Chapter 15

The Next Day.....
Dracula was in his office finishing up some paperworks until an armored knight entered the room to give him the latest news.

"Sir! It appears you have a guest waiting for your presence." The Knight announced.

"If he or she is going to check in a room, the zombie employees can help it with that." Dracula said lazily while finishing the paperwork.

"You might want to greet him personally, sir." The Knight suggested. Just then, a vampire guest entered the Count's office.

"Hello, Count Dracula." The vampire greeted. Dracula instantly knew who this is.

"Councilman!" Dracula shouted in surprise seeing a member of the Vampire Council in his hotel, where the human Johnny was living for a couple of months now.

"Thank you for your assistance but we can take it from here." The Vampire Councilman said as the armored knight saluted and exits the office. "So how's the hotel doing, Dracula?" The Vampire Councilman asked kindly.

"It's doing well actually." Dracula said laughing nervously as he stopped working on his paperworks for the time being. "So what do I owe the visit for, councilman?" Dracula asked even though he kinda guessed it already.

"I think you already know why I'm here, my friend." The Vampire Councilman sigh. "You know the sacred job of the Vampire Council is to protect the existence of monsters away from the human world, but then we heard a news about a human living here in your hotel for several months now, am I correct?"

"I'm afraid it's true." Dracula lowered his head in guilt knowing he broke that rule.

"Dracula, my dear friend. What are you doing?" The Vampire Councilman said in disapproval even though he has a calm tone. "You know what the Council will say about this when you reveal our presence to the humans. Some of them might still hunt our kind."

"I know, but this is different now. Johnny is a good human. He showed me that humans aren't the same back then anymore." Dracula explained to his friend. "Plus.... he zinged with my daughter and they're about to get married."

"They zinged?" The Vampire Councilman had his eyes widened in surprise from what Dracula said. A human and a vampire... zinged?

Before Dracula could even continue to speak, someone suddenly walked in to his office .

"Hey dad...." Mavis said as she entered her father's office to check up on him.

"Mavis!" Dracula exclaimed in horror while Mavis was confused with the person accompanying her father.

"Who's this guy?" Mavis asked confusingly as she pointed at the Vampire Councilman.

"Oh, he's just an old friend of mine catching up. Nothing interesting happening here." Dracula laughed nervously and forming a fake smile. He didn't want to involve Mavis into this problem but the Vampire Councilman spoke.

"Dracula, I think we should let her join in this conversation." The Vampire Councilman suggested.

"What are you guys talking about?" Mavis asked a little nervous.

"It's nothing, Mavis!" Dracula yelled which startled Mavis then turned his attention to his friend. "Please, don't involve her in this. She's too young to understand."

"Dracula, I understand that you only wanted to protect Mavis but she NEEDS to know about this. This situation involves her and her fiancé. They're lives depends on it, especially the human one." The Vampire Councilman said in a calm tone but deep down, Dracula knew he was right. His daughter needs to know what was about to happen.

"What do you mean, this involves me and Johnny?" Mavis was now getting scared about this 'situation' and mostly Johnny getting involved in this.

"I think it's probably best if you would take a seat first, dear." The Vampire Councilman suggested as Mavis sits down at a nearby chair before the older vampire could explain. "Mavis, you know your father is a member of the Vampire Council, right? That explains why he hasn't been around lately at the hotel when you were young. Our duty is to protect the existence of our monster kind from the human world. That is until when the Vampire Council was informed that your human fiancé has discovered this hotel and has been living here for several of months now. This worries the Council."

"Is this means that... Johnny's in trouble?" Mavis asked worriedly.

"Well that depends, Mavis." The Vampire Councilman said as he lowered his head. "The Vampire Council will prepare a hearing here at the hotel next week to discuss about the fate of you two being together. If they didn't approve, I'm afraid they might have to expel the human out from our world." The Vampire Councilman finished while Mavis was now in tears after hearing the horrible news.

"No! I don't want that to happen! Please.... don't take him away from me... please!" Mavis begged as she cried while Dracula quickly went over to his daughter and give her a comforting hug.

"Shhh.... There there, Mavy. Daddy's right here. I promise you that I won't let this happen." Dracula calmly said trying his best to comfort Mavis. The Vampire Councilman was also saddened to see how much this hurts Mavis, especially loosing a zing even though Johnny was human but suddenly an idea came up on the vampire's head.

"There is a way to stop this from happening, though." The Vampire Councilman suggested which caught Dracula and Mavis' attention.

"What do you mean?" Dracula asked still comforting Mavis.

"Maybe we can convince the Council to change their minds about the humans. You said that your future son-in-law showed you that humans have changed now, well this might be the chance that monsters and humans can live in peace." The Vampire Councilman suggested while Dracula and Mavis gasped at the idea.

"Wou.... would that work?" Mavis asked between her sobs.

"Hopefully. All we need is everyone to be there, including the human. If the Council asked for those who are favored with Mavis and Johnny being together, then I'm on your side." The Vampire Councilman smiled showing his full support for Mavis and Johnny being together. Dracula and Mavis smiled back giving them hope.

"Thank you. That really means a lot for us." Dracula said while the Vampire Councilman just nodded. The Vampire Councilman then turned his attention to Mavis.

"Don't worry. We'll get through this." The Vampire Councilman said smiling at Mavis, who gave a weak smile but appreciated it.

"Thank you, sir." Mavis said.

"The name is Marvin." The Vampire Councilman/Marvin said as he introduced himself. Before Marvin could leave the room, Dracula called him out.

"Marvin, wait! Does my father or any my family knows about this?" Dracula asked a little nervously.

"No. Vladimir, Lydia, and Gene doesn't know anything about the situation. I know it's not my place to tell them." Marvin said in a friendly gesture while Dracula sigh in relief knowing that the rest of the Dracula family wouldn't approve of Mavis marrying a human.

"Thank you. I know that they can be 'old school' when it comes on the humans." Dracula said.

"I know and you're welcome, Drac. I better get back to the Vampire Council. We'll see you all next week." Marvin said before leaving Dracula's office.

"We'll be ready." Dracula said as Marvin left the office, leaving Dracula and Mavis alone.

"Daddy, what if the Council doesn't allow me and Johnny to be together? I don't want to lose him!" Mavis started to sob in tears again.

"That won't happen, my little voodoo doll. I won't let them take Johnny away from you." Dracula hugged Mavis again to comfort her. Martha promised Mavis that she would find and be happy with her zing forever and Dracula will do everything to fulfill Martha's wish for Mavis. "I also need you to get Johnny right now. He needs to know about this as well."

Mavis agreed wiping the rest of her tears and turned into her bat form to find Johnny. A couple of minutes later, Johnny was now joined by Dracula and Mavis inside the Count's office. Dracula told Johnny that the Vampire Council were planning to separate him away from Mavis and the monster world, which left Johnny like he was about to have a mental breakdown.

"There going to what!?" Johnny shouted in horror.

"Johnathan, don't worry. All we need to do is to convince the Council to change their thoughts about why you and Mavis should be together. Luckily, we also have a member of the Council in our side. Hopefully they would approve." Dracula explained trying to calm Johnny down.

"What if they didn't approve?" Johnny asked while shaking in fear. He surely didn't want to end his life with Mavis.

"Then they had no choice but to exile you and your family from the monster world or they'll erase your memories of every monsters you've met, including Mavis." Dracula sadly said lowering his head down.

Johnny's eyes widened and gasped in horror. First he lost his parents and now he's going to lose Mavis. Johnny was breathing heavily and nervously until Mavis gently puts her hand on his shoulder, wiping out some of his nervousness away.

"So what are we going to do now?!" Mavis timidly asked.

"We wait until next week. The Vampire Council will be expecting us all in that time here at the hotel." Dracula replied.
