Backstorys that explain their behaviour

Nightmare
-was an angel first but went to hell to actually accomplish something himself, he was tired of being just ordinary, besides he didn't want to get prized for only being Dream's brother. Once in hell he became a demon and then a demon lord. His goal is to become the strongest demon king.

Killer
-he is Nightmares first follower. He was never a mortal. The moment Nightmare yeeted down there Killer was already there waiting with a knife in hand. He tries to support the demon lord in becoming more and more powerful in his own weird way.

Horror
-he never actually died. He was turned into a demon by Nightmare while being on earth. He knows most demon things thanks to Nightmare teaching him but he also knows a lot of mortal things. He doesn't have wings like the others due to him not deserving demon wings yet, he was supposed to go to heaven.

Cross
-he was never a mortal. He was an angel and when Dream left the angels to follow Nightmare he went with him. After witnessing the unfairness of the world and how cruel it actually is he went to Nightmares side to make the world kneel under them. He doesn't know most demon things even tho Killer and Horror try to teach him. He still acts like an angel despite being a demon now. Guilty for leaving Dream.

Dust
-he was a spy trying to find out about the demon's for the church but after he realized that the demons are treating him much better than humans would he quit. He is a mortal, Nightmare gave him an option to become a demon when he is ready but he is hesitant to do so at the moment
