Chapter 62

Gemma, Louis and Harry decided that it is a nice idea to drive to London early to spent the day there. Doncaster isn't really interesting for the American girl to see and she has to be at the airport in the evening anyway.

"So what would you like to see, Gems?" Harry asks while they are driving. Louis is behind the wheel, Harry is sitting next to him and Gemma is in the back.

"I don't know, you tell me. What's nice to see? I don't want to do too much though. I had a long flight and I will have another one tonight. That's pretty exhausting. I have to switch planes in New-York." The girl sighs.

"We can take her on a guided boat trip." Louis chuckles, making Harry's eyes roll.

"Why? You have found a Dutch one or something?" Harry jokes.

"Wouldn't that be nice, Harold."

"Lou, please stop it. Your grandmother has been calling me that all day and night yesterday, even this morning at breakfast."

"I think your grandmother is really nice, Louis." Gemma smiles.

"Thank you so much. I really can't wait to meet yours. I bet she is an angel."

"She is." Gemma agrees.

"She can be." Harry says at the same time as his sister.

"Alright, so maybe we can go to Big Ben and after find a nice bar where we can just drink, chill have a quick bite until we have to go to the airport?" Louis suggests.

"That actually sounds really nice."

--

They went to see the Big Ben, made a few cool shots next to the tower and this time there is this cute picture that Gemma made secretly when the boys were kissing and one after they just stopped, staring into each others eyes.

Right now they are in a bar filled with bean bags. They serve fancy cocktails and have amazing sandwiches.

"This is a really nice place." Gemma says while sitting comfortably and sipping from her mojito.

"We went here to celebrate Zayn's eighteenth birthday. It was lit. At night you can do karaoke and afterwards there was this amazing DJ. When we'll live here in London and you come to visit Gemma, I'll take you." Louis smiles.

"That sounds good. I could use some good night out."

The conversation gets interrupted by a ringing phone.

"It's Niall. Is it okay if I answer?" Harry asks, looking guilty at his sister and boyfriend.

"You go ahead. I'd like to have a talk with Louis in private." Gemma winks and Louis immediately feels himself sweating. He knew he couldn't avoid the talk.

"Be nice to him." Harry snaps right before answering the phone happily.

"So, Louis..."

"Gemma." Louis says nervously, quickly taking a sip from his mocktail. He is not drinking alcohol when he still has to drive his boyfriend and his boyfriend's sister.

"I'm going to be straight to the point. I know what happened between you and Harry in the beginning and I know how you've treated him. He called me crying daily explaining what you did to him. And as much as I am happy for my brother that he is in love, I would like to understand this. You went from ruining his life to buy his sister a plane ticket to celebrate Christmas. I hope you understand that I am confused. I'm going to be honest, Louis. When he first told me that you guys were getting close and he started to develop feelings I did my best to stop it. My brother might trust you but I don't. He has been hurt before by straight guys who used him for some games and I want to make sure that you are not another one. I'm sorry that I sound harsh, I'm just doing what a big sister should do..."

Louis bites his lip, fighting the tears. Of course Gemma knows about what happened in the beginning. Of course she is calling Louis out. If someone would treat Lottie like that he would call them out either, or maybe he would just skip the calling out and immediately beat the shit out of them.

"I know that my behaviour in the beginning was horrible and I honestly don't have any valuable excuse. I was very confused at the time and your brother made me feel things and brought up emotions that I couldn't control. I know it's not an excuse. I can't really tell you why I did it, Gemma. I understand that you don't trust me. I wouldn't trust me either and I don't understand that Harry does, but I'm really thankful for it. I can assure you that this isn't a kind of sick game. I try to make up for my mistakes every single day and you can't imagine how scared I am that one day he wakes up and realises that he deserves so much better than me, because I've hurt him so much before. I genuinely love him so much. I... I'm sorry." Louis quickly wipes away some tears with his sleeve and keeps talking.

"Falling in love with your brother was so easy. Accepting it was the hardest thing I have ever done..." Louis whispers, scared to make eye contact with the girl in front of him.

"Harry says that I have to trust him and his decisions." Gemma sighs. "And when you invited us to come here, my mom refused. I'm going to be honest again with you, Louis. She hates you. She was so worried about Harry coming here for such a long time and when he called the first time crying she lost it. The crying didn't stop for like a month. She knows that the two of you are dating now and she doesn't agree at all, neither did I. I suggest when you come to us in a month that you show my mother the things that I have seen. You care about my brother Louis, I can see it. And why you acted the way you did is a big question mark for me but I guess if my brother can get over it, so can I. It's just... Take care for my mother okay? She isn't the forgiving type. You made a mother biggest nightmare come true... Her youngest kid sad at the other side of the world while she isn't able to do anything."

He knows Gemma's words are true and make a lot of sense, but he can't help himself and cries even harder. When he sees a curly lad coming back he quickly wipes his tears away again, but too late.

"Babe, what's wrong? Why are you crying?" Harry takes Louis' hand in his, squeezing it.

"It's nothing, baby." Louis puts a fake smile on his face.

"This isn't nothing. Gemma, what did you say?" Harry gives his sister a warning look.

"I told him the truth about mom, Haz. He should be prepared when he comes to LA. I trust him, I really do and I trust your intuition Haz but we both know that mom still isn't over the fact of what happened a few months ago."

Harry sighs and pulls Louis on his lap, kissing his sleep.

"It's okay, boo. I'm sure if my mom will get to meet you that she likes you. You've won Gemma over, didn't you?" Harry kisses a tear away.

"I messed up." Louis' voice is hoarse of the crying and he hides his face in the crook of Harry's neck.

"I love you." Harry says ignoring the messing up part. He knows that if he starts arguing about it Louis will put himself down even more and he can't have that.

"I love you." He says, lifting his head and looking into Harry's eyes, wanting to show with his look that he really means it.

"I'm sorry I made you cry, Louis. I feel really bad now." Gemma admits, looking at the floor. Louis stands up and walks over to the girl.

"Can I hug you?"

Gemma looks up weirdly.

"Sure..." she doesn't really know what to say. She doesn't know the boy that well but she knows it's important to her little brother so she hugs the smaller boy.

"I'm sorry for hurting your brother and I'm sorry for giving you reasons back then to worry about him. I promise that I will protect him with everything in me. I won't let him get hurt by anyone or anything. I'm carrying the guilt of what I did everyday with me and I regret it so much. I truly love him Gemma and I wish I could tell you how much he has helped me in so many ways. I would never do anything to hurt him or lose him. He's my home."

"I believe you, Louis. It's fine, I'll believe you. If Harry trusts you, so do I."
