The sun was was shining bright and I felt so comfortable under its sunshine. Being atop of a building is the perfect way to get all the sunlight that I need. I could feel the flowers soaking up the sun, making sure I have extra sunlight for emergencies. As I stretched my arms in front of me, I could feel my phone vibrate in my pocket. I tried to ignore it, thinking that it's just another encouraging text from my dad. Curiosity got the best of me and I sighed, taking my phone out. When I unlocked it and read the text messages, I couldn't help but smile.

From Fat Gum 🍬:
You got this H/N 💯
Make Fukuoka know that there's a new pro hero in its city
And her name is H/N ✨‼️

I laughed at the encouraging memes that he kept sending me. Fat Gum has been one of my closest hero friends ever since I did and finished my work studies with him back in Esuha City. I really wanted to stay there, and work as one of his sidekicks but Fat Gum encouraged me to make it out in my own. Also, he may or may not literally pushed me out of his agency every time I came back and ask him for a sidekick position. I sent him a quick reply and put my phone away. As soon as I did, my anxiety started to increase.

What if no one likes me? What if there's nothing to do in the city? Why the fuck did I choose to become a Pro Hero? What the fuuuuu-

My inner thoughts suddenly stopped as I heard people screaming to the left of me. My whole body reacted at an instant and the wind run through my hair. I stopped when I reached the rooftop of the building in front of the surrounding chaos. It was an apartment complex and fire was engulfing one of the apartments. Sweat started to form on my forehead as I saw the flames. I could see the people at the bottom taking out their phones, taking pictures and videos.

Then one of them screamed and started to point up. I followed their line of sight and saw a little boy standing at the edge of the window. My instincts started screaming at me that I need to jump now and I followed my gut. As soon as my foot left the edge of the building, the little boy jumped from the window. I quickly caught them in one of my arms while I reached to pluck one of my petals. As I threw the air activated petal towards the ground, trying to slow down our descend, I felt something holding onto the back of costume.

"Look! It's Hawks!"

"Who's that?!"

"She just saved that boy!"

"Hawks just saved them!"

The little boy and me landed safely on the ground and the wind surrounding us quickly left as my petal disintegrated. He was shaking and crying in my arms. I gently wiped falling tears from his cheeks and soothe him in my arms.

"Shh. It's okay, sprout," I gently said to him. "You're safe now."

He looked up at me with teary eyes. "Did you save my brother too?"

A chill ran up my spine. "Your brother?" I tried my best to mask the uneasiness that I felt.

"He fell asleep when he tried to put on the fire." The little boy sniffled. "I couldn't wake him up. He's still up there." He started crying heavily now.

"Don't worry! I'm going to save him. That's what heroes do, right?" My lips formed a small smile, but it masked the worry and fear that I felt. I looked around and saw patrol cars and could hear a firetruck on its way. Officers were telling people to stay back and I saw a police woman coming towards me. "Now," I sat the little boy on the ground, "this officer will stay with you while I'll go get your brother."

"Promise?" His voice was breaking and I tried to my hardest to not let it get to me.

I held out my pinky finger. "I promise." He wrapped his small pinky finger around me and I gave him a small kiss on his head before getting up and turning around.

Hawks was flying above the ground, looking at the building and how the fire was spreading to the surrounding apartments. He was deploying feathers and pulling people out of the building, but he wouldn't get close to the fire.

"Hey!" I called out to him, catching his attention. "Pretty boy, can you get me up there?"

There was a small smirk on his face as he flew down. "As you wish." At an instant, Hawks picked me up bridal style. "Better wrap your hands around my neck."

"I would have been okay if you just sent one of your feathers."

He laughed and flew us to the burning apartment. "You're not suited for this, chickadee."

"What?!"

Hawks laughed again. "I don't mean the job. I meant the fire, since your quirk isn't suited for it." One of his feathers pointed to the flowers in my hair. "Guessing you're mainly a plant quirk."

My cheeks were getting hot. "You don't know anything about my quirk." Oh my god, he is so fucking cocky. "Can you just get me near the apartment?"

He didn't say anything as he flew me closer to the apartment. "This is as close as I can get, chickadee. Gotta protect my wings after all."

I rolled out my eyes as I plucked three blue petals from my head, throwing it towards the burning apartment. At an instant, they converted into water, taking out the large flames near the entrance.

"Woah." Hawks said in disbelief.

"If you'll excuse me, I got a kid to safe." I jumped out of his arms, landing safely inside the apartment.

The flames were starting to get bigger. I quickly started to deploy water and earth petals around the apartment while looking for the kid. Maybe I should have asked where he was. Smart move, Y/N. I covered my nose and mouth with my arm while looking, then I finally spotted him. He was curled up in the corner of the main bedroom, clutching onto a towel. He must have tried to put out the fire. I quickly gathered him up in my arms and as I did, I felt myself being pulled away by the back of my costume. Fresh air hit my flowers and I looked down. Why the fuck did I look down for?!

Then I felt a familiar pair of arms embracing me.

"Gotcha. Did you think that I was going to let you fall, chickadee?" I looked up at Hawks and he was giving me his signature wide smile.

"I could have handled it on my own," I huffed out.

"I believe you," Hawks admitted while still holding his smile, "but I just wanted an excuse to hold you." Then he winked at me and I could feel my cheeks getting red.

Holy shit. I don't think I ever wanted to punch another hero more than I want to punch him.
