chapter 34

i sat on the couch, fezco, faye, and ashtray sitting as we watched a movie together.

my my mind wasn't really on the movie, but more of.. everything else. my mom, sage, amelia, hazel and her mom, marie, ashtray, fezco, rue, lexis play. you know, something it feels like my brains gonna shut down from thinking so many things at one time.

i guess the movie had finished, because faye got up to get something from the kitchen, and ashtray got up to use the bathroom as the end credits rolled on the tv screen. this left me and fezco alone, and i hasn't noticed he had been looking at me until he spoke up. "you good, kid?"

i smiled at the nickname he hadn't called me in a long time. "yeah, why?"

he didn't seem to believe me one bit, but stopped up and grabbed the remote anyway. "just looks like you got shit on your mind."

i do. "no.. i'm fine."

he slowly nodded his head, but still looked at me as if he was trying to figure it all out.

once he had finally turned back to the tv to find another movie for the four of us to watch, and faye and ashtray had walked back in the room and sat down, i kept my attention on the tv this time.

was it actually noticeable that i had a lot of stuff on my mind?

ashtray laid his arm over my shoulder, bringing me closer with a glare from fezco. i chuckled a little, but laid my head on the crook of his neck.

eventually a few hours had passed of watching movies and i grew bored of it, so i groaned and looked up to ashtray who was still sat next to me.

"i'm bored." i told him, and he looked over at me."okay?"

i rolled my eyes, moving out of his grip and over to fezco. "fezzzz." i dragged out.

he shook his head with a little smile, looking at me as if he was waiting for me to tell him something. so before i told him i was bored, which was already obvious, i thought over all the things i could do.

i let out a little gasp, making him furrow his eyebrows. "can we go to the arcade?"

he chuckled, "i'll take you.. but i'm not going to no arcade."

i rolled my eyes, and turned to ashtray who was already shaking his head. "ashtray! pleaseeee." i put my hands together in a begging manner. but he still shook his head, making me turn back to fez.

"i can't go alone!" i told him.

he laughed again, "tell your friends? i don't know, mal."

but that wasn't an option, hazels mom found out about the party and is in trouble for it, and anna is watching her sister, so neither of them will be able to come. "they're busy."

he shrugged, making me huff in annoyance. i sat back next to ashtray, "you're a bitch." i mumbled, making him whip his head to me. "what?"

i turned to him, acting confused. "what?"

he rolled his eyes, "what did you say, malani?"

i shrugged, "who knows."

"bye fez!" i smiled, my arm tightly linked with ashtrays as i forced him inside the arcade building.

"you're so annoying." he shook his head, unlinking out arms once we had stepped inside.

"okay, big guy. what do you want to do first?" i asked him, looking around the room.

"none." he answered, trying to walk off to the tables that were sat around the room. but i quickly grabbed him, and pulled him to the closet game, practically forcing him to play.

eventually, we move on to that one basketball game. and surprisingly, ashtrays was pretty good. "wow, ash. maybe you should play basketball." i joked, elbowing him.

he scoffed, "fuck no." making me laugh, before we move onto the next game.

as i sat down, starting the game, i felt ashtray poking my side, making me move a little over. "i'm gonna loose, stop."

but he continued, making me roll my eyes. "what did you say earlier?" he asked, making me chuckle.

"i said 'you're a bitch.'" i told him, and then felt him kick my foot, making me loose the game i had been playing. "ashtray!"

he laughed, walking off to air hockey. as the game started, ashtray rolled up the sleeves of his jacket, making me roll my eyes. guy thinks he's gonna win.

but, he did in fact win. making me harshly set down the mallet thingy, and walk over to the tables as we had basically did all the games. "you're still a bitch."

"you're a sore looser." he sat next to me, putting his arms on the table.

i shook my head, looking around the room for anything else we could do before going home.
"the photo booth!"

he looked over to where i was looking, but immediately shook his head. "fuck no."

i threw my arms on the table, "please?"

he shook his head again, "no, that's shits so corn-." i cut him off, grabbing his arm and dragging him over to it.

"malani, i am not doing this shit." he said once we were stood next to it, but i had already put the money in and pulled him inside.

a smug smile on my face, i sat down. the little timer, before they take a picture, we off and i rushed, "what should we do?"

he shrugged, so i grabbed his face and squished it with mine.

he groaned after the picture was taken, "this shit is so corny."

i chuckled a little, but eventually he gave in and did the same poses as me. and the last one, we kissed.

we stepped out of the booth, my shaking my hands around from nerves, as i waited for the pictures. and once that came out, i grabbed them and looked at them, making sure ashtray looked too.

"your eyes are pretty." i commented, looking at the first one we took.

i glanced over, to see he had a small smile on his face. not so corny now, huh?

i looked over the pictures a good three times, my eyes always falling back on the last one. and once i looked away from them, back to ashtray who still had the littlest smile on his face.. i felt my heart drop a little.. that, or i got butterflies.

one thought crossed my mind, and it made a small smile form on my face, but it also made me ten times more nervous than i already was.

holy shit, i love ashtray.
