable in his seat and settled Feng Jiu on his lap, he took both her front paws in one of his hands and caressed her chin with the other. To his surprise Feng Jiu freed her paws and shot one or two more kicks then put them under her chick leaning on his chest. 
She made herself comfortable then looked up to stare in his eyes, like challenging him to stare back, well as all know Dong Hua never lose a challenge so he stared back. They stayed like that for a while, none made any rejection or movement to break eye contact until he heard some voice calling for Feng Jiu.
“kitty where are you?” shouted a female voice and make Dong Hua to break the eye contact and look toward the way that voice came from “fourth brother how can she scape from my barrier by her own, she even doesn’t have a human form yet, she is way too young to be capable of leaving on her own, I’m afraid, what if someone kidnapped her, what should we do?” 
Dong Hua heard and stared back at the little princess, did she really escape from a barrier? He thought they left the little fox on her own but the voice he just heard was for Bai Qian, the only daughter of Bai Zhe and his youngest child, she was young but still she was a high immortal, if she said the little princess escape a barrier so it should be like that, but how this little fox with those big innocent eyes can break her barrier?
“little fox you are full of surprises” he smiled at her “but let us take you to your aunt for now, everything will be out at its right time” Feng Jiu only gave one of her little fox voices which he found so adorable, he smiled by his eyes and stands up walking toward the way that voices came from.
Bai Qian was shouting with all her heart! She never could stand that anything bad happened to Feng Jiu worse on her watch. This little fox was so troublesome, she always found a way to make them miserable, her second brother left the kid with them to live by his beloved wife, little kid was the only grandchild of the clan so of course they were happy of having her by their side, they all dotted her but she was so mischief.
“Qian Qian, you were worse” Bai Zhen said, like he could guess the line of thought in her mind.
“I was not” she answered.
“you forgot that father sent you to Kunlun so we can have some peace” he teased her. "but I should confess you couldn't escape the barrier instead you make so much noises to make us go crazy and let you free"
“second brother” by now she was walking in front of him and shouted in a childish way and was about to jump at him when Bai Zhen bowed at someone who she couldn't see and called: "Dong Hua Dijun". she turned around and saw the ancient god himself, with Feng Jiu in his arms: “Dijun” she bowed full of surprise.
Dong Hua gave a court nod to both but before he could say anything or they got the chance to ask anything, Feng Jiu made a scared and excited voice and in their surprise Dong Hua soothed her on the back of her ear and kept her closer to his chest.
“I believe this is your niece” Dong Hua said after a moment of awkward silence.
“yes Dijun” Bai Zhen said and took a step forward to take Feng Jiu but Dong Hua made no sign of giving her up and made him stay where he was.
“I thought you two were responsible for taking care of her” Dong Hua never asked questions, he never talked too much either, but he chose his words in a way to make his point clear. Bai Qian didn’t like the sound of his words: Dijun doesn't need to make trouble for himself.
Dong Hua only looked at her, she got the nerve of her father, he was staring at her when sensed some tagging on his head he looked down and saw Feng Jiu’s grip on his hairs. seconds before she was afraid of her aunt and was seeking protection from him and now she was angry at him and trying to protect her aunt, was she really as young as they knew? he stared at her with a sparkle in his eyes.
Bai Zhen kept his breath, the women in his family will be the end of him, his sister said such a thing to Dijun and his niece pull his hairs, heaven save them all, but in his shock he saw Dijun gave a half smile and said to Feng Jiu: little fox you keep surprising me, are you unhappy because you scare for your aunt? So you have to grow up soon and help her to be a more reasonable goddess.
Feng Jiu looked at him and felt no anger, she  withdrew her grab and instead gave a smile with all her little face, showing off her little foxy teeth. He watched her with pleasure for a second then offered the little fox to her uncle: I saw her out of your home, she seems special, take good care of her.
Bai Zhen took Feng Jiu and bowed, Feng Jiu’s head turned to keep looking at Dong Hua, her eyes fixed on his. Dong Hua looked back at her and after a moment of hesitation he raised his hand and caressed her furs, a line of silver energy coming from his finger and made a purple bobble around Feng Jiu. He heard two older foxes' shocked sighs but kept his hand on its place without any reaction.
Back then he thought Bai Yi is the subject of his vow and gave him his protection because of the safety of realms but now he was sure that this little fox is the main reason, he decided to take care of her, not for the realms, no, he felt a necessity to protect her for himself, he was captured by her. 
Feng Jiu brought up one of her tails and took his wrist by it and tried to reach his face by the other one but he was too tall and her tails couldn’t reach him, she keep trying and turning in her uncle arms to reach his face, bringing up her little head, stretching her tails, she seem so enchanting with her movement that make Dong Hua to show a little smile and bend his head a little to gave what she wished for. Feng Jiu made her excited voices again and caressed his face with her tail, still holding his hand with her other tail. Dong Hua felt some warm feelings on her touch spot and in his heart, he gave her a moment and enjoyed the feeling before tapping her on her little nose with the finger of his other hand: little fox we will meet again.
Bai Zhen and Bai Qian both stared in shock but Dijun was already gone.

For the next days Bai Qian and Bai Zhen found Feng Jiu staring outside of the cave more the time of day and seems waiting for someone, the little kid tried her best to run away from them but after the last time Bai Qian make a much more powerful barrier around the entire cave denying the access she looked for. She tried and tried, waited and listened with all her heart but the person she was waiting for didn't show up. After a long time she knew she had to make herself free from the barrier which kept her trapped inside but forgot the reason, as a result she kept trying and succeeded in the third year after the visit of Dong Hua. 

After that the trouble of Bai Qian and Bai Zhen grow up, their niece was full of surprises, they used to increase the security of the cave and Feng Jiu used to found her way out of it, she yet hadn't a human shape that they gave up and instead of increasing the power of their barrier decided to teach her to be careful of her safety. They teached her how to call for their help if she got in trouble, the next thing was ensuring her coming back home, so they tried to teach her how to navigate her way back but soon enough they gave up! The little fox took after her aunt in that scope and had no talent in it, instead they gave her an enchantment to bring her back in case she lost her way. And at the end she was just a little girl who just took her human form when they teached her how to use magic to protect herself, so Bai Feng Jiu the little princess of Qing Que was known as a beatiful, playful and capable little girl in realms, most of the time looking around herself even when she was with her playmates waiting for someone without remembering who she is waiting for.

Far away from Qing Que, Dong Hua couldn’t forget the fox princess and their few sharing moments. He often found himself thinking about her and wishing to feel her in his arms again, her soft and shining fur felt warm and cozy, he had to keep himself from going to her almost every day, but if he shows great interest in the little fox she will be in much trouble. He saw her just once but he could say she is a free spirit and wishes to be as she wants and if he shows interest in her she will lose her freedom, so many will target her and so many will envy her. He decided to not interfere in her daily life and secure her wish, but he didn’t bother himself by trying to forget her or make excuses for his behavior, he was convinced that he was waiting for her even before he saw her and after that he confessed that she worth the wait and even more so he decided to keep himself away from her to grow up a little before meeting again.
