I was so disappointed

AN: I'm finally writing the last chapter (it's a couple of chapters after this) and I am having major writer's block oh man. But omg The Agony of a Witch episode?? Bro I cried.

I hope you feel happy
That's all I want
That's all I want

A couple classes later and school was finally over. Luz was actually excited, which surprised her. It has been a wild 24 hours so some fun should be, well, fun! And, of course, get her mind off some things. She spotted the Blight twins outside the front doors waiting for her.

"Hey, Emira! Edric!" Luz called out as she ran towards them.

"Luz!" Emira called out as Luz arrived.

"So, what's the plan?"

"You'll see, but, first, we're going to get something to eat. Someone has been whining about food for the past twenty minutes."

"It's not my fault you don't eat!" Edric complained. "You can go a whole day just eating an apple, I don't understand!" Emira shrugged.

"I could eat, I didn't have much for lunch anyways," Luz said, rubbing her rumbling tummy.

"Well, then, come on! I know a great cafe in the square!" Emira grabbed Luz's hand, to which Luz blushed, and pulled her off into town. Little did the trio know, Amity saw the whole encounter when she stepped out.

Mess in the kitchen
I was so disappointed

Amity had a lot to think about on her walk home. Thoughts and questions swarmed her head. What she saw played over and over again.

Luz and the twins? What were they up to? Were the twins plotting something? Amity could have sworn Luz was on edge with them since the whole library incident.

But the one thing that bothered Amity the most? Emira grabbing Luz's hand so casually. That moment especially just kept playing in her head over and over. And the face that Luz made? It was the same face Amity would make when Luz grabbed her hand.

Amity screamed. It scared a bunch of nearby creatures in the forest but it was slightly relieving. She didn't get it. She didn't understand. This isn't her. She was never one to overthink. Especially dumb social situations such as this one. She sighed.

Was this really dumb? She's been thinking about it all night and day so it must be important. All teens have crushes who they think about a lot, right? That's what normal teenagers do. But Amity isn't a normal teenager. She's always felt like she was different from the rest of her generation. She would blame it on her parents for raising her like this but it's at times like these where she thinks it's actually her. She facepalmed.

"Luz doesn't like me," she told herself. "She never did. She probably saw the note and felt sorry for me and thought she was doing a good deed by pretending to reciprocate my feelings towards her. And now she's going out and about with my siblings. She probably likes Emira with the way she was looking at her." Amity sighed. "This isn't fair." She took a deep breath. "I just need to do a calming exercise, tree, leaves, flowers, more trees, cave..."

Amity paused outside the cave and looked inside. She heard familiar voices and saw a very faint green glow. With curiosity taking the best of her, she crept inside and saw three figures, but it was the exchange between two of the figures that made her run out unnoticed.

I guess I got to my head
And I was too young to understand it

"Wow, the Boiling Isles has the best scones I have ever tasted!" Luz exclaimed as she shoved another one in her mouth. The twins chuckled.

"You better slow down with those, or else you'll get a stomach ache," Emira advised.

"Psh, it's fine, I'm Hispanic, we eat every meal like it's our last," Luz said, shoving her last scone in her mouth.

"No idea what that means, but okay!" Edric said.

"So, are you finally gonna tell me where we're going?" Luz asked, looking ahead, only seeing trees and nature. The same stuff they've been seeing for the past half an hour.

"Rumor has it that the bashert stones are coming out," Edric replied.

"What are bashert stones?" Luz asked.

"Bashert stones are these magic rocks that glow when the holder's soulmate is nearby. The stronger the glow, the closer they are," Emira explained.

"They're extremely rare and come out after various amounts of time. They can be hidden anywhere from a few weeks to a few centuries," Edric continued.

"And we heard that a few were spotted in a cave nearby, so we're going to find some," Emira finished.

"Oh, wow, that seems kinda cool! And tame for you guys. What's the catch?" Luz asked, skeptically.

"We're gonna grind them up into sugar and put it in Mittens' tea. If you consume it, you basically get an overwhelming sensation of joy and kindness," Emira explained.

"And we're going to take advantage of it by making her do stuff for us. She's been tattletaling on us a lot lately and I think we all know how much Mittens doesn't like to be happy," Edric said.

"So, are you still in?" Emira asked. Luz pondered this. Sure, she shouldn't let the twins take advantage of Amity in such a vulnerable state but maybe some happiness could do her some good.

"Sure, yeah, yeah, I'm still in!" Luz said. The twins cheered and hugged her. "So, how much further is this cave?"

"Oh, it's right over there." Emira pointed at a seemingly normal cave. Luz was honestly expecting a little more pizazz, but, hey, you take what you can get. "Come on, let's go!" Emira grabbed Luz's hand again, pulling her in.

"Yeah, sure, just leave me." Edric crossed his arms and followed suit.

"Oh calm down you big baby," Emira called out behind her. They continued down in the cave, the dark and musty cave. It just kept getting darker and it was starting to freak Luz out when she realized she was still holding Emira's hand. It comforted her. It was also comforting when Emira noticed how on edge Luz was so she gave her hand a little squeeze.

"So, how will we know when we find it if it's so dark?" Luz asked, trying to fill the dark silence.

"Bashert stones only appear near glowing moss. Convenient, right?" Emira asked.

"Yeah, convenient." A few minutes later, they spotted a faint green light up ahead and gasped in unison. They then all ran up to the source of the glowing light and gasped again at the sight.

"I can't believe we actually found them! And so easily!" Edric squealed. The cave walls seemed to have made a natural platform where the moss sat. The moss was decorated with a few light pink rocks that looked similar to rose quartz. Emira and Edric giggled as they took out a small coin bag and began filling it up with the rocks. Luz, however, was still stunned by the sight. Upon seeing the frozen Luz, Emira took one and held it out to her.

"Here, use it to find your soulmate." Luz looked up at the older teen and saw her genuine smile and wink in the dim green lighting. Luz took the rock to which it glowed and seemed to get brighter and brighter. Her eyes widened in shock and Emira gave her another smile, turning back to her brother to see how many he managed to get.

"Soulmate..." Luz mumbled as she looked back down at the bright glow of the rock. Hearing footsteps, she perked up and turned her head towards the opening of the cave, but quickly shrugged it off as an animal.

I get it now that it's too late
I never stopped feeling guilty

AN: This is honestly a little shorter than I wanted it to be but eh.
