๐Ÿ’œ 1 NEW TOWN ๐Ÿ’œ

A love thee with a love that shall not die, till the sun grows cold and the star grows old.
- Shakespeare

High school are sometimes romantic but it gives way to a reality which they don't think will happen.

"The protector is here," the tall, stout man said to another man standing opposite him. The two men were hidden in the shadows, only vague shapes and their voices gave their position away. The men sounded very serious. The light of the nearest street lamp reflected on two pairs of sharp canines, which resembled an animal's fangs.

"This time we shall not miss the red stone. Even if it costs a life, I don't care." The other vampire said, with anger booming in his voice.

"She won't be able to escape this time, I promise you that. This time the protector is a girl, unlike before, and she had never shown any power, unlike the others before her. It will be easy for us to kill her and get the Red stone from her."

"Let's keep an eye on her, and when we get the chance, we will kill her." The color of the vampire's eyes changed from blue to red. His fangs were so sharp, and his voice was filled with rage.

Zella entered the room, her stuff scattered around. She set her suitcase near the bed, which was an inch away from the window. She scanned her new room, focusing on a tiny balcony that gave her a view of the garden area. A wooden wardrobe laid next to the huge mirror and desk. She approached the wardrobe and opened the doors to reveal two huge shelves separated by small, tiny shelves. She unpacked her suitcase and shifted her dresses to the wardrobe, humming 'despacito' while doing so.

Once all was tidy and put away, Zella stretched her arms and legs and sat on the bed to relax herself, tired by the hard work. She walked towards the window to peek out a little. She noticed a few people walking by, then lifted her gaze and saw a handsome guy from the apartment across the street, staring at her as if he was eyeing a piece of cake.

"Not again, I'm done with this. Why does everyone stare at me? I don't want it to happen here as well. I don't want anyone to fight because of me." She sighed.

She moved away from the window, hiding herself. She waited a while, occupying herself with some more tidying up, then, when she assumed he had left, she returned to the window to survey the place.

Two storey buildings were scattered all around, gardens filled with flowers, the scent of which filled her nostrils in a pleasant way, and beautiful butterflies with colourful wings.

Zella Christi was a young high school girl with flowing golden curls so smooth and silky they looked almost as if they were tailored from golden fabric, she was princess-like. Her ivory skin, green piercing eyes, and pink rosy lips gave her a delicate appearance. Something radiated from within her that rendered her irresistible to both men and women. Men desired her and women envied her with jealousy.

A humble innocent young girl, Zella, was the daughter of one of the most famous doctors in town, Dr. Edward Christi, and the famous poetess, Mrs. Wizzia Christi, who was renowned for her fantasy poems.

They had been living a beautiful life in Western city, when her father got a transfer to another town.

"I hate this. Why can't dad just stay in one place? This is the third time he is doing this," Zella mumbled to herself.

She sat on the floor and started to think about her old school.

"Zella, pass me that ball," Kelan shouted.

"You did it, Kelan!" She exclaimed in joy when Kelan kicked the ball with extreme precision.

Recalling those memories brought on a wave of loneliness on Zella. She missed her old friends. After four long years she had barely managed to make five true friends over there, the only ones that were not as enamoured as everyone else was with her appearance . Girls used to envy her beauty while boys tried to flirt with her.

She had always avoided them, both boys and girls, because she didn't care about being gawked at like a science experiment. Their attention brought unwanted jealousy and scrutiny.

Those five individuals had been there to save her. She still remembered how she had held her teddy-bear, her only friend at the time, close to herself and mumbled, "Don't worry hubby. We'll make friends soon."

She shook her head, and looked around. She then went to the drawer to pick up some clothes to change herself into.

"What should I choose now? Wow! This one is my favourite! Pink! Pink! Pink!"

She took a pink top and matching shorts and then took a quick shower. She came out and got dressed.

Zella had a brother, Zad, who was extremely annoying. Unlike Zella, Zad was always surrounded by his friends. On top of his fame, he was a playboy too, but he loved his sister immensely. Once, he even broke a guy's nose because that guy had teased her. He always stood with Zella when problems came across her.

A few more days were left before their school started. Zella really wanted to make friends in this new town, but she was a bit worried as well due to her past experiences.

"I hope people here are different", Zella silently wished.

She was listening to the sound of birds chirping as the wind played with her hair
and then, suddenly, she was choking. On what, she didn't know. It was like something was stuck in her throat. She could feel someone watching her.

"I feel like someone is following me. I have felt like this since I entered this town." Her intuition told her that something was wrong. She looked out onto the street, but couldn't see anyone there. The choking feeling stopped all of a sudden, as quick as it came.

Zella moved across the room, enjoying the several moments of feeling carefree. She stood in front of the mirror and placed her hand on her tristar birthmark. Her touch elicited a burning sensation on it. Zella had a feeling that something was wrong. She remembered the terrifying stories her grandmother used to tell.

The vampires... The way they sucked blood out of humans. They used to drain the blood out of humans until their victims resembled living corpses. It took brave men, who fought against those vampires, to conquer them. Her grandmother had a vivid imagination for sure.

Her thoughts were interrupted by someone calling her by her name. She turned back to find the one who called her, but to her surprise, there was no one.

"Am I day dreaming... Or am I just scaring myself for no reason?" She laughed softly at herself. She continued to gaze at her reflection in the mirror, eyeing the necklace and smiling at her own beautiful reflection.

When suddenly...
