6 - look at all those chickens

"Hawks, I swear that if you do any fucking stunts..." His laughter cut me off.

"Don't worry, baby bird. I won't do any of that. Now," he picked me up bridal style, "you better hold on tight."

In a flash, we were up in the air. My hair kept hitting my face, and the more time we spent in the air, the closer I got to his chest. I could feel Hawks's chest rise and fall as he laughed. He's so warm. Hawks placed a kiss on top of my head and whispered in my head that we're almost at my apartment. My heart rate kept rising, and I don't know if it's because we're literally so fucking high up in the air, or because this stupid pretty boy whispered in my ear. We landed on my balcony and Hawks tried to open my balcony door, but it was locked.

"Y/N, it's locked."

"No shit, bird brain! Why would I keep it unlocked?!" I said loudly, not realising that he can perfectly hear me now. "Just...just fly me to the front door, please."

And he did just that.

"Umm, Hawks?"

"Yes, chickadee?"

"Could you, or I don't know, put me down? So I can unlock my door." I pointed to my door.

Hawks pouted. "But then I won't be able to hold you."

My cheeks got red. "That's the point."

Instead of letting me go, Hawks pulled me closer towards his body. I could feel the his warmth through our clothes and I could hear his heart beating fast. Is he nervous? The door of my neighbour was being unlocked, so I quickly pushed away from him and jumped out of his arms. I fumbled to get my keys out, but luck was on my side because I unlocked my door and pushed Hawks inside before my neighbour could look at me.

"Y/N, dear, how are you?"

"I...I'm okay," I stuttered out, "just got back home from work."

"Oh no, are they making you work extra hours?"

I shook my head no. "Just had an overnight shift, that's all. Well, take care!"

"You too, dear."

As soon as they turned around, I quickly made it inside and closed the door behind me. Did not want anyone to see Hawks here. I just got to know my neighbours and I didn't feel like moving to another place if word got out that Japan's No. 3 hero was in my apartment. Hawks was staring at me and he had a cheeky grin plastered on his face.

"Didn't want your neighbour to know about me, huh?"

"Honestly, yeah. That would have been a nightmare to deal with." I sighed and walked around Hawks to get to Mochi. "Where's my baby?"

Mochi was laying on my bed and when she heard my voice, her head perked up. She meowed and I picked her up, holding her in my arms. Her face was rubbing against mine. I placed her back on the bed, poured food in her bowl, and replaced her water.

"You can make yourself at home," I told Hawks as I opened my drawers and getting some clothes out. "I'm just going to take a quick shower."

I looked back at Hawks to see if he heard me, but he was busy staring at Mochi. Since I didn't want to disturb him, I quietly made my way to the bathroom and locked the door behind me. I looked at myself in the mirror and my face was the same colour as a cherry tomato. Stupid, bird brain pretty boy.

. . .

I opened the bathroom door and continued towel drying my hair. When I walked back into the main space of my apartment, Hawks pointed at me as if I was in trouble.

"Your mom was the Elementalist Hero: Alchemy!"

"Yeah," I dragged out, "that was my mom."

Hawks looked like a child in a candy store. "Your mom was the coolest hero! Did you know that she debuted here? Wait, of course you know that!"

Seeing Hawks like that made me laugh. I tried to hide it, by covering my mouth with my damp towel, but he caught on. His winged perked up and his golden eyes lit up at the sound of my laughter. When I saw how he stared at me, my cheeks flared out and I looked away. Why does he have to be so cute?

"That's why I moved here," I tried not to look up at him as I made my way to the dresser. "Because I wanted to live in the city where she debuted."

I hanged my towel to dry and brushed out my hair. From the small mirror that I had on my dresser, I could see Hawks looking at the pictures I had on my cork board.

"You can ask about them, you know," I told him as I turned around to face him. "I can tell you're curious."

Hawks pointed to a picture of me with my three best friends from U.A. "You look really happy in this picture."

"Yeah," I smiled as I looked at it, "we took this after we got our provisional hero license." I pointed to the guy with the messy green hair, "that's Kaito. The one that looks like the physically embodiment of 'if looks can kill you' is Makoto. And the last one is Tatsuo, who was the mom friend of the group."

"Why does she look angry?" Hawks pointed at Makoto, "did she not get her license?"

I laughed softly. "No. It's not that. Makoto never liked getting her picture taken. Tatsuo had to force her to take the picture with us."

Hawks smiled and nodded his head. He kept asking about the different pictures and it was really nice remembering the happy memories. To be honest, I thought that he would get bored, but Hawks listened to my every word. There was one picture, though, that caught his eye. It was a simple picture of me, with Aizawa and Fat Gum at my side, at last years annual hero ceremony party.

"That was the first time we met. Officially, that is. Do you remember?"

"How could I forget?" I gently patted his cheek, surprising Hawks. "You were the life of the party. Well, once All Might left the party, of course."

He placed a small kiss on the palm of my hand. "You never accepted my dance offer back then."

My face started to get red and I pulled my hand away. "And I never will." I turned around and sat down in front of the kotatsu, pulling the blanket over my legs. "If you want to spend the day together, then we'll watch what I want. Is that a deal?"

"Only if I get to choose what we'll eat later."

Hawks looked at the picture one last time before taking a seat next to me. I was going to argue with him, how he was too close, but to be honest, I really liked having him close. I turned on the tv and clicked on the Netflix app. I continued watching the tv series that I was watching the day before yesterday. Without giving it a second thought, I laid my head against Hawks's shoulder and within an hour, I fell back to sleep.
