Chapter 15 (Hawks)

I'm sorry for the late upload. I was distracted yesterday.

"Time to get up, Baby Bird," Touya whispers in my ear while running his hand through my hair.

We've been stuck in this damned fortress for too long, and I'm extremely worried about Kaito, leaving him in the hands of the Hero Commission, but we have no choice. War is coming to the hero world, and Endeavor doesn't have the time to focus on helping us get him out of their hands. He's gotta help with planning the raid on the hospital and this godforsaken fortress. Once we defeat the Liberation Army, we'll start working on a plan to get Kai out of the Commission's hands, but until then, our hands are tied. I can't wait until the battle today is over so that I we can focus on protecting my Baby boy instead of letting the stupid Commission have their way.

"Come on." Touya grabs my hand and pulls me up to a seated position, immediately freezing my bare skin as the blanket falls off my naked body. "I'm just as worried as you are, but we have to get this done."

He won't say exactly what he's worried about because he knows that the rest of the Paranormal Liberation Front doesn't trust me, and Skeptic has audio recording devices all over me. None of these villains need to know anything about our son, lest they realize that we're spying on them for the Hero Commission. They especially don't need to figure out that "Dabi" is actually the new pro hero who's often seen patrolling with me.

Knowing that I have a job to do, I climb out of bed and get dressed. Today is the day of the raid, so I have to be ready to go after Twice. Hopefully, Touya and I can subdue our targets because they both are in desperate need of therapy. If we can just help Toga and Twice, all of this will have been worth it. They could both start over and live normal lives.

I wish there was something we could do for all of the League, help them to see the errors of their ways, become better, maybe even become heroes like Touya, but we can't. Touya and I were only allowed to choose one person to try and save each. I chose Twice because of how innocent and pure the man is no matter what he's done. All he really needs is someone to care about him and take care of him, to help him realize that this isn't his only option. Touya, forever the older brother no matter how much he tries to deny it, chose Toga. I can see why. Toga was scorned by society due to her quirk, and he wants to show her that there's other ways to live her life and be herself without having to kill people. His older brother instincts insist on trying to save the girl who should still be in school rather than fighting against society. I hope that we can truly help both of them.

"Have fun explaining our cause to Twice," Touya grins mischievously as we leave our bedroom. "He's even denser than you think."

I roll my eyes at him before pulling the man in for a quick kiss. "And you have fun in your boring meeting. I'm sure it's going to be a blast."

Touya plucks one of my feathers from my right wing and spins it between two fingers with a smirk plastered across his face. "Don't make me torture you, Baby Bird. I can make talking to Twice that much harder."

Despite his teasing tone, I can hear the forced malice there too. I hate that we have to be so damned careful, making sure that no one realizes that he's not just playing me as that's the explanation that he gave to the others about our relationship. He told them that he's simply toying with me to keep me under control. I want all this to be over so that Kaito, Touya and I can be a proper family without all this bullshit forcing us to leave him with the Commission.

As I start to walk away, I can hear Skeptic starting to talk to Touya about our relationship, specifically reminding Touya not to get too attached in case I am a traitor. Joke's on that creepy guy, I'm not the only traitor.

True to his word, Touya plays with the feather all through his damn meeting, making me moan at random points during my conversation with Twice. It's not an uncommon occurrence, since Touya let the League find out about our relationship, claiming it's his way of keeping a close eye on Kaito and I. That was his way of keeping them away from Kai, he told Shigaraki that he was going to stay at my apartment and fake being in a relationship with me to keep a close eye on us. Now, anytime he's not directly in the same room as me, he always has one of my feathers to do this.

"F-fuck," I moan out, dropping from my standing position onto the couch.

"What did he do? I don't care!" Twice asks. I've learned to decipher his ramblings over the time I've known the schizophrenic man. The first thing he blurts out is what he actually means, and the second is his split mind counteracting whatever it is that's said.

I roll my eyes, sitting back up. "You don't want to know." I'm going to beat my boyfriend over this one of these days, especially if he's going to keep rubbing my feather there. I go to force my feather to return, but he's got a good grip on it. Damn it, Touya, I need to focus for when the battle starts.

"I just don’t understand," Twice looks completely baffled looking back at the chalkboard I had been writing on. "It makes perfect sense." The duality of his speech drags a sigh of exasperation out of me. How can someone survive constantly discrediting everything they say like that? I feel bad for the guy.

The moment I hear the sounds of fighting, I go to take down Twice. Throughout our fight, I'm trying to convince the man to come with me, to let me help him, but he won't. I'm forced to hurt him, so I knock him out, but the only way that's possible is to hurt him so badly he's on the brink of death and rush him to the first aid station. I slap some quirk inhibiting cuffs on him the moment I drop him off in the tent and let Recovery Girl do her job as I fly back to the fortress to help Touya.

When I finally find my boyfriend, he's in the middle of a fight with some heroes and Liberation Army people, making his attacks look like they're meant for the heroes, but actually hitting members of the Liberation Army instead. I don't join the fight, choosing to look for Toga instead. If Touya can't find her, then I'm going to have to.

Just as I reach the crazy girl, Gigantomachia grabs her and throws her on his back. I fly alongside, pretending to be part of whatever is going on as he snatches up different members of the League of Villains, and Touya drags Skeptic along with him. I don't know why he chose to grab the nuisance, but he does.

"Dabi-kun?" Toga sounds shocked, so I actually look at Touya. Shit, where's his disguise? He's dressed in the same outfit he always wears as Dabi, but his skin, his hair, he's my Touya again. How did I manage to not notice that earlier? "Why don't you look like yourself?"

Touya looks at his arms and curses.
