Anti-Insomniac

POV HAWKS

Now

"Well, I'm exhausted," Mirko says, hopping up off the couch. "Nice kicking your ass again, Hawks, but I'm gonna head out."

"It was ten to eight," I chuckle, following her to the door. "Not that much of a difference."

"Still a difference," Mirko sings. "Well, I'll see you around, okay? Get some friggin' sleep, and remember what I said! I'm always here if you need me."

"Okay," I say, watching her leave. "Bye bunny girl!"

"Bye birdie boy!"

I shut the door and slump down against it, groaning loudly. Life is so tiring... Sometimes I question why I'm a hero in the first place. I just want some room to breathe; it's like the hero commission is holding me by the throat. I don't even want to infiltrate the league of villains. Mirko is right– it's dangerous, and I might die. Of course, she doesn't know I'm a trained soldier for infiltration, wired and raised to avoid psychological tricks, but still. It doesn't make it any less overwhelming.

I grab my phone off the coffee table and reply to Tokoyami's snap. He sent a picture of him, Tsuyu, Shoto, Iida, and Deku posing like cartoon gangsters, arms crossed over their chests and goofy frowns on their faces. I chuckle and send a picture of my face up close, eyes wide. Then I shut off my phone, turn off all the lights, and mope to my room.

I yank my blankets up and crawl under, sighing to myself. Just as my muscles relax, I feel an unusual warmth coming from the other side of my bed. My feathers tingle, and I jerk up, narrowing my eyes. I click on the lamp on my bedside table, seeing none other than Dabi asleep, shirtless, in my bed. "WHAT IN THE GOD-FORSAKEN MC-SHIT ARE YOU DOING IN MY BED, YOU CRUMBLY, BURNT PIECE OF TOAST?!" I squeal, jumping out of my bed. Dabi groans, rolling over, and plops onto the floor.

"Damn it," he grumbles. "Shiggy, leave me the hell alone..." He stands up, revealing his bare body, covered just by a loose pair of boxers. His clothes are lost somewhere in the sea of my bed. "Huh? Keigo? Shit, am I drunk again?"

"Wha- what did you just call me?" My heart is pounding so loud in my ears. I can barely stand up straight. Did he hear about the infiltration plan? How does he know where I live? Does he have back-up? He's not in the right state to fight, but there's no way he's here alone... I grab my sharpest feather in a death grip. "Why are you in my house?"

"Stop yelling, Birdie," Dabi grumbles, shaking his head. "I just broke a sixty two hour insomniac streak. You really had to start screaming? Jesus christ..."

"I don't care!" I scream, my hands shaking. "How do you know my name?! D-does the whole league know? A-and how?! I thought I erased that name."

"Simple," Dabi says, rolling his shoulders back. "The past never dies. Now shut up and lay down. We can talk in the morning."
