ch7

Midoriya woke up to an old woman in his face.

"Gah, what happened!" His outburst was rewarded with a smack to the head with the woman's cane.

Owww

"Children these days no respect, tsk." She shot a sharp glare that sent shivers down Izuku's feathers. The lady walked to her desk to type in an intimidating nurse fashion. Izuku looked down at the covers covering half his body, and the now half-melted ice pack resting on his legs.

Izuku held his head in pain and looked around. His surroundings were that of the school infirmary. "Is this the school infirmary, Ms... umm" The lady's eyes softened as she saw his confusion. "It's Recovery Girl. Mr. Aizawa and Hawks brought you here." Izuku brightened.

"Ke- I mean Hawks and Mr. Aizawa brought me here?" The absence of the two subjects drew lines of confusion on Izuku's forehead. "But then where are they then?" Recovery Girl turned back to her computer to type some more intimidating taps and clicks. "The young man is sleeping on the bed behind the curtain. He might still be resting, why he's worked so hard I'll never know. Poor boy." The last part was muttered. Recovery Girl sighed as she continued to focus on her screen.

Izuku turned to the curtain draped neatly to his right. The cotton fabric covered the tucked in corner of the room. The sun rays beamed through the tiny holes in the curtain, showing specks of dust dancing in the air. It was as if the sun was beckoning him to peak behind at the sleeping figure shadowed by the light.

"If you don't mind me asking another question?" The elder woman turned to look up at him from her papers. "Go on." She gestured with one of her rubber gloves. "How long have I been asleep." The woman set the pencil down and swiveled to the teen. She readjusted her spectacles and peered closer to the clipboard resting on her small lap.

"Well if it's by the time you arrived I'd say only for an hour. Your lucky if I do say so myself, I've seen enough head injuries to be able to tell you it always can be worse. Plus you need to be extra careful since your skull is lacking in terms of durability given that your bones are lighter to allow you flight." Izuku sheepishly scratched his neck. "Sorry." "Anyways you can wake up that pile of feathers and leave. You guys just missed lunch but if you take this note to the cafe then I'm sure they'll be willing to let you guys eat. Now shoo, if you please." She wrote a note and left it on Izuku's bed before trotting off out to the hallway.

Izuku turned to look at the curtain next to him before getting out of the bed and sliding into his slippers. He padded across the cold floor and barely resisted a skip as he stood nose to nose with the curtain. Taking counted breaths he slid open the curtain to find a sun-kissed teen staring at him. His breath caught in his throat when his stare became a smile.

Izuku began smiling and with direct sunlight filtered from the window, it was gorgeous. Keigo didn't know why his heart began to beat a little faster. He didn't know why he felt weightless and airy even though he was sitting.

"HELLLOOOO!"

The door slid open and in came Muriko with her large rabbit ears standing at attention. She sent a wink toward Keigo and smiled at Izuku as she came with a large aura of confidence. She carried a large plastic bag which could only be described as delicious. Both boys seemed to have their noses in the air smelling the obvious aroma of freshly cooked lunch. Their stomachs growled.

"Calm down boys cause Momma just arrived with your lunch. You don't have to thank me of course, because this is what friends do." She placed the food out on the small table in between both beds and sat down on Keigo's sheets. She looked up at Izuku. "Well, aren't you going to eat? Pull up a chair and get munching, after all." She turned towards Hawks who was already filling up his plate and mouth with chicken. "Obiro-sensei is looking forward to putting you through the training course." Keigo chocked.

Izuku pulled up his chair and listened intently as he began filling up his plate with an assortment of meats and a few vegetables. As well as putting a couple on Keigo's plate since they were practically non-existent. As well as the tray of vegetables being pushed all the way to Izuku.

"Awww come onnnn, you can't be serious." Hawks whined. He gave a deadpanned stare to the rabbit who was now scrolling on her phone and tapping a rhythmic beat on the floor. "Yeah tots man, so you better move before the punishment becomes worse. I'll go on ahead of you guys and try to reason with the man, ok see you later, goodbye." She placed a kiss on Keigo's cheek before he rubbed at the spot furiously.

Muriko stood up and walked over to Izuku who was now gaping at them with half-eaten food in his open mouth. He continued to stare at her like she was some type of ghost from Christmas past. Words on the tip of his tongue were cut off by a bone-crushing hug and a wet kiss on the forehead. A blush rose to his cheeks and rolling nausea in his stomach was replaced with embarrassment. "U-u-um."

"Nice to meet you sweet checks move this bird brain along for me, don't want to get in too much trouble." With that, she left after sending a wink to the two. Looking at the door to looking at the boy across from him Izuku was dazed. Keigo's mouth was full of food when he began to chuckle.

"Wha-Hey don't laugh at me." After struggling to swallow down his food the laughing grew. It was light and warm and free. Izuku's cheeks grew in red. "Stop what's so funny anyways is there something on my face?" The laughing soon became the young man dying on the ground while clutching his stomach. Midoriya continued to roam his hands around his face to try and find something.

"So you're telling me that you can't see how he's a troubled child." Aizawa tried stating with his arms crossed on his chest. Recovery girl tsked at the man trying to start an argument with her.

"Aizawa dear it's only the first day, if anything to go by you were one of the most troubling children I've seen at this school. Leave the boy to me if anything happens and scold if need be. But until you can confess I'll have no part in this."

She sent him a look as if her words had two meanings.

The tired-looking man could only sigh and avert his attention under judgmental eyes.
