Chapter 26

The next day Harry and Louis drive to school together like they do every day.

"You are still fine with hanging out with me yeah, at school? Like having lunch together and stuff?" Louis asks when they walk in.

"Of course, Lou. You are my friend, and what will people think when the Louis Tomlinson, mister popular, hangs out with me, Harry -stealsgrandmotherstableclothes- Styles."

"Don't talk yourself down, Harry. You are awesome. I'm so sorry I said those things. I really like your grandmother's tablecloths" Louis says teasingly. Harry hits him softly in the ribs and laughing they walk to their lockers.

"Hey, Harry!" Stephanie and Liam walk up to the guy, books already in their hands. Stephanie totally ignores Louis that is standing next to her friend. "Ready for French?"

Harry nods. "Yeah, I am. I'll be sitting with Louis today though." Harry pulls an arm around him, making Louis feel more comfortable. The boy really feels out of place when Harry is with Steph and Liam.

"Are you?" Stephanie looks at Harry, the look in her eyes indescribable.

"Yeah, and I'm having lunch with him as well today, sorry guys!" Harry gives them a guilty look. He feels like he is dropping his friends for Louis, but Louis is his friend as well and he really needs the help right now.

"That's fine, Harry. You can have more friends than just us. We'll see you around dude." Liam waves at Harry and he pulls Stephanie with him, the red haired girl cursing under her breath.

"I like Liam, he is a good lad. I don't get it why he keeps hanging out with Stephanie." Louis says as they are walking to class.

"Louis..." Harry says in a warning tone.

"Yeah, yeah. No trash talking Stephanie. I was hoping it doesn't count because I compliment Liam." Louis smiles weakly, making Harry smile at well.

"It doesn't go like that, Louis."

"Hey, I could have tried." Louis gives Harry a side look, Harry doing exactly the same to Louis. They both look down and blush, a big smile plastered on their faces.

--

"And you never had French in America?" Louis asks during lunch. He feels the eyes of everyone burning on Harry and him. They aren't used to the two boys sitting together, and they still think about back when Louis used to be the one to trash talk Harry. That the two boys are eating lunch together, just the two of them, is just weird for the whole senior year.

"No, but I study art and there is this class art history. A lot of artists were French so I think I'm just used to the accent." Harry explains, taking a sip of his coke.

"Your accent is really good. You sound like you are French. Did you know that my name is French?"

Harry nods.

"Yeah, many French kings in history had the name Louis. Did you know that they didn't shower or take a bath for weeks sometimes, the French? They just used parfum to cover their stank."

"That's just extremely disgusting." Louis makes a funny face which makes Harry smile. "How do you know these things? You are so smart."

"I'm not smart. I used to be obsessed with French art and Paris so I did some research about it."

"The only things I know are French fries and French kissing." Louis wiggles his eyebrows, making Harry giggle.

"Did you know that they are actually Belgian fries?"

"Shut it, you curly smartass." Louis takes a cucumber from his plate and throws it at Harry.

"Are you starting a food fight again, Tomlinson?" Harry has a smirk on his face, already holding a tomato.

"You started it last time, Styles."

"You are so lucky that I don't want detention. Just watch your back at home."

Louis bites his lip and gives Harry a cocky look.

"Bring it on."

Both boys are so caught up in each other that they don't notice Zayn and Perrie sitting behind them.

"I tell you, Zayn. They like each other." Perrie tells her boyfriend.

"Do you think? I just think they are good friends, he is helping to get Louis over Eleanor. I don't think Louis likes boys, not that I would mind if he does, but I never noticed something. He only has dated girls. He was a few months with Stephanie and immediately after that he was with El till now."

"That he has been with girls doesn't mean anything. He can be bi or pan or whatever. Just want to tell you that it's so obvious that there is something between them. Just check how they look at each other."

Zayn listens to his girlfriend and turns around. He was sitting with his back to Louis and Harry.

When he turns around he sees Harry telling a story, making big gestures with his hand. Louis is leaning his head on the palm of his hand, elbow standing on the table. He looks fondly at the boy, a look full of adoration and a small smile playing on his lips as he watches the boy attentively, taking in every single word he says.

"Yeah, you might be right babe."

--

Last period just finished and Harry is waiting for Louis at his locker. Harry had biology, Louis geography. He looks up when he hears his name.

"Hey, Harry. How was your day hanging around with Louis?"

Stephanie leans against the lockers, playing with a strand of her fire red hair.

"It was really nice actually. He is such a good person and so amazing. I wish you guys could get along so I could spend every day with both of you."

"You do realise it's not going to happen, yeah?"

"Yeah I know." Harry says sadly. He really wishes they could get along. He wants to spend every single day like this. Today was honestly the best they of school for Harry. Louis made him laugh a lot and they just click.

"Have you already talked about the problem by the way? Did you sleep better? Or did Louis bring another girl last night? Keeping you up with his moaning."

Just as Harry is about to answer, he hears a voice behind him.

"You told her?"

Panic rushes over Harry and he immediately turns around.

"Louis! It's not..."

"I can't believe you tell her about my private life. You don't have the right to spread things about me that happen in my house. I trusted you." Louis turns around, not even bothering to put the books he doesn't need in his locker. He walks away from Harry as fast as he can, feeling betrayed.

"Louis, wait! I can explain." Harry is jogging, trying to catch up with the smaller boy. He puts his hand on is shoulder, wanting to be able to face him. He feels guilty when he sees Louis' watery eyes.

"Louis I swear I just told them that you bring home girls, nothing more. It was even before you told me about you know what."

"You know how I feel about her yet you share personal information about me with her. That's my private life, Harry. It's not up to you to share that with my bloody ex that is my enemy. Just, leave me alone please." Louis pulls his shoulder away from Harry's touch, unlocks his car and drives away from the parking as fast as he can.

Harry feels like an idiot. Finally Louis trusts him, and he messes everything up by not being able to keep his big mouth shut.
