Love Language: Gift Giving

It started with a mumble of the words leaving your lips unknowingly aloud. Any word that left your mouth was recorded in Hawks' mind and stored away until he had time.

When you were eye shopping online, it seemed like Hawks wasn't paying attention, but less than a week later he showed up at your house with an item you were eyeing up.

Once while working, you mumbled about needing new pens as you were on your last pen. The next day, Hawks showed up with a pack of new pens, the kind that felt heavenly to write with (also known as your favorite brand), and a pack of Mochi donuts from a store you had been wanting to check out with or without him.

The smallest acts of kindness shown through his little gifts meant so much to you. It meant that he was listening to you and keeping your words to heart. It also made you wonder what else he was holding on to until the next time he was free. It was those moments that made you appreciate your bird man.

Hawks came over one day and in his hands was a sweater as he sat on your window sill.

"What's that for?" You asked as you tugged it on and felt how warm it made you.

"I'm taking you out tonight. I bought a sweater because last time I took you out flying you forgot one," Hawks explained as he stepped out of your window frame. He reached in for your hand which you took, and he pulled you out for your house into his arms.

He gave you a pair of visors to protect you from the wind and tugged on your hood. "You told me last time that the wind hurt your ears, and I thought you'd appreciate the glasses," he answered before you could ask.

You couldn't help but smile at the small gifts he gave you as he flew you to your date destination.

As he flew, you watched the sky before you and realized the glasses were a big help. The wind wasn't forcing you to shut your eyes and they were drying out the the point of tears. The hood was helpful in keeping your ears warm and the sound of the wind beating didn't hurt. You didn't think they would make this much of a difference, but it showed. You hugged Hawks as a thanks, and you felt his hand on your back gently rub you.

"Thank you for everything Keigo," you shout over the wind.

"What was that, Songbird?" He shouts back.

"Thank you for everything Keigo!!"

"What?!"

"Thank yo—," you try shouting again, but he gives you a quick peck on the cheek.

"I'm just teasing. I heard you," he says with a cheeky grin. "I'm glad you like the gifts."

You wanted to complain about the damn little joke he made, but you were a bit flustered from the small kiss. His damned, cute smile made you feel like you still had that unspoken crush on him all over again. You hid yourself in his jacket and let out a sigh of defeat knowing he'll always make you feel this way.

When Hawks slowed to a stop and carefully put you down, you realized you were at the top of a hill. Hawks sat down on the grass and pat the spot next to him. You sat down beside him and he threw his arm over your shoulders to pull you down with him. You and Hawks fell to your backs as you used his arm as a pillow.

"What are we doing here?" You asked as you turned over to face him.

"Look up," he replied without looking at you. He was smiling at the sky, and the fading sun gave him a glow that made you think the sun was blessing his features.

You looked up and you can see the stars beginning to appear through the sun's brilliant shine. With each passing second, the stars began to twinkle and shine brighter than the second before. It wasn't a sight you often saw in the city, what with all its lights.

You looked back at Hawks to see him smiling endearingly at you.

"I found this spot one day when I was working. I thought it would be a nice little surprise for you, do you like it?" He asked as he turned to his side to face you.

"Definitely. Maybe next time we can bring a blanket or two and have a picnic at sundown," you offered the idea.

"A new date spot for us?" He asked excitedly as his wings unfurled to match his mood.

"A gift from me to you," you teased.

"I found it first. It was my gift," he countered childishly.

"I spoke the idea into existence," you retorted.

"I'm pretty sure that was me, Songbird," he replied and pulled you in for a hug.
