Chapter 43

This is it! The night has arrived! The moment they've been waiting for! The night of Mavis Dracula and Johnny Loughran's wedding has begun!

The lobby had been decorated in mostly white with a soft pink lighting, a large sparkling spider web reading Congratulations, Mavis and Johnathan on the ceiling, a white carpet went from the door to the reception deck and two zombie bellhops finished laying it out proudly. But then it got covered in slime from Blobby, a muddy footprint from Bigfoot, and further ruined by werewolf pups, Mr. Hydraburg, and other monsters walking rapidly over it.

"Ohh!" the zombies moaned in disappointment.

"Welcome! Welcome!" Dracula greeted with a smile to a yeti and a gremlin as he shook their hands.

"Congrats Drac! Holy smokes! Everybody's here!" The yeti exclaimed as he saw Frank and Eunice walked by. "That Johnny is a nice kid."

"Hey, she loves him," Dracula said with a happy tone and smile.

"Yeah! Look at it this way, Drac; you're not losing a daughter, you're gaining..." The gremlin was cut off when Dracula towered over him and the yeti with a deep, demonic voice, and red eyes as he yelled.

"YOU BETTER BELIEVE I'M NOT LOSING MY DAUGHTER! SHE'S NOT GOING ANYWHERE!" Dracula yelled at the trembling yeti and gremlin as the vampire gave a roar at the end. Dracula's anger vanished and smiled at the two still frozen and wide eyed with fear like nothing happened.

"Anyways, you guys should try the deviled eggs. We have Quasimodo made it special for all the guests." Dracula said in a friendly way as a gargoyle chef came floating in with a plate of deviled eggs smiling.

"Of course! Whatever you want, Drac!" The yeti and gremlin replied nervously as they grabbed some deviled eggs with their hands shaking out of fear.

Meanwhile, a family of three humans walked through the revolving door, all wearing formal clothes for the upcoming wedding.

"Brett, Kent, and Melly Loughran! The family of the groom has arrived!" an armored knight announced their presence loudly.

Every monster in the lobby froze in place and stared at the new humans. Both the Loughrans and the monsters guests stared uncomfortably at each other but the Loughrans smiled warmly when Johnny and Alfred came and greeted their family with warm hugs.

"Guys! I can't believe you're all here!" Johnny shouted happily as his siblings greeted them with hugs and smiles.

"Johnny! Congratulations, bro!" The Loughrans greeted excitedly as Johnny and Alfred embraced them.

"Brett, Kent, and Melly! I'm glad you could all make it!" Dracula exclaimed as he greeted the new guests but only this time he didn't roar at them.

"Of course, Drac. We wouldn't want to miss my little brother's wedding." Brett said as he swung his arm around Johnny, locking him in a playful headlock and ruffling his hair.

"Urk! Come on, dude. You're... messing up... my hair!" Johnny choked, struggling to free himself of his eldest brother's grasp while everyone laughed at their bonding.

"Alright, that's enough you two." Alfred said laughing a little while Brett released his hold on Johnny and catching his breath.

"Please, make yourselves comfortable. The wedding will begin in a few hours." Dracula suggested in a friendly manner.

"We're so happy for you, Johnny! After the wedding, you and Mavis are going to be the new Mr. and Mrs. Loughran!" Kent said proudly.

"I wish mom and dad would've been here with us right now." Melly replied softly while everyone's smile slowly faded in sadness.

"Me too, sis." Johnny approached his little sister and gave her a comforting hug.

"We better get going to our respective places before the wedding starts. We'll give Johnny some time to prepare himself." Alfred said.

"I'll see you guys later." Johnny whispered to his family as they went outside the hotel where the ceremony will take place.

Johnny couldn't help it but to have mix feelings right now. He was filled with joy knowing that he'll be marrying Mavis for a few hours and spend their lives together as husband and wife and at the same time a part of him felt downhearted that his parents wouldn't see their youngest son on his big night. Johnny then felt a gently touch on his shoulder.

"I know what you're going through, Johnny. I also wished Martha was here with me to see our little Mavy getting married to the most kind hearted human that I've ever met." Dracula said with a warm smile at the young red head human. Johnny smiled back at Dracula that he was worthy for Mavis.

While this was happening, Dracula and Johnny spotted a familiar friend entered the lobby.

"Marvin! You came!" Dracula greeted his old friend.

"Hello, Drac. It's good to see you again." Marvin greeted in a friendly way as he shook hands with Dracula and turns to Johnny. "Congratulations, young man. I wish you and Mavis nothing but pure happiness together."

"Thank you, sir. It really means a lot for me and Mavis that you came." Johnny smiled at the vampire guest.

"Of course, Mr. Loughran. I wouldn't miss it for the world." Marvin said while gently patting Johnny's shoulder.

"I better check on the rest of the guests. You better get ready, Johnathan." Dracula said sternly with a serious look on his face while Johnny did a thumbs up.

As Dracula walked away, he couldn't help but think at what the gremlin said to him earlier. Mavis was growing up and getting married to start her own family. A look of sadness formed onto his face. To Dracula, she was still his little princess. He made his way to the elevator to go see how his lovely Mavy-Wavy was doing.

Inside her bedroom, Mavis was busy getting ready for her wedding. Wendy, Sophie, Charlotte, Wanda and Eunice were also inside the room to help the young vampiress to get ready when they heard a heavy knock at the door.

"Come in!" Mavis called to the door.

The door opened slowly and the pouty face of Dracula came in peaking around the door. It looked like he had been crying.

"Hi, Uncle Drac!" Wendy, Sophie, and Charlotte said waving their hands at the older vampire.

"Hello Drac. What brings you here? Not trying to change Mavis' mind, are you?" Eunice asked with a raised eyebrow.

"Eunice, you know Drac wouldn't ruin Mavis' big day," Wanda said.

"What? No. I would never do that, I just wanted to come see my Mavy-Wavy before her big night." Dracula said as he held his hands up.

"Hi, dad. Are you alright?" Mavis asked in concern especially looking at his eyes like they were tearing up.

"Of course I am Mavy. How about you?" Dracula took Mavis' hands into his as he smiled and looked gently into her eyes.

"I'm so excited but a little nervous. I can't wait for the wedding to start. I want to see Johnny's face when I walk down the aisle," Mavis smiled exposing her fangs.

Dracula couldn't help it but to stare at Mavis wearing her black wedding dress. To him, she looked just like her mother, Martha. So beautiful and glowing with excitement.

"You look wonderful my, honey-bat. You look so much like your mother. Johnny and the others are going to love your dress. It is perfect for you." Dracula said putting his hand gently on her cheek.

"Thanks, dad." Mavis smiled until she noticed Dracula's eyes were slowly releasing tears. "Are you sure you're okay, dad?" Mavis asked again while Dracula sighed and tell her the truth.

"Mavis, I am so happy for you. You are so grown up and still full of so much life. I just hate to see you go. To me, you are still my little baby girl and you will always be. I don't know what I would do without you, Mavy. Deep down inside me, it feels like I am losing you." Dracula said as tears started to flow from his eyes. He turned into a bat and stared up at his daughter with big sad round red eyes.

"Daddy, don't give me the pouty bat face," Mavis scolded gently as Dracula turned back into his human form but still crying. As he turned back to his human form, Mavis hugged Dracula to comfort him. "Oh, dad. It's okay to feel that way but you will never lose me. This is my home. I love it here and so does Johnny. And no matter how old I am, Daddy, I will always be your little baby." Mavis finished as she deeply hugged Dracula.

Wendy, Sophie, Charlotte, Wanda, and Eunice smiled and teared up watching the sweet and wonderful moment between the father and daughter.

"Really? You mean it?" An ecstatic smile spread across Dracula's lips after hearing the answer.

"Yes, Daddy." Mavis nodded while smiling at her father.

"Hooray! She's staying!" Dracula exclaimed in happiness and victory as he pumped a fist in the air which made Mavis giggled at her father.

"Uh, Uncle Drac. Sorry to interrupt but we still have to do Mavis' makeup." Wendy said.

"Oh, yes. Of course." Dracula said immediately stop celebrating for his sudden victory. "There are some last minute things that need attending to." Before Dracula could leave the room, he kissed his daughter on the forehead. "I'll see you downstairs, my sweet blood orange. Love you, Mavy-Wavy."

"I love you too, Dad," Mavis replied as she hugged Dracula for one last time.

Drac left the room, leaving Wendy, Sophie, Charlotte, Wanda, and Eunice to help Mavis get ready before the big ceremony starts.
