Dabi's p.o.v

It's not normal for Hawks to be running off after making plans, I mean at least the one I had known for such little time. Maybe I really didn't know him enough to make those observations. Perhaps the boy with wings really wasn't interested in talking to me and had better things to do. Whatever, he said he had to go, it could be an appointment or something, not that I fucking care, he was the one who made plans anyway.

It's about 9 p.m. when I finally finish all my late work and head back to the dorms, where I was welcomed by Rumi in the kitchen. I greeted her and kept making my way up to my room.

"I know what you're thinking"

I hear her voice speak to me so I turn around and return to her location. I tilt my head in confusion and she chuckles back. "Nobody wants to hang out with the new boy, that's why Hawks left you, it's not like that at all" She began to explain making gestures with her hands. Oh? So does she knows why he did that?

"Once a month, on the second Tuesday, Hawks gets visiting rights to see his dad"

"Visiting rights..?"

"Yeah, his father is serving time in prison"

It suddenly clicked inside of me, no wonder he was so shocked. I shouldn't have assumed it was anything else, but why was she telling me this?

"You didn't have to tell me you know"

"Oh, Hawks told me to tell you, he had no idea how to tell you so he left it to good ol' Rumi!"

"He did?"

"Dabi you guys are friends, he wouldn't just ditch you unless it's something super important, like this"

"Well, thank you for letting me know, tell him I'm not mad or-"

"Give me your phone"

I obey her words and hand over my phone. She returns it with his contacts and I look up at her. "Rumi, there's no need for this I-" I get cut off to her saying "I swear, you boys are so complicated, anyway, see you at class!" Is the last thing she tells me before walking in a different direction and disappears.

Should I text him? Tell him everything's okay? It's not that important, I'll just tell him when I see him, whatever.
