Chapter 4: A strong bond for life

The week had flown by quickly as Feng Jiu was sitting down brushing her hair as she was wearing on her gown. As the hairpin was placed on her hair and a little dab of makeup she looks in the mirror and touches her birthmark. Leaving a slight glow on it.

"Finally." She muttered underneath her breath. "I'm going to married you today."

Touching the ring Dijun has given to her she places it back on her thumb and her lips softly touch it as she kisses it.

"Dihou." A voice calls out to her as hse turns around to see Zhong Lin formally dressed as he bowed to her. "Is ready."

Feng Jiu smiles as she touches her heart feeling the beats that thump down slowly through it. She turns around and walked to Zhong Lin.

"I'm ready," Feng Jiu said to him. "Thank you for everything."

He bows to her response. And was please that his Lord and her Majesty were happy with his preparation. Even the wedding invitation was out to the 4 seas and the 8 desserts to see as they were all excited about the celebration. Sitting down, they awaits for the bride and groom to arrive.

Looking down to the bells that Dijun have given to her, she places it on her robe and places the red veil on her head. Hiding her beauty.

The door opening as she could hear the upbeat yet joyful music. Although she couldn't see the preparation, she had known Dijun had done it well. Perhaps it was a little too grand for her taste but she was happy. The blurry sight of the man with the white hair in a red gown awaits for her as he lets out his hand.

Although his attire had changed, there was a small hint of his signature purple on his robe. Coming to him, she places her hand onto his as he finally held her hand.

"Xiao Bai ~" He calls for her.

Looking at the gown she was wearing had made his heart skips a beat as she came closer and closer to him. Zhong Lin has prepared well.

"Donghua ~" She replied to her name being called.

All her life since she was a young cub, was to dream of getting married. Married a person she loves the most in her life. Start a brand new life and have many children. Today was the happiest day of her life.

"Finally I'll be with you eternally," Dijun whispered underneath his breath as he saw her dressed in the most beautiful gown he had sewn and made for her. All the headpieces she had worn on her head was made with great care and love by his hand.

The gowns Dijun had worn were made by Feng Jiu and the scarf that he has worn on his neck was made from bits from her red fox tailed. As the 2 looks at the crowds and the cheers of the Nine Heavens and Qing Qiu they smile among each other.

Turning around as they place their glasses of wine high in the air they cross their arms as they drank the sips of wine before speaking their words of blessing.

"Long live the groom!" Long live the bride!" They could hear the crowd speaking as all bowed to their feet.

As Dijun turns to her, he reaches for her red veils and opens it to see her beautiful face with rosy lips smiling at him.

As Feng Jiu's mother cried and hugged her husband.

"Ah~ our Xiao Jiu is married at last!" She cried into her husband's side.

"Ah yes, I can't believe she married him." Bai Yi said as he rolled his eyes. "I still despise him!"

"Dear!" Feng Jiu's mom said.

"Oh, grandmother and grandfather don't like my father?" A quiet voice then echos. When they look below their feet was a small boy with black hair as he turns to them and scratches his head.

"Isn't my father the emperor of the Universe. I thought everyone would like him?" Gun Gun said. "I don't understand why I can't be up there."

Seeing the young boy's presence Feng Jiu's mother and father gasp as they look at him.

"That's a little petty." Bai Yi asked as he looks at the young boy. "And you are?"

"Bai Gun Gun!" The young boy said with a smile.

The glares on Feng Jiu's mother looks at him as she kneels to his side.

"Bai Gun Gun?" She asked him. "How come I never met you before?"

"Because mommy and I spent our times in the mortal realm." Gun Gun said to his grandparents.

Hugging the little boy they stroke his back and touches his face. They smile as they carried him in their arms.

"Your father and mother are something." Feng Jiu's mother said as she carried the little boy. "How about we go and explore. Grandfather and I know a great place."

For most of the afternoon and evening, Gun Gun had sat down in the fox den and play with his Great Grandfather Bai Zhi a game of chess. And had won every time they had a play. While his grandparents and thrown in many sweets and treats for him trying to bribe him into talking.

However, since Dijun had taught him what to say on the day of the wedding he chooses to keep his mouth shut so he can sleep with his mother.

"Gun Gun, you look like your mother the best!" His grandmother said as he sat on her lap and chew on a few of the ginger candies. "Look at your eyes and nose! Surely is your mother's best feature!"

"No, I look like a father." He responded to it and touches his hair. "Father lord force me to dye my hair black before the wedding."

Gun Gun had well recalled the night prior before the wedding as he decided to stay with his mother overnight before his father had stolen him away from her side and brough him to the kitchen. Dijun had sat him on the counter and got out the black dye.

"Father Lord!" Gun Gun exclaimed as he looks at the dye.

"Shh." Dijun hushes him. "Is best if we act first and explained later."

Placing the dye on his son's hair, Dijun carefully dyes it and smiles at his son as he touches him softly on the face moving it around to check any spots he had a miss. Before he claps his hand and tap onto his son's head.

Crossing his hand he pouted a little at his father.

"I thought is normal for all young fairies to have this." Gun Gun added. "Mommy wouldn't be allowed you to do this!"

"Hm," Dijun responded to his son. "What about the mortal realm?"

"That's different!" Gun Gun exclaimed. "Mortal realm and fairy realm is different."

"How so?" Dijun has asked him as he focuses on dyeing each part carefully.

"Father Lord, are you scare?" Gun Gun asked him as he saw his father cleaning the area up a little.

"What am I scare off?" He asked his son. "Other than being afraid of your mom, I have nothing to fear."

"Mommy said people are always afraid to make a first impression." Gun Gun added to his father. "Father Lord, are you nervous about the wedding?"

Dijun smiles as he patted his son on the head.

"A little." He said to him. "Maybe because I'm too excited."

Hugging his father, Gun Gun smiles as he patted his dad on the back.

"Father Lord, I would be too if I married one day!" Gun Gun exclaimed.

Dijun smiles as he looks at his son.

"You thought about getting married?" He asked his son. "Don't be like me and stay single for a long time."

Before Dijun has met that lively fox of Qing Qiu, he had known that he have caught many young hearts that have seen him. But none have caught his eyes as his wife has. Mischievous and even tried to avoid him several times. She has her ways of showing her love mysteriously.

"I'm a little hungry. Can you cook me something?"

Dijun nodded as he walks to the stow to make a delicious meal for the 2 to share. Tonight Dijun had made Gun Gun some delicious soup he had to learn from a cooking book he had found. And even squeeze some fresh lemons with ginger. As the father and son bond over a small meal, they laugh with each other.

Placing some food in his son's bowl he patted him on the head.

"Gun Gun, this is good for you." He said to him.

Placing it in his mouth Gun Gun smiles as he tastes his father's food.

"Father lord! Food is the best!" He yells out loud.

"Which one do you think is better?" Dijun then asked him. "Your mother's cooking or mine?"

Gun Gun pauses as he thought about it for a while.

"In terms of pastries then mommy is better. But in terms of cooking fish, yours is good. In terms of varieties of cooking mommy is better." Gun Gun said to him wisely.

Dijun laughs as he blushed a little due to his son's nifty words.

Watching afar was Feng Jiu as she wore on her cape. She smiles with joyful tears in her eyes as she turns around.

"Your majesty." Her servant called for her.

"Let's go, I've seen enough tonight." Feng Jiu said as she walks back to her home. Sitting down she smiles as she looks at the complete sketch Dijun and her had drew together for their future home. Even little Gun Gun have gives a hand as he wants a small pond to himself so he can fish with his father.

Dijun had wanted a small balcony where he can see the scenery while reading his scripture.

Of course, the Bai family had wanted their home to be grand yet simple enough so they can invite their friends over. They had planned outside their home would be a nice spot for a picnic among themself or their friends. Feng Jiu has even decided to plant some seeds in to make the house even lovelier. She smiles as she touches her ring once again as she prepares herself to bed for the bed day.

Although I live my whole life without understanding what love had felt like. I had to try my best to envision if I was love.
