Fixation ✘ Beginnings and Endings

Chapter One ✘ Beginnings and Endings

"I always think these birds are going to shit on me," I said as I looked up at the sky and such as the birds flew over us.

"If they shit on you, it's good luck," Joshua said.

"Sure," I said.

"It's a nice breeze," He said.

"Umm, Kim, every time I post a video of Karina and True, she dm's me, and she's like, when are you going to have more kids? In my head, when I was going to have kids, I never imagined only having two kids and especially being in quarantine with Karina and True; I felt bad like they only had each other. There were times they didn't even want to play with each other, so like they had no friends, and you know it was because they were isolated even from each other for so long," I said.

"Right," Joshua said.

"I don't know True's getting older, and I just feel like it's now time to have another kid," I said.

Joshua started grinning.

"Yup, that's what I like to hear," He said.

I giggled.

"You have wanted to hear those words for so long," I said.

I have been thinking about wanting another kid for quite some time now, and I already have a head start on that. I started the process a couple of months ago when I froze my eggs.

"I'm going to need you; we have to like line it up with your schedule," I said.

"I agree," He said.

"So, I can make embryos with my frozen eggs," I said.

"I'm all for it," He said.

"Okay, I think I'm ready to do the whole pregnancy thing again," I said.

"We're ready," He said.

"This process might take time; I have no idea, so I just think to start the process, at least be prepared," I said.

"I think it's going to work," He said.

"I think it's going to work," I said.

"Exactly," He said.

"You know I've always wanted like six kids; so I have Jaciyah, Jeyce, Karina, and True, so four down, two more to go," He said.

"Okay, well, we'll just have to see what happens," I said with a smile.

Two weeks later, in the morning, Joshua drives me to my egg retrieval procedure for the second time.

I am tired but excited and happy to get this process over with because I feel stuffed and so tender everywhere.

But I am very grateful that I have an awesome husband to drive me around.

It is such a blessing that we gave all this modern science and technology and everything we gave available to us, but it's still been a really strange way to go about it when you have to do it like this.

It gets...sometimes... Just like takes the fun out of it.

Joshua parked the car, and we exited the car together. We put on our masks and hold hands as we enter the medical center.

An hour later, after the procedure is done, Joshua and I exit the building and head back home to our girls, Karina and True.

We walk into the house and hear the girls' laughing in the living room.

"Looks like they're having a good time," Joshua said.

I smiled and nodded my head as I quickly headed towards our daughters.

"Mommy and daddy are back," I sang as I opened my arms and bent down so they could run into my arms and hug me.

"Mommy!" The girls squealed as they ran over to me.

"Hello, my babies," I said as I kisser their cheeks.

"Are you okay?" Karina asked me.

"I'm okay, just tired," I answered Karina.

"Mommy, nap time," True said.

I chuckled.

"Yes, mommy needs a naptime," I said.

"Girls, let mommy go take a nap while you guys watch a movie with daddy," Joshua said.

The girls cheered and rushed me off to bed.

"Are you guys going to watch a movie without me?" I asked with a pout.

Joshua laughed.

"Yes," Joshua and the girls said at the same time.

I shook my head.

"Okay, fine," I said, walking out of the living room and up the stairs to our bedroom to take a nap.

The next day, I was at the Malibu vacation house poolside with Kendall, Kim, mom, and Corey when we started talking about Kennedy's relationship status as she had once again left Brock for the hundredth time.

"Yeah, so what's going on?" I asked Kim.

"I saw pictures of Kennedy and Brock this weekend, and I didn't want to be that nosey gossipy girl right away," Kim answered.

Corey speaks up

"I thought it was all over is what I've been told," Corey said.

"I think they're trying to work out, umm, and I just kind of think it's almost like a test or something like just to see how she handles prioritizing Brock more," I said.

"That's the main problem in their marriage. Brock feels like he's in last place in her life," Kendall said.

"And I can completely understand that," Kim said.

"Yeah, she complained about him working too much, and he reduced his schedule to be there for her and the kids more; then she goes and does the same thing she was complaining about, so it's hard to say, hey Kennedy, I empathize with you," Mom said.

"She's a walking contradiction," Kendall said.

"They just need to work on communicating better," I said.

"How can they do that when she leaves him at any minor inconvenience?" Kim asked.

"I don't know," Corey answered.

"I mean, as long as she doesn't file for divorce, they can make it work," I said.

"Definitely," Kendall said.

"So, what's going on with you and Brock?" I asked Kennedy.

Kennedy repositioned herself on the couch and threw her hands up with a shrug.

"I mean, you know things have definitely taken a turn," Kennedy answered.

"No, why which way?" I asked her.

"Well, I thought I would give it a try and make him more of a priority, but then even when doing that, I feel like he just started wanting to like push me working out of the picture entirely, and I said like that's not who I am, I have never had not to work a day in my life, and I'm not going to stop now," Kennedy explained to us.

"Sometimes it's time just to cut the cord," Kim said.

"Yeah, I need to be with somebody that I trust with all my heart and understands we can both work and spend time together, not hey I want you to stop making money and just be stuck to me twenty-four seven," Kennedy said.

"Yeah, as you should, as we all should," Kim said.

I mentally rolled my eyes as I knew Kennedy would not leave Brock and Kim agreeing with her was fake as hell.

"If you can't trust somebody like you can't really have anything," Kennedy said.

"Yeah, agree," Kim said.

"Agreed," I said.

"So, you can't travel after you finish working anymore," I said as I picked Joshua's bags for him to head to Florida for work.

"Nope, they want to lower the chances of getting Covid among the talent," Joshua said.

I shook my head and sighed. I did not know how to feel about Joshua not coming and seeing us when he had time off of work like I understood why they were doing it, but it didn't make me feel better about not seeing him.

"You girls could always just come with me," Joshua said.

"The girls have school and their friends here," I said.

"They can make friends in Florida," Joshua said.

"Did you forget their parents are not friendly people, so they're not that friendly," I said.

"I damn I just had to drill stranger danger into their little heads," Joshua said.

I picked the hangers and placed them back in the basket. I folded some shirts into his bags while he packed some sneakers into another bag.

"We'll try our best to come to visit you while you're working, but please promise to me that you will stay safe," I said.

Karina and I already had covid, and it was hard staying away from our family, so I did not want the same for Joshua.

"I promise," Joshua said as he walked over and pulled into his body and kissed my lips.

I kissed him back then pulled away.

"I'm going to let you finish packing; I have to take the girls to ballet," I said.

He nods, then slaps my butt.

"Ouch," I said, walking out of our closet.

"I love you!" Joshua called out.

I look over my shoulder.

"I love you too!" I exclaimed.
