Season 05, Episode 01 | The New Normal

I wake to the loud buzzing of the alarm clock.

Seriously, who gets up at 6 am to be in the office by 9 am? ... Oh ya – Dwayne Johnson does. Even now, at 45 years old, he is still up early for his morning workout.

Groaning, I roll over and hit the snooze button. I have never been a super early riser and leave the 'waking the kids' task to my husband. Dwayne, of course, does this every morning at 5:50 and heads downstairs for a workout. He will probably be in here any minute to peel me out of our bed anyways. After a date night the previous evening, I figure it is his fault that I am more sleepy than usual this morning. Smirking to myself for my clever justification, I pull the blankets up to my chin and try to get another ten minutes of sleep.

I hear the buzzer again and "Kourt, baby? You awake yet?" I open my eyes to see my sexy husband smiling at me affectionately. He is dressed in his gray suit. I can't hide my beaming smile from the glorious sight in front of me. He looks even more edible as he kisses me awake. And he is allllll mine, I think to myself contentedly. "It is precisely 6:41," he informs me. Oops, I overslept by just a few minutes...

"Hi," I sigh, kissing him back.

"How was your sleep?" he asks.

"I slept like a baby, how 'bout you?"

"I slept well. It's probably thanks to the beautiful woman who kept me warm all night long," he smirks down at me.

"Mmm, yes, I had a pretty hot date last night myself."

He surprises me when he swoops down to pick me up off the bed and spins me around before kissing me passionately. "I love you, Mrs. Johnson," he says assertively.

"I love you too, Mr. Johnson," and I can't help the giggle that escapes me.

"I better go get those kids of ours up and moving for school," he states. Nodding sleepily, he runs his hands down my back and over my ass, cupping my cheeks and squeezing them. Winking at me, he exits the bedroom, and I hear his footsteps treading down the hallway to the kids' bedrooms.

It is a cloudy spring day, and after the wake-up call from my gorgeous husband, I feel much more energetic on a spring Friday morning. I have a lunch date planned with my sister, Kim, and Khloe, who have big news to share with me. I've been anticipating the meeting all week long and dreading what they are going to tell me. Kim and Khloe with big news can only mean one thing – trouble.

The rest of my morning moves along quickly, and I am feeling accomplished. I've been working on a healthy gluten-free cookbook and even a workout video this week, and I am excited to see my works published. Glancing at the clock, I realize it's nearly noon and time for my lunch date.

I'm so excited for the cookbook and workout video to come out. This is something that I'm passionate about, but for now, I have to go to Chen's to meet with Kim and Khloe because one of them has something important to tell. Hopefully, it's Khloe and not Kim. Kim's news is never really exciting or as important as she thinks.

I arrive at The Chen restaurant, where Kim and Khloe are already seated, and they seem to be having a pretty intense conversation. I wonder if I am interrupting something, but Khloe sees me and shouts across the restaurant, "Kourt! We've been waiting for you; get over here!" Khloe is all giggles, and I wonder what has her all riled up. They are both looking at each other and then at me, then at each other repeatedly.

"Oh fuck it, I'll tell her myself!" Khloe says. What's this?

"What's going on?" I asked.

"I'm having a baby," Kim replied.

"What?" I asked.

"Yup, we're using a surrogate," Kim answered.

"Congratulations," I said.

"Can we take a selfie to celebrate the news?" Kim asked.

"Sure," I said, standing up and walking around to stand in between her and Khloe.

"Another one, and this time Khloe is in the middle," I said, moving to Khloe's other side.

Okay, so Kim's news wasn't horrible as I thought it would be, and I'm super happy for Kanye and her because I know how hard they were trying for another baby and it to happen finally. I know it's super exciting, and now I think I'm ready for another baby too. I have to figure out how to get Dwayne on board with having another child.

"Penelope, are you ready to make some cookies?" I asked Penelope as I poured the cookie mix into the bowl.

"I love cookies. Oh, chocolate chips." Penelope said, sticking her hand into the bowl and picking up chocolate, and eating it.

"Okay, that's it, no more Penelope," I said.

"Now we need one egg. No more chocolate." I said, walking over to the refrigerator.

"Penelope, stop. You're going to get a stomach ache." I said, looking over my shoulder and seeing Bree eating more chocolate chips.

"I want chocolate," Penelope said.

"No, baby girl, you're gonna get salmonella," I said, placing the egg on the counter.

"I like salmonella," Penelope said.

"No, you don't," I said.

"Daddy is the cookies for mommy," Penelope said.

"No, it is for you and your siblings," I said.

"Can we give some to uncle Josh and KoKo?" Penelope asked.

"Sure, we can save some for Josh and KoKo," I replied.

Simone walked into the kitchen with her best friend, Dinah. They took a seat on the island. I pulled out the first tray of baked cookies.

"Hey, dad," Simone said.

"Hey, Mimi," I said.

"Hi, Mr.Johnson," Dinah said.

"Hi Dinah, and call me Dwayne; I don't know how many times I have to tell you that," I said.

"Sorry," Dinah said.

"It's okay," I said, putting another batch of the cookies in the oven. "Mason, the cookies are done!" I exclaimed.

"Mommy!" Penelope screamed, running into Kourtney's arms as she walked into the kitchen.

"Hi, you guys," Kourtney said.

"Cookies!" Mason yelled, running into the kitchen.

"Mason, no running in the kitchen," Kourtney said.

"So, how was your day?" I asked Kourtney.

"It was normal. I finished the cookbook and the workout videos, and Kim told me some exciting news." Kourtney said as she put Penelope next to Simone.

"That's great, and what kind of exciting news?" I asked.

"Kanye and her having a baby via surrogate," Kourtney replied.

"Are you serious?" I asked.

"Yes, I'm serious. You know how hard her first two pregnancies were, so I think a surrogate was the best choice for them." Kourtney said.

"Yeah, you're right," I said, eating a cookie.

I'm excited for Kanye and Kim. I'm surprised, but Kanye did say he wanted seven kids. So good luck with the journey of pregnancy Kim and Kanye.

"Where's Reign?" Kourtney asked.

"He's taking a nap," Dwayne answered.

Dwayne: Kris called us over for a family meeting, and to be honest, that woman is scary, and sometimes I don't know what she says in these meetings, but Kourt always tells me when we get home.

Kourtney: Dwayne daydreams when my mom gathers us up for these family meetings.

"Okay, you guys, I called this family meeting because a lot of things are changing in our family, and I want us to be on top of everything," Kris said.

"What's going on?" I asked.

"It's just a lot of things from cosmetics to personal lives," Kris said.

"What's up with the personal lives?" Dwayne asked.

"All I'm gonna say is as a family, and we have to be stronger than ever and have each other's backs," Khloe said.

"I guess this is the new normal then," Dwayne said.

"I wonder if she's pregnant..."

"Isn't marriage about sacrifices..."

"Kylie, what? I'm coming."

"I do want another baby," Kourtney, replies with a smile. "I guess we'll see," she adds in a separate scene, talking to the camera.

"To a new chapter, baby," Dwayne tells Kourtney.

"We are going to finally get some time to be a family," Kourtney says. "That's what we love the most."

"I need to see what it's like when I have two, but [having kids] is what life is about," she said. "I'm not going on the pill. I don't believe in it anymore!"

"If he cheated on her, that's fucked up."

"I love you."

"I love you more."

"The Johnson's, baby!"
