"Yes, call the Chicago police and inform them we'll want updates on their current investigation about a blown-up restaurant," I tell him. "Got it boss," Alex says and I hang up. 

Adonis:

Kiera wakes up a few hours after she's put into my room and I wait for her eyes to adjust. She looks around until she sees me and she starts crying. I gently touch her arm and say "Hey, it's ok." I brush hair out of her face and caress her cheek. "You're safe now," I add. I wipe away her tears and wait for her to stop. "I'm so sorry," she says.

I look at her confused. "You didn't do anything wrong μωρό(baby). This wasn't your fault" I say. "No, you don't understand," she sobs. She continues for awhile before she chokes out "He's gone. He's gone because of me, I'm so sorry." I look at her confused before I slowly realize. Nico. He died for her. He promised me that night he would, and he kept it. I failed to keep the promise I made to him. A few tear roll down my face and a manage to say "It's not your fault μωρό(baby), just remember that please." She shakes her head and I ask her "Can I cuddle you please?" She nods and I get in bed and wrap my arms around her.

We both fall asleep after crying together and I say I a silent thank you to Nico. His sacrifice brought me back Kiera. I just wish the price wasn't my best friend.

Dream

I wake up in a field and look around. There's wildflowers blooming around me and the most wonderful scent of daisies and lavender. I get out of the makeshift bed and walk around. I hear laughter and go towards it. I see Nico playing in the old treehouse and I run to join him.

"Hey, what took you so long," he asks. "I fell asleep," I say laughing. "You fell asleep out here?" He says joining my laughter. We spend the rest of our afternoon playing around the forest. We head down to the river bed to clean up and he pushes me in. "Oh, you're going to pay for that," I say. I tackle him and we wrestle.

He taps out when I pin him down and we get up and start laughing again as we finish cleaning ourselves up. I wish this day would never end.

End of dream.

I wake up withe Kiera in my arms and I kiss her on the cheek. I wipe away a fresh tear on my face and hold her closer to me. This isn't how I expected the new year to be. This bittersweet moment. I'm back with Kiera but I lost my best friend. I want to mourn him but I want to celebrate getting Kiera back. It's going to be hard. I just need Kiera to be safe now and to be able to put his body to rest.

Kiera stirs in her sleep and not long after wakes up. She stretches out and that's when I feel her stomach. She's skinner that she used to be but she has a small stomach bump. Bigger than her stomach used to be. "Good morning," she says as she turns to look at me. I smile and say "Good morning μωρό(baby)." "Let's go eat," she suggests and I agree. We go down to the kitchen and my mom is there with pancakes waiting for us.

We start eating together and Kiera asks. "Where are the twins?" "In there nursery, it was a long flight back here," mom says. Kiera nods and continues eating. I wait for her to be done. She finishes after eating 3 pancakes and a few strawberries. She goes to grab some baby food but I stop her and get it so she doesn't have to walk to much.

Once we get to the nursery I help her get them into highchairs and she gives them their food. She watches them for awhile before she says "I have to tell you something." "Yes?" I ask. She swallows and says "I'm 4 weeks pregnant." I look at her shocked. "You're what?" I ask excitedly. "I'm pregnant," she says. I hug her and say "I'm so happy." She lets out a light and says "I am too. I-I love you." I freeze. "It's ok if you don't feel the sa-," she starts to say but I cut her off saying. "I love you too." She kisses me and I kiss her back. I don't want this moment to end.

She pulls away after a few minutes and says "I don't think I'll be ready to have sex with you for a while. I just need time." She looks down and starts playing with her fingers. "That's no problem. If you need anything I'll help you get it, do you want to go to therapy?" I ask her. "Yeah, I think it's time to," she says looking back up to me. "You said 4 weeks right?" I ask. She nods. "So it's mine," I say touching her stomach. She nods and says "Your heir I guess."

"I already have and heir," I say. She looks surprised and says "What! Who is it?" "Alina, she was born before Everett right?" I ask. "Yeah, but don't heirs have to be blood related?" she asks. "Not necessarily, and definitely not now that I'm the ruler of the underworld. If it's ok with you, I want to adopt them," I say. She smiles brightly and nods. "Yes, you can definitely adopt them," she says. I smile too and press my forehead on hers. "I love you," I say. "I love you too," she replies.

Everett starts crying making us pull apart and I go to pick him up. "You go rest, we can get a doctor here in 20 minutes to do a checkup on you," I say. She nods and walks back into our room while I put Everett onto the changing table. I think I should tell Kiera about my past soon. She told me about hers but I never told her about mine. I'll just have to wait for the right time.

Fast forward

"That's the gestational sac," the doctor says as she points at the screen to show a little dot. "What's that?" I ask. "Well, the pregnancy is to early along to be able to see the fetus on ultrasound. At this stage we can see the gestational sac which is a fluid filled structure that surrounds the embryo. It will take two more weeks to determine if the pregnancy is going to be viable but seeing this is a good sign," she explains.

"From everything else does it look good?" I ask. "Well Kiera is low on vitamin C and was not given good nutrition during her time taken. I have a dietary plan for her that highlights what she should be eating for good nutrition and vitamin C supplements for the time being. I'm also going to provide calcium supplements," she says. I look over at Kiera and she says "That would be great."

The doctor smiles and she cleans off Kiera's stomach before packing up her equipment and sitting back down. "I just need to ask you a few questions before I go," she says. "Ok," Kiera responds. She starts by saying "So I understand you have been pregnant before." Kiera nods. "Were there any complications with the pregnancy that may be of concern?" She asks. "Um, my hair thinned out a bit and my teeth felt weak," Kiera says. The doctor nods and responds "The calcium supplements and proper nutrition should take care of that this time around."

"Were there any complications with the birth or did you give birth prematurely?" She asks. Kiera says "I did loose a lot of blood during birth because I had twins but I recovered well, and they were actually born about a week after their due date." "Ok, thank you for answering my questions," the doctor says and gets up. Before she leaves I say "Thank you for coming, come back in 2 weeks please." She nods and says "Yes boss."

After the door shuts I lay next to Kiera and pull her close. "Do you want to talk about it?" I ask her. "About what?" She asks. "What happened while you were missing, and what happened to Nico," I say. She puts her head on my chest and starts to play with my shirt. "Sure," she says.
