"Just you wait, miss. I'll have that money, and if I don't... your fiancee will never have you" said Lord Ffogg.

Then he left Jill alone and returned to Lady Peasoup.

"How's our prisoner?" said Lady Peasoup.

"Vulnerable. She couldn't threaten me if she tried. But no matter. We're still in the clear with Batman. As long as we're in the clear with Batman, we'll succeed in no time" said Lord Ffogg.

Meanwhile, Chad was resting his knee on his hospital bed in Anaheim.

A nurse came in and gave him a glass of water.

"Dr Wells and your wife are checking your ex-rays. They should be with you in a minute" she said rubbing his shoulder.

"Thank you" said Chad quietly.

In the X-ray room, Meg and Jeremy were looking at X-rays of Chad's knee with Dr Rudy Wells.

"Not broken then, Doctor? Are you sure?" said Jeremy.

"It's not broken. But it's still injured very badly. Falling down hardwood stairs can result in a serious injury. In your husband's case, Meg, it did" said Rudy.

"But, Rudy, what did he do? If it's not broken, what is it?" said Meg.

"He tore his ligament" said Rudy.

"What?" Meg whispered.

"The X-rays are proof, honey. He tore it mildly, but it's still serious" said Rudy.

"This is outrageous. First another attack on his favorite place and now he gets a torn ligament" said Jeremy. 

"But we can make it better, right?" said Meg.

"Oh, we can, certainly. But he'll need an operation. It'll be painful for him to endure it and for you two to view it" said Rudy.

"I won't mind the pain. Anything to get my partner back on his feet" said Jeremy.

"Well, what does your partner's wife say?" said Rudy.

"I say the same. Well, I admit, I'd mind the pain, but I don't want my husband in pain" said Meg.

"Good. Now, you two go tell him. I'll get my team ready" said Rudy.

Meg and Jeremy went to Chad's room to do as told.

"Well?" said Chad.

"You didn't break your knee, lad" said Jeremy.

"Well, that's good" said Chad.

"But you did tear a ligament. And that's worse than a break. Rudy said you need surgery" said Meg.

Chad stiffened at those words. He looked at his knee and let his heart pound.

Meg kissed his cheek and said "You'll be fine."

"I won't know that unless you perform the operation, luv" said Chad.

"I can't. I don't wanna hurt you" said Meg.

Now she was crying a little. She tried not to, but Chad still saw the tears in her eyes.

He cupped her face in his hands and gently dried her tears with his thumbs. Jeremy put his hand on Meg's shoulder to comfort her.

"I'm so sorry, Chad. I just can't stand being the catalyst of worse pain for you" said Meg.

"You're no pain to me, Meg. Just the sight of you heals me, sweet" said Chad lovingly.

Rudy came in and said "Chad. It's time."

Meg gave her husband one last kiss then helped him up and into the operating room.
