Chapter 28

Dracula and Mavis quickly carried Johnny to the emergency room with their families behind them.

"Dr. Gillman! We need you!" Mavis said. Dr. Gillman arrived and was shocked to see Johnny bleeding.

"Oh dear! What happened to him?!" Dr. Gillman exclaimed in horror.

"He was shot by one of the intruders with a silver bullet! Can you fix him?!" Dracula asked in a hurry.

"I could but this is going to be a little difficult. It is silver bullet after all." Dr. Gillman said.

"I'll help you remove the bullet. Johnny is and always will be my responsibility." Alfred stepped in willing to help Johnny.

"Al, are you sure?" Melly asked worriedly.

"Absolutely. I've done my medical training before so I can handle this." Alfred explained.

"Guys we don't have much time!" Kent shouted in a hurry.

Without waisting any time, Dracula and Mavis entered the emergency room putting Johnny gently on the bed to proceed the surgery. Everyone waited outside at the waiting room while both Dr. Gillman and Alfred performed the surgery on Johnny. Alfred was the one who removed the bullet from Johnny's shoulder and it was Dr. Gillman who stitched up his wound.

After the surgery was finished, Alfred wrapped a medical tape around Johnny's shoulder and Dr. Gillman attached an arm sling on his right arm for support.

"That's it! All done!" Dr. Gillman exclaimed.

"How are you feeling, Johnathan?" Alfred asked.

"It still hurts a little but I'll be alright. Thank you."
Johnny said, still laying on the bed.

"I'll inform the others that you're alright." Dr. Gillman said as exited the room only leaving Johnny and Alfred some time to be alone.

"The Joker may have killed a lot of people... but this?! This is personal! Showing up here in this peaceful hotel only to attempt on killing our friends and families." Alfred angrily retorted.

"I swear, Al. If I ever get my hands on that psychopath again, I'll make he'll never get to see the outside of a cell ever again!" Johnny could only feel pure rage towards the Joker, mostly after what he almost did to Mavis.

"I guess we now know how he's going release his Joker Venom." Alfred added.

"He wanted to show us what he had planned for us, Al. We gotta stay vigilant before strikes again. My guess is that he'll be making more of those bombs." Johnny stated.

"Yes but for now, it's time for you to get some rest, my boy. Batman may not able stop the Joker this time but Johnny Loughran saved Hotel Transylvania tonight." Alfred told to Johnny.

Both of them were able to calm down after Dr. Gillman returned with Dracula, Mavis, and everyone else.

"JOHNNY! YOU'RE OKAY!" Mavis ran towards to Johnny hugging him tightly. She shedded more tears of joy from her eyes while Brett, Kent, and Melly joined the hug. They were all grateful that Johnny was alright.

"How is he Dr. Gillman?" Dracula asked.

"Well Johnny was in deep pain earlier but luckily you brought him here just in time. We were able to remove the bullet off his shoulder and stitched up his wound. For the time being, he's going to wear that arm sling until he gets better." Dr. Gillman explained.

"So that means good, right?" Kent asked worriedly.

"Of course! He'll be better in no time but I suggest that he should stay here to get some rest until he fully recovered. Especially those bruises on his face." Dr. Gillman said as he pointed at Johnny's face. Johnny had a few visible bruises on his face and a black eye.

"Don't worry about it, Doc. I got my medicine right here with me right here." Johnny chuckled as he used his left hand to hold Mavis. Being with Mavis always cheered Johnny up.

"Aww." Mavis loved hearing that as she hugged Johnny one more time. She didn't like seeing Johnny this injured of course.

"Johnathan." Dracula slowly said as she stepped forward to the young couple. "I wanted to say thank you."

"For what, bud?" Johnny asked curiously.

"You fought those men with every strength you have to save every monster in this hotel, including my Mavy-wavy." Dracula smiled as he gently stoke some of Mavis' hair.

"Drac, I'll do anything for Mavis. I never wanted to put her in the position where she has to protect me all the time. I should be the one protecting her." Johnny sternly said.

"But Johnny... you were almost killed back there. I don't want to lose you." Mavis sadly said even though Johnny was still human.

"I can handle the pain, Mavy. What's important to me is your safety. I don't want seeing you getting hurt." Johnny replied by kissing Mavis on the forehead and cuddled with her a little. Everyone in the room were awed for the strong pure love that Johnny and Mavis for each other.

"Oh no! The Vampire Council!" Frank yelled in panic.

"What about it?" Murray asked confusingly.

"Holy Rabies! They haven't made the decision yet!" Dracula gasped in horror.

"Actually they already have." Marvin suddenly entered the room listening to the whole conversation.

"What do you mean?" Wayne asked.

"Before those humans broke into the hotel, the Council already made their decision about Mavis and Johnny. It was a fifty-fifty vote." Everyone, mostly Mavis and Johnny, in the room clearly heard what Marvin said and a combination hope and fear of what the Vampire Council decided. Before could say anything else, Marvin continued to talk. "But after seeing Johnny fighting those men to protect our kind, willing to sacrifice his own life just to save Mavis out of pure love, a part of them thought that maybe the humans did change over the years, except for those men earlier of course."

"What are you saying?" Eunice asked.

"I'm saying that the Vampire Council quickly reconsidered their votes. They already agreed to their final decision." Marvin explained as Mavis and Johnny were getting nervous in every second. All they did was to held their hands waiting for what's coming next.

"So what's the result?" Wanda asked nervously.

"They all decided that... they should let Mavis and Johnny be together." Marvin announced.

For a minute, everyone just went speechless and dropped their jaws while widening their eyes in surprise but later on they cheered out loud in victory. Johnny yelled out while Mavis shed more tears of joy. The young couple one deep passionate kiss knowing that they'll get married and spending their lives together forever.

The Council also stated that Hotel Transylvania can now be opened to human guests if the Count Dracula allows this to be happen. Dracula agrees to this but he'll also be increasing security throughout the hotel to make sure that this night's tragedy will never happen again. For the first time, monsters and humans can now be reunited peacefully. Marvin then approached to Mavis and Johnny.

"The Council also wanted to thank you. Because of your bravery, you saved the monsters here tonight. It's time for you to get some rest with your loved ones." Marvin said as he gently put his hand on Johnny's left shoulder.

"Yeah, man. You really had us worried back there." Pedro exclaimed.

"How did you do all that, Johnny?" Wendy asked excitedly.

"I did a little karate when I was a kid back in Santa Cruz. I guess I still kinda remember some moves." Johnny explained lying a little because it was more than karate to learn martial arts.

"Sweet! Can you teach us some of your moves?" Hank asked as wanted to learn those fighting skills.

"Yeah! Is it okay!?" Both Sophie and Charlotte also joined in.

Hank, Pedro, Wendy, Sophie, and Charlotte were now crowding Johnny and kept asking if he could teach some of his fighting skills at the same time like he was being interrogated. Johnny just nervously smiled at them unsure what to answer. Mavis just laughed seeing how her friends and Johnny interact to one another.

"Alright, guys. I think Johnny had enough for one night. Just let him have his rest." Mavis was still laughing a little and gently pushed her friends away form Johnny sighing in relief while Hank, Pedro, Wendy, Sophie, and Charlotte just frowned. Dracula then approached to Marvin and ask him a question.

"Marvin, is it okay if don't tell my father and the others about? They're still old-school when it comes to the humans. I know for a fact that they'll never approve of Mavis marrying a human." Dracula asked.

"Well, you have point about that. Vlad and Lydia were always the 'old-school' vampires but... sure. I'll inform the Council to make sure that they'll never know about it. I do hope that they change their thoughts about the humans in the future." Marvin answered.

"Thank you." Dracula said. He also hoped that the rest of the Dracula family could accept Johnny and the humans in the future but not today.

"Drac, I gotta ask. Is the bomb still in the ballroom?" Johnny spoke up.

"No. I had the armored knights locked it in the dungeon. Why do you ask?" Dracula answered.

"I think it's best if you dispose that machine away from the hotel and destroy. Be careful with the canister though, who knows what's inside it." Johnny said. He didn't want his family to learn more about the Joker's toxin and what's he planning.

"Of course, my boy. I'll have the knights take care of that right away." Dracula quickly answered.

Before they leave the room for Johnny to get some rest, Mavis and Johnny asked if Marvin if he could attend to their wedding in the future. Marvin delightfully accepted the invite and wouldn't missed it for the world. He also wished the young couple nothing but love and happiness for their future. Everyone left the room except Mavis giving her and Johnny some alone time.

"Hi." Mavis said smiling at Johnny.

"Hey." Johnny smiled back.

"So how are you feeling?" Mavis asked as she joined Johnny on the bed to cuddle.

"I'm doing a lot better now. My cheek kinda hurts a little though." Johnny answered. Mavis just giggled at Johnny and kissed him on the cheek.

"Okay much better." Johnny answered as both of them cuddled for a few minutes. Mavis starred at Johnny and was giving a worried look.

"Don't ever do that again, alright?" Mavis worriedly said. Johnny knew what she meant so he didn't have to ask what that was.

"Alright I won't. As long you're safe and happy." Johnny said as he kissed Mavis on the forehead.

"I was kinda expecting Batman to show up. He would've stopped those intruders earlier and you never would've got shot." Mavis sadly said.

"If Batman wasn't here, I'm sure it's because he's needed more somewhere else. I wouldn't take it personally." Johnny answered. He also wished that he could've worn the Batsuit earlier but his family would think that Johnny Loughran would live his family behind.

"I guess you're right." Mavis said. With that, Johnny smiled at her.

Both Mavis and Johnny went to sleep in the emergency room. Mavis didn't want to leave Johnny's side until he gets better so she rested her head on his chest as a pillow.
