Pranks

[Edited July 11, 2022]

[So, I realize that I have been neglecting the prank war in favor of character development so here are all the pranks that have happened so far. This will not include the ones that I did go into detail about. I will only go over the most notable ones or this chapter will go on forever. Make sure to tell me which ones were your favorites in the comments!]

Damian Vs. Dick

Ok, so many of you probably know how this one goes but here's what happened.

Damian had been quiet all morning. He was more reserved by nature, that was true, but this still was a bit out of the ordinary. So naturally, the brothers expected foul play. They all assumed that he would Prank Jason who was his least favorite brother at the moment (after the whole Centaur incident).

Dick and Tim both thought that they were in the clear, they never suspected that one of them was the target. They had lost as soon as they had begun to let their guard down.

The boys had had a troubling patrol the night before and there were several questions left unanswered. If Nico knew the secret Bruce would be spending the day in the cave trying to figure it out. Though since he didn't, he went to work and asked Dick to do some digging on his own. So while Nico was preoccupied with whatever he was doing (he was talking with Percy on an Iris message in the backyard), Dick snuck off to go do research.

As he sat down, it happened. A loud horn cried out into the silence. He had been pranked. He heard Damian's evil laughter from down the hall. He sighed in defeat and continued his research.

Dick Vs. Tim

My own little spin on the old tradition.

Later that day, Dick felt like pulling a little prank of his own. He pulled a coke out of the fridge clearly labeled 'Drake'.

He smirked evilly as a plan formed in his head. He pulled out a mint mento and some tape and put his plan into action.

First, he took off the cap. Next, he put tape inside the bottle, the tape clung loosely to the cap, holding the mento in place. Tim was always spinning his bottle caps off. The first spin and his coke would explode. He finished his work and put the bottle back in the fridge.

After lunch, Tim opened the bottle just as Dick expected he would. He wasn't paying attention to the bottle at all, talking to Jason. From where Dick sat, he could see the mint drop into the soda. Just as Tim went to take a drink, the carbonated liquid gushed out all over his face and clothes.

Point 1 Dick!

Tim Vs. Dick

Of course, you can't have a bat family prank war without the two hackers going at each other. Tim, still angry about the soda, decided to get even with Dick. He should have realized that his retribution was expected, but he was too caught up in actually completing the plan to think about whether or not he should follow it through.

He figured what better way to get back at him than to trick him into opening a text message with a virus that would make his phone play Tiptoe through the tulips all day at full volume? It was a truly horrible song and the only way Dick would be able to get any peace would be to take the battery out of his phone and have to go without his device.

So, he made it so that his caller I'D was set to Babs and sent Dick a text telling him to go hang out at a nearby park and sent a link to a location. The link would take him to the song that was supposed to play on a 10-hour loop and couldn't be turned down or stopped unless the phone battery was removed.

2 minutes later he got a text back saying that Babs was currently having a girls' day with the other female members of the Young Justice team and that he clearly didn't keep a close enough eye on the other heroes.  Tim hadn't bothered to respond.

Jason Vs. Lights

This one is kinda silly.

So Jason was running out of inspiration for his pranks. He usually would do some gory and violent ones but with Nico around, it wasn't worth the risk. He didn't want to do anything that could make the other boy uncomfortable. Considering he'd apparently watched his family burn in a fire and found his father's body, Jason didn't know what he could or couldn't handle.

So, when his light started to flicker in his bedroom, he got an idea. Immediately, he set his plan into action. By the same time the next day. Every light in the house had been changed to other colors or strobe. Luckily no on in the house had epilepsy (at least not to his knowledge) so no one should get hurt.

Jason being Jason, put mood lighting in the kitchen, pink in Damian's room, blue in Dick's, LEDs in Bruce's, Red in Tim's, and ultraviolet in Nico's. Other rooms he changed at random and it took a week to replace them all and get them all put back together again.

Except for the lights in Nico's lamps, which Nico had decided to leave. They cast cool shadows on the walls and he would be able to use them as crime scene lights if he wanted to.

The bathrooms were the only rooms in the house that had remained safe as per their agreement.

Damian Vs. Everyone

So, Damian didn't have a pranking-oriented mind. That's not saying that he couldn't set a prank up, it just made it harder for him to come up with one. His inspiration came to him one day when Tim wandered all around the manor looking for his shoes. It seemed to be infuriating for him, especially when he found that they had been underneath his bed the entire time.

He decided to hide his other brother's shoes. Every last pair. He couldn't imagine how frustrating it would be for them to all have to hunt down their shoes like Tim had the previous day.

Though he figured it would be better not to tangle with Nico.

One thing that the batfam agreed on was that they did not want to get on Nico's bad side. There was just something about him that made him unapproachable. It wasn't really that he was intimidating, it was more like he set your teeth on edge whenever he stood too close-- like you were expecting something to go wrong but you couldn't understand why.

He would be an interesting new addition to the team, if he ever cracked the code.

When everyone was gone, Dick was with Babs, Jason was off terrorizing humanity, and Tim was probably in the cave scrolling through cold cases. Nico was showering, Bruce was at work, and Alfred was in the kitchen. He could do whatever he wanted, completely uninterrupted.

Dami went to each separate room to find and steal the shoes. Instead of misplacing them, he decided to actually hide them. He ended up hiding them all in Nico's closet. That was going to be interesting. Damian was curious to see how Nico took to being framed.

Turns out, Nico didn't let himself get framed, he took the shoes, tied the laces together, and hung them on the trees in the garden. He didn't take credit for the prank, but Damian had to admit that it was even better than his own plan. The cleanup alone took an hour and everyone was thoroughly frustrated by the end of it.

Jason Vs. Cookies

Jason and the sugarless cookies (nothing exciting, but surprisingly effective).

Jason made a batch of cookies but instead of using sugar, he used salt and set them out on a tray in the kitchen and let his evil plan come into action. It was beautiful in the fact that it was simple. No one expected something so straightforward.

He had gotten Nico first, who admittedly had quite the sweet tooth. He'd taken a bite, pulled a face, and thrown the rest away. Then Dick came into the kitchen behind him and Nico didn't bother to warn the older boy, instead choosing to watch as Dick took the salty treat.

Dick took a bite and then spat it out into the trash can much more dramatically than Nico had. He was the nicer of the pair so he'd also scraped the rest of the batch into the trash rather than leaving them for the others to find as Nico would have.

Two brothers, two points.

Dick Vs. Everyone

Dick and the case of the missing blankets.

The plan was simple, steal all the blankets from his brother's rooms and make a fort with them in one of the spare bedrooms. Wait for them to find him and declare himself the victor. He wouldn't win with this prank, but he would be the one with a fort so who was the real winner?

Stealing Jason's was easy, he was on patrol. Stealing Tim's was harder, but he managed to grab them when Tim went to a friend's house to maintain appearances. Damian's and Nico's blankets were the hardest to steal. The two of them hardly left their rooms. Finally, Damian took Nico to the library to read to him and Dick struck.

Building the forts was easy, he used to watch his parents help set up the tents at the circus and it was basically the same thing. In no time he had the coolest fort ever spread throughout the entire room. Dick stood back and surveyed his work.  He was startled when a sudden voice came from behind him,

"As impressed as I am by your building abilities, Master Richard, I must insist that all the covers be returned to their proper beds afterward," Alfred said with a twinkle in his eye.

"Thanks, Alfred. I'll get this cleaned up, don't worry," Dick smiled brightly at the old butler. He turned back to survey his work.

"Don't mention it." Then Alfred pulled his ninja butler act and disappeared down the hall. It was sometime later before all the boys realized their sheets were missing. Nico didn't notice at all until Damian had come in asking if he had taken them.

After an hour of searching, they found Dick snuggled up in the middle of his fort, fast asleep. They would never admit it to Dick, but it really was an impressive fort.

Nico Vs. Everyone

Nico and the Valentine's Day Pinata. (Valentine's Day Special)

This prank happened on Valentine's Day and was definitely one for the record books.

Nico had been holed up in his room all morning preparing it.  He was filling a red, heart-shaped pinata with cheesy Valentine's Day cards, Hershey's kisses, red confetti, and fake rose petals. No one knows, but Nico was a hopeless romantic beneath that cold exterior and found the idea of Valentine's Day rather endearing.

He held the pinata over the edge of the railing of the second-floor catwalk and waited for his victim. To lure his prey, he had put the centaur toy right under him on the first floor. In his hand, he had his dagger to cut the pinata open.

By the time someone finally fell into his trap, his arm was sore and his back ached. The poor unknowing victim of this prank would be none other than, Damian Wayne.

Damian approached the centaur cautiously and stood right in front of it, ready to pounce if it turned on. As he inspected it, Nico was about to cut out the bottom of the pinata when two sets of footsteps echoed through the hall, heading towards Damian. Soon, Damian, Tim, and Jason were all in position for his trap.

In one quick motion, Nico sliced the pinata in half and its contents spilled out over his brothers. It was a prank none of them would soon forget.
