*Perfection is the Key*

(Reid's P.O.V)

"Right. Let's focus on Thomas," Morgan suggested, gesturing to the board on which we had pinned Riley's life. "What can be the stressor? Why did he start killing?"

My chair squeaked as I leaned farther back, trying to process my ideas and sift through the information I had acquired. But my thoughts kept turning to Amelia, a helpless victim to that sadistic creep.

"Has Garcia checked his background?" I asked, rolling my shoulders to try and relax.

"She's on it now."

I nodded, staring blankly at the map. My mind just wasn't processing anything. "Why their facial structure? What's so special about it? And why take Amelia in the first place?"

Morgan looked thoughtful, then he picked up the phone. "Hey, baby girl, can you get a picture of Amelia on the screen for me?"

Morgan hummed and snapped the phone shut, just as an image of Amelia popped up on the screen. I sighed sadly, remembering she was in the hand of a rapist, but forced myself to study the image.

I slipped out of my chair and stared at the screen, isolating specific features and picking out her structure. "It's the same as the others; he must have seen it when we went to his house. He'd said she was perfect." A sense of anger at myself surged through my blood. "Damn it. If only I'd realised sooner about the structure. I could've prevented this!"

Morgan glared at me. "Look at me, Reid. You'd better get your act together. Blaming yourself is not helping. Now, if you can't get the job done, you shouldn't be here."

I scowled at the floor in dumb silence, feeling my shoulder heave as I tried to hold down my guilt-driven rage. Morgan was right.

"All relevant locations are within a seven mile radius, all surrounding the shopping mall. I think the mall is the key here," I stated, gesturing towards the map. Derek nodded approvingly to himself, and joined me by the board.

"I'll have Garcia pull up a map of the mall." He'd barely said the last word when his phone rang, and he checked the caller ID. "Speak of the devil," he smirked.

"Speak to me, princess."

"You know I will, my cherry pie. I ran all previous employment records of Thomas Riley, and found that he used to work in Terington's dresses, as well as the shopping mall, in the beauty department," she said, her fingers clacking against the keyboard. "But, then he was fired after he stopped taking his meds for his D.I.D and physically abused a customer. His wife left him, and then he re-married again a month after, but... It looked like Alice was planning to divorce, right before her death."

"Thanks, baby girl," Morgan grinned, but I halted him before he cut her off.

"Did Alice know of his condition?"

"Yeah, she was his nurse."

"Right, can you pull up a map of Bensons Shopping Mall for us?"

Garcia chuckled to herself. "Be there in three... One. Ciao!"

The map flashed onto the screen, and we zoned in on the base level.

"There's plenty of storerooms he could have taken her to," Morgan suggested, gesturing to the many rooms displayed on the map.

"Hmm," I hummed thoughtfully. "But how would he get her there? Thomas Riley doesn't look like a very strong man; he can't have carried her. He must've used his van. Which means he'd have to have somewhere to park."

Morgan hummed in agreement, and then an idea struck me.

"What if he took her to an old warehouse? The mall used to own about a dozen."

Morgan whipped out his phone and dialled Garcia.

"You're wanting a lot of me today!" She exclaimed, amusement lacing her tone.

"I need you to pull up all disused and abandoned warehouses that used to link to the shopping mall, for me," he said and Garica began typing.

"I have five," she stated. "Oh, wait. Thomas Riley used to work in one of them; before he worked in the beauty department. It's Warehouse 229."

"Thanks, baby girl," he said quickly.

"We need to call Hotch," I stated.

Morgan nodded and we both left the room in a flurry. A surge of relief pulsed through me as I realised we almost had Amelia back.

*Omg. I'm so sorry for the lack of updates, and apologies for this one being so short. I believe this fanfic is almost finished; only about five more parts, maybe? But then I'm going to start another Reid fanfic, with completely different characters. So yah. Don't panic. There'll still be plenty of genius to go around ;)

Again, apologies for the lack of updates. School is stressful and I just haven't found the time to write. I'll try and upload a bit more frequently, but I can't promise anything.

Thanks for reading! :)*
