Chapter 29

After the catastrophic event between the Joker and the hotel, everything was getting back to normal. Speaking of normal, Johnny's right arm was now fully healed and every monster he encountered in the hotel would just smile at him and thanked him for saving their lives.

Everyone started to plan for Mavis and Johnny's wedding in the near future now that Vampire Council finally agrees that the monster world was now open to the humans. Brett, Kent, and Melly went back to California. Their next visit to the hotel was now on Mavis and Johnny's wedding.

It was now the day before Christmas, or Creepmas for monsters. Snow kept falling form the sky blocking the sunlight and the cold was to strong that everyone needed to wear a much thicker coat.

Dracula, Mavis and Johnny decided to visit the human village this Christmas/Creepmas Eve (mostly Johnny's decision). They all wore thick coats, earmuffs, thick boots, and glove mittens to handle the cold.

"I got to admit, it's really nice to visit the village in Christmas Eve." Johnny said.

"You mean Creepmas." Dracula corrected.

"What's Creepmas?" Johnny asked.

"Johnny, Creepmas is the time of the year where Krampus comes when you're only asleep. He pulls out his cannon to fire the presents underneath the bone tree." Mavis explained.

"Oh so basically Creepmas is just like Christmas with a few changes. In Christmas we've got Santa Claus with his trusty elves leaving presents underneath the Christmas tree for everyone." Johnny explained.

"Johnny, I'm not sure we should be here right now. We monsters don't celebrate that kind of tradition." Dracula nervously said.

"Come on guys. Just because you're monsters, doesn't mean you don't have to celebrate the human holidays. There's nothing wrong celebrating Christmas and Creepmas at the same time. Let's just walk around town to know what Christmas is all about and we can go back to the hotel and celebrate Creepmas." Johnny said reassuring the father and daughter.

Dracula and Mavis were still unsure about Christmas but Johnny insisted them on exploring the village to enjoy Christmas Eve.

The human village was now different than before. The streets were covered in snow, buildings were filled in colorful Christmas decorations and snowflakes. As they walked throughout the village, the humans were surprised to see the vampires and warmly greeted them Merry Christmas. Dracula was still confused and uncomfortable about Christmas but somehow Mavis felt a little more comfortable form people greeting them kindly.

Johnny was able to look through a window and spotted a lovely married couple with their children eating their Christmas turkey as a happy family. This made Johnny sad and shed small tears. Dracula and Mavis noticed this and went to Johnny for some comfort.

"When me and my siblings were kids, we usually enjoyed Christmas with our parents every year back at home. We eat a delicious Christmas turkey the night before Christmas and we wake up first thing in the morning to open our presents underneath the Christmas tree. But ever since... that night, it's never been the same." Johnny's voice was slowly breaking and wiping some tears from his eyes.

"Oh honey, I'm sorry to hear that." Mavis comfortably hugged Johnny and gently patting his back. "You know what, we'll give Christmas a shot."

"Really?" Dracula asked annoyingly but Mavis just glared at her father. Mavis wanted to experience Christmas for Johnny. "Fine, we'll celebrate Christmas here in the village." Dracula said in defeat.

"Alright!" Johnny said smiling at both Dracula and Mavis. This made him feel a little better now.

Dracula, Mavis, and Johnny continued to explore the village. They went to a park and witnessed the humans ice skating at the frozen lake. Johnny rented ice skating shoes for Dracula, Mavis, and himself but Dracula were having doubts.

"Come on, Drac. You'll love it." Johnny pleaded as he tried to give him a pair of ice skating shoes.

"Yeah, dad. It kinda looks like fun." Mavis also pleaded her dad.

"I don't know, Mavy. I don't think it's safe for you." Dracula said worried for his little girl's safety.

"Dad, there's nothing to be worried about. Even the kids here enjoying it." Mavis said as she showed Dracula a couple of kids ice skating.

"I'd rather stay here. You kids can go if you want." Dracula said.

With that said, Mavis and Johnny quickly wore their ice skating shoes and headed towards to the frozen lake while Dracula stayed behind. It only took Mavis a couple of seconds to get the hang of ice skating. Both Mavis and Johnny held hands while skating around the frozen lake at the same time trying to avoid incoming people. Dracula just smiled at the young couple having fun together and sharing a few laughs.

After ice skating, the trio went inside at a local cafe to get themselves warm. Dracula and Mavis sat on a table together while waiting for Johnny, who was in front the counter. Johnny returns at the table holding three cups of hot cocoa and a plate of cookies.

"Alright, order up." Johnny teasingly said as he puts the hot cocoas on the table.

"Johnny, what are these weird round things on top of the drinks." Dracula asked examining his hot cocoa.

"Those are marshmallows, Drac. Try it their really good!" Johnny said as he slowly sips his hot cocoa.

"So soft and yummy!" Mavis exclaimed as she chews the marshmallow in her mouth. "Dad, you gotta try this! It's so delicious!"

"Alright, honeybat." Dracula held his cup and took a quick sip and eating a marshmallow. To his surprise, it wasn't that bad as he thought.

"I told you it's good." Johnny said as he grabbed a cookie and sips it on his hot cocoa before eating it. Dracula and Mavis also ate some cookies and finished drinking their hot cocoa.

Dracula, Mavis, and Johnny went outside at the local cafe and explored the village some more. They happen to stumble on a giant Christmas tree with a star on top in front at the middle of town with a crowd of people surrounding it.

"I don't think they got the Bone tree right." Dracula said while looking up at the Christmas tree.

"Drac, it's a Christmas tree. It's the main decoration to celebrate Christmas." Johnny explained. Just then, a group of children carolers came up front for their entertainment.

"Holy Rabies! Look at these cute kids!" Mavis squealed while watching the adorable children caroling.

Dashing through the snow
In a one-horse open sleigh
O'er the fields we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on bobtails ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to ride and sing
A sleighing song tonight

Jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

Hey, jingle bells, jingle bells
Jingle all the way
Oh, what fun it is to ride
In a one horse open sleigh

The children were about to continue singing their song but they were suddenly stopped when one of the them changed the lyrics of the song.

Every single night
Batman's out there fighting crime
Punching bad guys in the face
And all that on his dime
Even if it's Christmas
Bad guys never quit
And Batman's getting fed up
of all their mischief plans

Jingle Bells, Batman smells
The Joker got away...

"Wrong lyrics!" The children exclaimed in annoyance at their friend.

The audience kept frozen in surprise from what they witnessed. The children decided to sing another Christmas song to entertain the audience.

We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year
Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year

Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
Oh, bring us some figgy pudding
And bring it right here

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year

We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
We won't go until we get some
So bring it right here

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year

We all like our figgy pudding
We all like our figgy pudding
We all like our figgy pudding
With all its good cheers

Good tidings we bring to you and your kin
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year

We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas
We wish you a merry Christmas and a happy new year

Everyone applauded for the children's performance. Just then the Christmas tree lights up and the star on top was the brightest one.

"Ooooh!" Everyone said as they were mesmerized at how bright and beautiful the Christmas tree was. Johnny puts his arm on Mavis' shoulder pulling her closer.

"Merry Christmas, Mavis." Johnny said as he kissed Mavis on the forehead.

"Scary Creepmas to you too, Johnny-stein." Mavis said hugging Johnny back. She then turns to Dracula. "Scary Creepmas, Daddy." Mavis said while hugging her father.

"Scary Creepmas to you too, my cute little tarantula." Dracula said while hugging Mavis back.

A couple of hours later...
The hearse returned to the hotel. Dracula, Mavis, and Johnny exited the vehicle as they saw Hank, Pedro, Wendy, Sophie, and Charlotte outside the hotel playing with snow. Dracula entered back inside the hotel only leaving Mavis and Johnny behind.

"Mavis! Johnny! You're back!" Wendy exclaimed.

"How was visiting the human village?" Sophie asked.

"It was fun! We get to ice skating, we drank hot cocoa with marshmallow, we watched some kids caroling and lightning up the Christmas Tree." Mavis said in excitement.

"Wait? Christmas?" Pedro asked curiously and nervous at the same time after hearing that word.

"Guys, there's nothing to be afraid about Christmas. Both Christmas and Creepmas are the times you get to spend time with the family." Johnny explained.

"I don't know about it, Johnny. This kinda reminds me back at the Cartwrights." Hank said.

"The Cartwrights?" Johnny asked confusingly.

"They're the humans who lived near the hotel before you arrived." Mavis explained.

"Oh, cool! I didn't know humans lived near the hotel." Johnny exclaimed.

All of a sudden, a snow hits Johnny directly at his face. Everyone was surprised to witnessed the fast event. They turned around only looking at Sophie and Charlotte holding snowballs.

"SNOWBALL FIGHT!" Both Sophie and Charlotte announced at the same time and started throwing snowballs at the their friends.

Everyone quickly hid behind nearby structures and releasing a few giggles and laughs for fun. Everyone was divided into two groups. The first group were Mavis, Wendy, Sophie, and Charlotte while the second group were Johnny, Hank, and Pedro. It was a boys vs girls game and started to throw snowballs at each other. Mavis and her team was the group that was close to winning as they kept making more snowballs and throwing it quickly at the boys. They all shared some good laughs after the game was over and headed back inside the hotel.

Some time later, Johnny was back inside his room with Alfred accompanying him.

"What are you doing?" Alfred asked.

"I'm going out for night patrol." Johnny said. He was already wearing his usual Batsuit except for the cowl.

"Right now!? Could you at least just stay here for a couple of minutes?" Alfred pleaded wanting to spend more time with his family.

"Al, don't worry about it. I won't be long. I'll be back here before they even realize that I'm gone." Johnny explained trying to make Alfred's worries go away. "If you want to call it a night, I can handle things on my own."

"No that won't be necessary, my boy. I'll rest when you do. Although may I suggest that you should wear your Extreme Environment Suit that you've been working on. Especially on the weather like this." Alfred suggesting to upgrade the Batsuit.

"You mean the XE Suit? It's not ready for deployment yet. I also need to attach the Thermal Golves to the suit. I'll work on that later, Al. Do you need anything else?" Johnny asked.

"Only for you to be safe, Johnathan." Alfred said while Johnny just smiled at him.

Johnny puts on his cowl and actives his voice modulator/changer. He was now fully Batman.

"See later on Creepmas, Al." Batman/Johnny said.

"I'm sorry, Johnny. What do you mean by Creepmas?" Alfred asked curiously while Batman/Johnny just smirked at him.

"I'll explain later." Batman/Johnny just smirked back at Alfred as he glides out from the window on his way to the human village.

Meanwhile back at the Human Village....
A wealthy CEO was working on some paperworks in his office until he heard something drop out loud outside his office.

"Hello? Is anybody in there?" The man asked.

Just then, the door was kicked open and armed goons surrounded the CEO.

"There he is!" The thug exclaimed while pointing at the man.

"We got him!" Another thug said while aiming his gun directly at the man's head.

"Who are you people!? I demand to know!" The man shouted angrily.

"Shut up man!" Another thug used the end of his gun to hit the man on the face.

The man groaned in pain until someone entered the room joining them. This was different from the thugs. This mysterious intruder was wearing a cryogenic suit while a giant glass bowl on his head and holding a gigantic freeze gun. His skin was blue and wearing goggles.

"Ferris Boyle. We meet again." The intruder said sinisterly.

"Who are you?" Boyle asked frightened at the intruder.

The intruder just glared at Boyle and aimed his freeze gun at him. "My name does not matter anymore thanks to you. You will only come to know me as, MR. FREEZE!"
