Chapter 8: Unfortold events

(Hello everyone, I am back)

The closer she had a walk to the mysterious man that was well draped with his black cloth. The anticipation fills the crowd as they watch her movement and this bold man very carefully. Some even back off slowly when they saw the man kneeling onto his knees paying his respect. At last, she kneels below him. Her hand is placed on his shoulder as she looks at him calmly without questions or anger.

(Yes, I know this is a character from the Untamed. And yes I am very addicted to Untamed. Just pretend he's Meng Shao :/)

"Then tell me, kind stranger, why can't I?" She asked him. "Is Queen Jiuge too much for you? Or are you jealous that in front of you is no longer the princess you met in FanYin Gu?"

He pauses at his jokes as he looks at her. His mysterious side had disappeared as he smiles at her.

"How did you know?" He asked her as he looks at her. "Queen Jiuge, I-"

Feng Jiu smiles as she helps him up as patted him on his shoulder. Before he knew it, she jumps herself towards him, wrapping her arms around him.

"Meng Shao, you almost scared me to death! I thought something was going on."

He laughs quietly as Feng Jiu then pulls out her hand for him. The small relief was left in the crowd.

"When did you come back?" Feng Jiu asked him.

"After you and Dijun were stuck in the pagoda, I found my way back." Meng Shao then recalls to her. "Although I am a little confused about how I got back."

"That's good that you're back. Does Jielu knows?" Feng Jiu proceed to ask him.

"Yes, your majesty Jiuge. She knew about a week ago." Meng Shao said with a smile.

"Queen Bai Feng Jiu of Qing Qiu hope that the Biyi birds of FanYin Gu would remain good friends to Qing Qiu." He said with a smile. "And you almost choke me."

Seeing how she had changed so much when he had first seen her, he reaches for her hand and shakes it. Before bowing his head lowers to her.

"Prince Meng Shao of the Biyi birds of FanYin Gu thank you her Majesty Queen of Qing Qiu for her kind blessing. May the Biyi and the fox clans have a good relationship for many more years."

She smiles again as she slightly bowed at him.

Before returning to her seat next to Dijun she lets out a long sigh as he grabbed onto her hand and looks at her. Dijun didn't like how Meng Shao had almost gotten away with it. He would have gladly shown his sword and protected his wife.

"What was that?" He asked her. "How did you know that was the Prince Meng Shao of FanYin Gu?"

Feng Jiu smiles as she senses his jealousy as she slightly grabbed onto his hand tighter.

"We foxes have excellent memories," She reminded him with a smile before turning to Gun Gun and offering him a cake.

As Feng Jiu sighs as the people came in to give her blessing, she finds it quite tiring. Even A-Li and Gun Gun were getting quite tired as they had a small competition who would eat the most pastries in just a few bites under a few seconds.

"I bet I can eat more than you Gun Gun." A-Li then exclaimed. "I am older than you."

"Oh uh, no A-Li if I can eat my father sweet and sour fish this should be easy." Gun Gun confidently said. "I'm not a little lass like you who tries to avoid your mother's good cooking."

To prevent A-Li from winning Gun Gun had used a small spell his father had taught him to change the flavor specifically in a food one does not like. Gun Gun had changed the sweet pastries to his father's famous sweet and sour fish and had expected A-Li to lose. But no, A-Li did not declare his defeat. Instead, A-Li had continued his bravery win. This action had made Gun Gun admired his friend A-Li a little too much how A-Li didn't complain about the taste at all.

"Look at the children, Ye Hua." Bai Qian said as she leans a little to see Xiao Jiu's son. "Aren't they cute together?"

"Yes." Ye Hua's voice whispered towards her ears. "When are you going to have more cubs. I heard Donghua and my niece are expecting."

Bai Qian gave a small smirk at her husband's trickery words as she had refused to answer. Her face instantly turned to a pinkish color before turning towards her husband and muttered: In good times.

If there was one thing the royal family in Qing Qiu hated the most was a long celebration. People would lie up for miles just to talk with the Queen. Even Feng Jiu's old classmates only dared to come to her reminding her of the days where she would create trouble or the days when she would beat them. They took this chance to flatter her heart for the last time.

"Your majesty Feng Jiu, if I remembered back then you were very naughty and isn't very good at your studies. Today it is a pleasure to see you in person." They would say. To Feng Jiu, their words were nothing but a bribe, and a sense of jealousy of she had swoop Dijun's heart.

"Ah, if I remembered carefully you lost to me in one of the battles. Which one was it again, I can't remember." Feng Jiu would reply as she closes her eyes scratching her temple. "If you want, I will wait for your invite. Although my husband and my son won't be please with my long disappearance."

And just like that, a sentence would send them off running. Even for their time of seperation, Dijun had noticed a small difference in his wife. She was becoming more like her Aunt, her words were too sharp. Even her posture had looked too much like Bai Qian how Feng Jiu would hold the fan and slightly wave it making her look intimidating yet graceful. Yet still inside of her lies the personalities he knew the best when he caught her trying not to laugh loudly when she uses her magic to prank on Siming.

The whole time while seating Feng Jiu had to sneak in a small paintbrush with some ink and paper. She would draw silly pictures before sending the paper sticking on people's backs. So far Dijun had noticed how Lian Song have a bear on his back and some flowers. Siming had a turtle on his back. But eventually, she had to stop fearing that it would leave a bad image of herself. However, she couldn't sit still as the ceremony was extremely long and boring. Feng Jiu would try to prevent herself from yawning when she grips her skirt tighter pinching herself. Whenever she does, Dijun would grab her hand and held it for a long time until Feng Jiu was a force to stand up and bow to the rulers she would work together in the future.

✤✤✤✤

After the long ceremony, finally, it was time for the small celebration in the fox den. To celebrate Feng Jiu for being the new Queen of Qing Qiu, Dijun had invited all her friends, even the males, to come over to meet her.

The celebration was filled with her closest people that Dijun and Feng Jiu have known. There were many dishes that Dijun himself had a cook that people tried to avoid.

Two days before the Queen ceremony, Dijun had taken Gun Gun with him as he visited Yan Chiwu who was caught secretly with the Queen of FanYin Gu Jielu. He had been busy bragging to Jielu how he had fought for a while with Miao Luo. It had changed Jielu's mind about Yan Chiwu being a fool after all. They were enjoying some pastries together before bouncing on their knees to greet him. Ever since his wife had offered Jielu to stay in the fox den while FanYin Gu is getting clean up, Yan Chiwu would be there every night. Sometimes he would barge in while Dijun was having the family meal and would eat with them. He would eat all the food Xiao Bai had made for Dijun.

Of course, to make his wife happy Dijun had to allow Yan Chiwu there to eat with them. He had felt that Yan Chiwu had become a bad influence on little Gun Gun ever since he made a comment if Gun Gun want to get some young fairies he should learn from him and not from his father if Gun Gun wants to stay forever alone.

"Uh, Ice Face can't you tell me ahead of time when you're going to meet me?" Yan Chiwu would always say as Dijun would appear out of nowhere at times.

"Hello, Uncle Yan Chiwu!" Gun Gun would exclaim as he waved his hand. "How are you doing? I didn't know you were in love. Should Father lord and I come a different time?"

"No." Yan Chiwu said as he patted him on the head. He was glad that Gun Gun have been more relaxing around him compared to the first time they had met each other. The first time Gun Gun and Yan Chiwu met was when his mother was still in a coma. Yan Chiwu would make fun of Gun Gun how he was too tense like his father. And should loosen up if he wanted any girls in the future. This however made Gun Gun furious and requested a battle with Uncle Yan Chiwu. To this day, Gun Gun still awaited his invitation.

Every time Gun Gun would ask, Yan Chiwu would point his finger on Gun Gun's forehead.

"You're smaller than a pea. How can I fight you." Yan Chiwu would always say. "When you're taller than you're father we'll fight."

"By that time, you'll be old." Gun Gun would add that would make the demon lord frown a bit.

"Old? Hell to you." He would mutter behind his breath. "Nothing like Xiao Jiu at all."

Clearing his throat Yan Chiwu then asked. "Uh, what are you doing here?"

"Did you make Xiao Jiu sick again!" Yan Chiwu then declared before letting Donghua speak. "If you make her sick or sad again, I will beat you to death!"

"Xiao Bai, have been stress in her upcoming days for being the Queen of Qing Qiu. I invite you as her husband for a...celebration." Dijun then said as he clears his throat and broadens his shoulder. "And I..."

"You what?" Yan Chiwu asked as he leans closer to Dijun that made him bounce back a little bit. "Don't be shy Donghua do tell."

As Dijun push his son back a little he stands up straight and continued to clear his throat. "And I wanted to say thank you for saving us."

"No problem." Yan Chiwu said as he patted him on his shoulder. "Xiao Jiu's friend is my friend too. You were a little heavy to lift with a little help from Lian Song we got you home in no time."

"Yes." Dijun blushed a little bit. "Xiao Bai told me to cut on the sweet nowadays since I've been asking too much of her."

As Jielu clears her throat and shakes her head as she pushes Yan Chiwu aside she nodded her head and bow politely at Dijun.

"Thank you Dijun." She said brightly with a smile. "Xiao Yan and I will come. May I asked if we bring along a guest?"

"Of course," Dijun said with a smile before turning his back and wave at Yan Chiwu. "So long."

As they get out of the fox den Dijun gave Gun Gun a small push on the head that made Gun Gun rolled his eyes as he tried to kick his father.

"You didn't have to come along," Dijun said as he rolled his eyes regretting he had taken his son along. "You could stay if you want. I saw you enjoying the scenery here."

Dijun quietly glazed at his son. Earlier when he was talking, Gun Gun sits down on the green grasses and began to play with it. He plucks a few fresh kinds of grass to feed it to the tiny caterpillars. Even though Gun Gun had well resembled his father, his mother's trait for loving nature was clear as water.

"But Father Lord you ask me." Gun Gun said with a smile before leaping into his father's arm as a small white fox. "And besides I like companying you."

"Is that so?" Dijun asked him as he patted him on the head before placing Gun Gun on his head. "Lead the way. We'll be visiting your godfather and Godmother."

"A party?" Lian Song asked as he slaps his fan hard on his hand and smile. "Donghua I must say Qing Qiu do you bad."

"Don't blacken my wife's home," Dijun said with a small glare before adding more to his words. "Qing Qiu is also my home."

"Just a joke." Lian Song said as he was playing go with Siming and Cheng Yu who was watching very carefully before she came to talk with the little Gun Gun for a while.

"Donghua, to be honest, I can't have the slightest idea of you hosting a party." Lian Song then declares. He couldn't imagine how much Dijun had changed ever since he had cross paths with that little fox.

"I also recall you as a God who stays away from the celebration of some sort. " Lian Song then spoke as he rubs his face a little. "You really do anything to make her happy don't you."

"What? Do you have concerns regarding it?" Dijun then asked. "Wouldn't you do the same for Cheng Yu if she was unhappy?"

"Sure we'll come." Lian Song said with a smile. "Won't you Siming."

"Oh yes!" Siming said with a small voice as he looks down at the Go board. "If Dijun asked I will come."

"And what will you and her majesty be serving?" Siming asked calmly with a small sign of regret. "Is Dihou cooking or-"

"Nothing much," Dijun replied back to him. "Since it is surprised for Xiao Bai, I will do the honors cooking for the guest."

At this moment, Lian Song gritted his teeth together and let out a small cough as an excuse.

"Donghua, have you ever thought Feng Jiu sugar coat your culinary skill?"

Placing down another piece Dijun then looks at Lian Song while propping his hand on the table.

"Did I came at the wrong time that you started to bash my wife?"

"Actually, I heard she's been teaching you?" Lian Song quickly then switches the topic. "You're cooking has improved right?"

"Good," Dijun said as he came closer to the game of Go and leans down before shaking his head. "You have gotten rusty Lian Song."

Anger at Donghua he smacks him hard on the shoulder before backing off to waver his fan-like he always did.

"Without your teaching and guidance, I'm afraid I have forgotten how."

"Really? Then 3rd prince do you mind sitting down for a small game with me?" Dijun then asked him as he saw Siming standing up offering him a sit. He then wavered his hand and the Go board went clean.

"Of course. Like always you'll beat me and complain about how bad of a player I am." Lian Song said as he sat down looking at the black pieces and smile at Donghua who places his hand on the table and his head leaning on it. He gave out a small intimidating looking like he always did with a small smile as he watches carefully at Lian Song like prey as he places his piece.

"Good move," Dijun said with a smile as he sits up a little taller and begins to move the pieces. At this moment Gun Gun who was talking about his days and sharing his worries with his Godmother ran as he saw his father playing a game of Go. He then jumps on his father's lap and stares intensely at the game pieces in curiosity at each move. His curious eyes lower down at how it works and how Lian Song had moved and how his father had moved. From afar Lian Song had given a smile how similar the young Gun Gun had look to his father the way he had stared at the board.

"Gun Gun, do you mind moving my next piece?" Dijun asked calmly whispered to his son's ear. Though it was the first time Gun Gun had play Go he stares down for a minute before picking up the white pieces and places them down diagonally to Lian Song. This moved however stump Lian Song as he leans in closer.

"Oh! I will move it!" Gun Gun said as he was about to grab it which please Lian Song before his father stopped him. "Sorry, I-"

"No my little Gun Gun, that was a good move. A bold one." His father said with a small kiss on his head. "A good Go player never hesitate on his move."

"Your father is right." Lian Song said as he stretches his hand across the table to Gun Gun waiting for him to shake it. "I resign."

"Damn, I lost to this little lass." Lian Song's mouth quivered as he covered it with his fan. "Is like looking at another Donghua."

"Hey, I heard that." Gun Gun then said with a huff as he turned to the other side crossing his arms. "Godfather Lian Song, you're no good at Go either. I heard the other day you lost to Uncle Yan Chiwu."

"You-" Lian Song then pauses he found it rather improper to curse in front of Donghua never the less his son.

Before Gun Gun had to shake it he looks at his father who nodded his head allowing him to shake it.

"You're a good player Gun Gun." Lian Song said with a bright smile and tapped him on the head. "Do you mind playing one game with me?"

"I don't know how it works. I fear I might disappoint you, Godfather." Gun Gun muttered under his breath at the sight of a blank board. "I only watch a little bit."

"That's alright," Dijun said to him. "If you need help, I will help you."

He took a deep breath before reaching in the small basket reaching out for the small black pieces and places them on the table.

"I like to give it a try." Gun Gun said with a small smile. The game was quite intense as Dijun looks at it. Each of his son's moves although it wasn't compared to him was quite bold and quick. Dijun had thought his son was quite talented like him. In the end, after 10 games, Lian Song had withdrawn and returned to his room. As Dijun carried Gun Gun on his shoulder he smiles.

"Good job today Gun Gun!" Dijun said as he was taking him home. "How did you learn Go."

"When I was in the mortal realm, my teacher did. I would sneak out to watch people play sometimes. There were good players and bad players. I stand there and watch it all." Gun Gun said with a smile as he recalls him going through all the tournament of Go there was in the mortal realm. It was his small secret that he didn't want his mother to know fearing she would be sad he chooses to game over his studies.

"How fascinating." His father exclaimed to him. "And you learn by watching?"

"No, I was interested in it when I saw one of the games. My teacher was there playing it. And at that time I used to beg him to teach me."

"So you learn Go from him?" Dijun asked him.

"Yes, I did."

"I can teach you more ways to play the game in the future," Dijun said as they were arriving at the fox den and lifted Gun Gun down before grabbing his son's hand and running through the den.

"Xiao Bai!" He calls her. His voice echos the fox den which made her worried as she ran out quickly to only see his smile.

"What happened? You all smile." Feng Jiu said as she scoops down to her son and hugged him before kissing her husband. It was rather unexpected at times. How Dijun and Gun Gun would bond together without her knowing. It was something Feng Jiu had worries the most when she wakes up from her sleep that their father and son relationship would be tainted.

"Did you and Gun Gun beat someone?" Feng Jiu then asked the 2 of them.

"Our son is brilliant at Go did you know that! He beat Lian Song 11 times today!" Dijun's voice was filled with joy as he said his words. "He's a bright boy for his age."

"Really?" Feng Jiu asked as she carried her son in her arms. "Gun Gun tell me all about it."

It had made Gun Gun very happy as he tells his grandparents about the story during the party. They all laughs and cried as they pat down on his head. Even his uncle A-Li was a little jealous as he rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.

"No need to brag Gun Gun." He would mutter. "We all know you take your father's shameless trait. While I take on my father-"

"Last time you brag how great you were at fishing last time." Gun Gun then bounce it back on him. "I was quiet when you were bragging about yourself. What makes my story any different?"

"Gun Gun, A-Li." Bai Yi then deepens his voice a little. "A man does not brag too much about himself. Too much ambition is bad for the heart. Understand.

"Yes, grandfather." They said together before glaring at each other and sticking their little tongue out.

"Gun Gun, how have you been with your studies?" Bai Yi then asked him. "Is your mother teaching you well?"

"She has." Gun Gun said as he nodded his head. "She taught me very well when we were in the mortal realm and still today."

"And what has she been teaching you? You do know when your mother was young she never excels in any of her studies." Bai Yi then said as he drinks a little of the wine. "She was very naive.."

"My mother is not naive." Gun Gun then muttered underneath his breath. "She's more than that."

"What has she taught you?" Bai Yi then asked as he leans in closer. "To hunt?"

"No, mother taught me that a good man never talks behind a person's back. He must not spit on their good nature. He is composed and keep it to himself." Gun Gun then replied. "Mom taught me very well. How to be independent."

To Bai Yi surprised they paused for a second as they look at the little Gun Gun at how well-spoken he was.

"Has she?" Feng Jiu's mom then asked him. "Your mother taught you well. But Gun Gun do you know who you are?"

"Who am I?" Before Gun Gun had asked the question Feng Jiu had came and grabbed his hand warning her parents it was enough. She then took him to meet some of her friends.

"Gun Gun, this is Uncle Ye Qing Ti." Feng Jiu then said to him. "He saved me in the mortal realm many years ago."

Feng Jiu didn't ask him to pay for his respect as Gun Gun kneel and bow at him. It had made her proud as she felt she raised her son very well.

"Gun Gun, how about you go on. I will be talking with Uncle Ye Qing Ti a little bit alright." Feng Jiu then said to him as her eyes look directioning Qing Ti to go outside so she can talk privately with him.

They had walked a long distance away from the fox den to a beautiful scenery where there was a wooden pavilion. There Feng Jiu and Ye Qing Ti stare at the softly flowing river at night. Though they can barely see it, they know the water was clear and luminated the moonlight that was reflected on it. The Queen of Qing Qiu took a deep breath thinking about what she was about to say next.

"Your Majesty." Qing Ti then breaks the silence. "I've been meaning to ask you something."

"I have too." Feng Jiu then interrupted him. "But go on."

"What your relationship and mine in the mortal realm?" He asked softly. "Why did you saved me with the pimpon fruit?"

Feng Jiu had on a smile as she plucks the flowers from a nearby pot and began to pick the white petals to the water. It had reminded her too much of the past again.

"Qing Ti, you saved me in the mortal realm. And to repay your debt I saved you with the pimpon fruit. You don't need to know how I did it." Feng Jiu then reminded him. "You don't need to repay me at all as all was repay already. And you don't need to force yourself to remember the past."

"Then your majesty is asking me to-"

"Don't go research the mortal realm fate we both have. Don't ask Lian Song about the pimpon fruit. If you do, then I fear you will regret it." Feng Jiu stated her mind clear to him. "I heard Donghua gave you a job in Taichen Gong. I just wanted to tell you let's have a fresh start."

"Your Majesty, Dijun had told me to keep away from you." Qing Ti mentioned to her. "But offered me a place in Taichen Gong. If your majesty does not wish so, I will leave."

"I fell in love with one man in my life and no one else." She remarks to him. "I wanted you to be Gun Gun's steward."

"What?" Qing Ti's voice then breaks a little. "But Gun Gun doesn't he have Zhong Li. Although I am the second steward in Taichen Gong-"

"Dijun have Zhong Li and me. I have Mi Gu." Feng Jiu then snickered a little. "And besides you'll be great with Gun Gun that's all I have to say."

"I will honor your majesty!" Qing Ti then said with a bow. "Should I tell Dijun?"

"No, he told me to tell you." Feng Jiu said with a smile. "Now go. I want to be alone here for a while."

The breeze and the moon had made Feng Jiu happy as it calms her state of mind. She kept on looking at her hand that had the ring made from Dijun's heart. It made her recall so many memories of them together. How they first met and how they were now. At night Dijun would embrace her in his arms. And in the morning he would give her a small kiss on her forehead. Throughout the day they would bump into each other.

And in the afternoon he would take her to view the garden. The flowers had bloom quite nicely in his home and his patient was as flowy as the river till it in full bloom before he takes her. There were many places he had dreamt of taking her during their 200 years of seperation. He had heard once from High God Zhe Yan that his wife loves to travel around the realm and explore the hidden world. He had thought to take her on a trip with the children when times come.

In the immortal realm, no place lacks in beauty and grace. The Nine Heavens was known for its magnificent views at times when the birds flew passed by it but it is too strict in court. Qing Qiu was the best. Earning its beauty for the green mountains and fill with life.

The home of the foxes. It was the place that one can dream of and go to. Of course, there was the high mountain of Khulun where Moyuan resigns with his fellow students. Lastly, what Dijun could think of was his home. The home where no one had walked in other than his family.

"Is my wife enjoying the view?" Dijun then asked her after a long moment of silence as he was in deep thoughts, he saw her looking down at the river attentively.

She turned around to him running to the pavilion hugging her tighter. These days, it had seemed every chance they had gotten Dijun would be wrapped his arms and embrace her so tight she felt like he was going to squeeze her to death. There was one thing Feng Jiu had kept in her heart how she misses her son's hugged and how rare it is to get one. Every chance Gun Gun would try to rush to his mother, his father would take over.

"Ah, Donghua." She said as she held his arms tightly and swing a little.

"Your stomach getting bigger," Dijun said as he kisses her on the cheek. "Do you think is a boy or a girl?"

"The doctor said it will be a girl." Feng Jiu said to him. "My family said it will be a girl."

"I heard that usually, a mother eats more sour food it will be a boy," Dijun said to her. "But either way a boy or a girl would be fine with me."

"If it is a boy what will you name him?" Feng Jiu asked him. "Have you thought of something yet?"

"I have," Dijun said to her. "I was thinking Bai Shen Hai."

"Shen Hai?" Feng Jiu asked him. "Shen as your shadow?"

"Almost," Dijun responded to her. "I always have a fondness for that name."

"I like it." Feng Jiu then said to him. "Will our children be braved as you and have your wisdom?"

"Yes, but they will have your beauty too," Dijun said to her. At night when Feng Jiu would curl up in his arms, he couldn't help thinking what their children would look like.

"Do you have a name in mind if it is a girl?" Donghua then asked her.

"Bai Xiang Li." Feng Jiu then said to him with a small yawn. "That's the name that I like so far."

"Are you tired?" He then asked her. "Let's go back and rest."

"A little. Can I rest here on your lap?" Feng Jiu then asked him. "The moon is too beautiful here."

"Alright," Donghua said as he sits down letting his wife laying on his lap as she begins to point to the moon and the stars. His hand slowly plays with her long strands of hair as he listens to her talking about the constellation in the sky.

"That right there Cassiopeia." Feng Jiu then said pointing her finger. The Emperor's eyes follow her finger and smile as he looks at it.

"What does it mean?" He asked her. "I didn't expect you to know about the constellation."

"There was a story that said Cassiopeia was a beautiful Queen. She would boast about her beauty and how she was the most beautiful woman in the world. However, her boast anger the God of the Sea." Feng Jiu then uttered to her husband.

"Oh, she can't be more beautiful than you?" Dijun then smirks out loud. He had thought no one was more beautiful than his wife alone. He can't imagine a woman more beautiful than his wife.

"No one is more beautiful than my wife," Dijun added sweet words that tingle her ears that made her giggle a little bit making her admit she was beautiful only second to her Aunt.

"My aunt would take me here and said although I am beautiful, I must not brag." She had recalled when she was a small little cub whenever her Aunt and her would sleep under the starry night. It was Cassiopeia that stands out to her the most. Feng Jiu had spent days searching what that star was but she never gave up. Sometime in her early youth, Bai Qian had finally told her the tale after she was caught sneaking out of class using her fox-like form. It was just too much for her teacher to bear when he saw Feng Jiu in her cute form. Afterward, Feng Jiu had lured in a pretty good number of young immortals always finding their way to talk to her.

Just like the first night, Feng Jiu had remembered her first time seeing the Cassiopeia there was a small gush of winds that brought chills to her spine. Her first night after seeing it, Feng Jiu was rather sick. But this time it was different. She could feel the Emperor slowly removing his robe and places around her body like a blanket. Suddenly the cool breezy night had felt like a warm summer.

A few days ago, Feng Jiu was thinking to sew Dijun a robe that he can wear around the fox den since it was pretty cold year-round. During her free time, Feng Jiu would secretly hide from her husband that she was learning how to sew. Though her needlework wasn't good, it had improved a lot.

"Donghua, aren't you cold?" She asked him as her eyes look up upon his.

"A little." The Emperor replied as he shivers a little bit. "But I like the cold air."

At that moment, Feng Jiu had recalled once when they were in FanYin Valley how Dijun originally said to her he was afraid of the cold before fooling her.

"Then put your coat back on!" His wife angerily replied as she sits up trying to force her husband to put back on his outer coat but he wouldn't budge. He had moved too much that it was impossible to put it on.

"What should I do to make you put your coat on?" She finally asked in defeat as she sat on his lap. "Make you pastries?"

"Kiss me." Dijun slyly said as he leans into her lips a little bit more with his eyes closed. He had expected her to push him away but she didn't. Her lip quickly touches his before bouncing back as she lays onto his lap. Her arms cross tightly as she didn't have the heart to look at him.

The Emperor had a quiet smirk on his face as he slightly brushes through her hair with his hands again before leaning close to her.

"Don't fuss, is just a robe. If you're tired then sleep. Don't worry about me. Is not cold tonight." His voice was softly spoken to her like the wind. It was the lullaby to her heart that made her eyes heavy closing it. In no less than a second, he could see her snoring quietly and the calmness in her soul. The Emperor then leans back a little placing his hand behind his back as his eyes look at that star constellation again. In his head, he had tried to imagine what Cassiopeia had looked like. But he couldn't. All he had seen was an image of his wife. His Dihou was different than Cassiopeia. She was more than just beautiful. She was brave and wise.

"Stopped looking at Cassiopeia..." The Emperor then hears her soft muttered in her sleep. Even in her sleep, Feng Jiu could feel Dijun's curious glaze when he kept looking at that strange star constellation. In her head, she knew Dijun was faithful to her but deep inside she was a little jealous of how Dijun had shifted his attention.

Since she didn't have much strength to raises her hand, she softly whispered a threat to him. "If you keep looking at her...I will beat you..."

"I'm not looking at her. I am looking at you." Dijun proudly replied to her. However, there was no response. The wind had gotten a little stronger. Fall was almost here. Carefully he lifted his wife in his hand while still having his regal purple robe wrapped around her body. He had the fear that the cold weather would make her sick. As he heard from the book he was reading how pregnant women were prone to illness. He was thinking tomorrow morning, he would make a delicious porridge and his famous sweet and sour fish. And perhaps he would invite Lian Song over too since they will be working on building their house in the Blue Sea.

However, his thoughts paused as the Emperor had known this scent from before. He didn't even dare to look up to know it was his sister Zhi He in his path. Zhi He had looked different from before. Wearing a white robe around her body and her blue robe that she stills wear. Despite this, her face was filled with envy as she saw Feng Jiu in the Emperor's arms. How she had envied her.

When Zhi He had heard Qing Qiu had a celebration on Feng Jiu becoming the Queen, she had to come for herself. Forcing Mi Gu to get out of her way and letting her enter. However, Mi Gu didn't let her based on Feng Jiu's orders how strangers weren't allowed to enter Qing Qiu without the Queen's approval. If it wasn't for Yan Chiwu and Jielu who had pitied her without knowing who she was to let her enter. They had felt Dijun was too cruel to his sister without understanding or knowing the pass sequence.

Once Zhi He was allowed in, she ran into the fox den to see Feng Jiu wasn't there nor was Dijun. However Zhi He could sense the sandalwood anywhere and began to follow it. But once she arrived to find her foster brother holding his Dihou in his arms, there was a pain in her heart when she cries out to him.

"Foster brother." She then calls him before switching to call him Dijun. Hoping to get a verbal response but she didn't. All Zhi He had gotten was the cold shoulder Dijun had given to her.

The Emperor pays no attention to his sister and kept on walking.

"Foster brother." She calls him again.

"What is it?" He stops in his track without turning back. "I should head back. The breeze is strong. My wife is tired. If you have any message for me, I fear you will have to ask my wife."

"Foster brother!" She called him again however this time Dijun was nowhere to be found. He had already taken Feng Jiu back to his place Taichen Gong and places her down on the bed tucking her in and giving a kiss on her forehead.

"Good night, Xiao Bai."

My heart is whole again when I'm with you.

Thank you so much for reading it and it is deeply appreciated!

Hey everyone, thank you so much for reading today. And my deepest apologies for not updating so often. I've been very busy with school work. Mainly for my literature class. I am so busy writing so many essays and doing peer reviews. And because of doing so many essays and peer reviews my writing recently sounds too formal. Formal as in essay loll.  But don't worry I've been doing a lot of DongFeng stories but haven't published it yet.

Again please be patient with my slow updates and my deepest apologies for not doing a great job at doing it. The second semester is usually less stressful. I actually have another DongFeng story in mind and working on it. I plan on releasing it sometime next year :D

I am glad to say I passed all my finals. With intense studying, large endorsement of caffeine, and sleeping in the afternoon. And my band concert went well. Although it was very long :///
