XVIII. | EIGHTEEN | bonus chapter

please note that this does not follow the storyline. this is just incase tua doesn't get renewed for a s4 and you're not left with that as an 'ending'. even tho this isn't canon events.

this takes place before five left and if eight and five actually got along w/ each other then lol. and out of respect for viktor & elliots transition, i'll be referring to him as viktor even though he didn't transition until later on.

Outside Y/n's room were shuffled footsteps, flashlights moving against the creaky floorboards as a flash of blue light snapped into her room. Someone directed the flashlight directly into her eyes that were shut as she slept soundly.

They shook her shoulder, and hissed in a whisper, "Wake up!"

"What? What's wrong?" She mumbled while stirring in her sleep, slowly propping herself up on herself on her elbows and blocking the harsh light.

Five directed it elsewhere, "We're leaving now. Are you even ready?"

"No? Is there a mission?"

He stared at her, shaking his head, "We're going to the arcade down the street. You're the one who planned this." He whispered harshly.

"Oh, yeah, sorry. I fell asleep, so just give me a second and I'll be out there."

He sighed, not bothering to stay upset at her, "Okay, I'll let them know."

He left just as fast as he had appeared, and as Y/n swiftly changed into something more appropriate for the colder seasons, she heard hushed complaints and Five defending her. She zipped her jacket up, snatching a flashlight from her dresser and quietly exiting her room to go to Fives across the hall.

"Took you long enough." Diego held his arms out while waiting to go down the fire escape, Viktor currently climbing down the ladder. "Why'd you invite Viktor?"

"Because, he's apart of the family, jackass." She scoffed bitterly, "I planned this, so I say who's invited."

"... Fine, but we better not be on the same laser tag team."

"Odds versus evens." She shrugged, watching Diego give her a nod in agreement.

Once everyone had hopped off the ladder, waiting for Y/n who was last, they all grouped off to their own social circles to talk. Y/n was halfway tuned into to one of Klaus's frantic stories from when he'd snuck out last weekend. She interrupted, telling him to walk ahead as she stopped, waiting for Viktor to catch up from the way back of the group.

He dragged himself along, shivering slightly as snow casted down on his hair, "How are you not cold?"

Y/n opted to skip over the obvious reason of her powers, "I'm just not feeling it yet."

He hummed, eyeing the rest of the group laughing and talking together, "Why'd you even invite me? They don't like me, Y/n."

"Because you're apart of the family."

"Yeah, yeah, I know." He sighed, breath showing in the air, "But I'm not apart of the team. I'd rather be at home, in my bed, not freezing my ass off."

"You're apart of the team, first of all. I can't be Number Eight without a Number Seven, hm?" She nudged him, "And it's odds versus evens for lazer tag, so you'll be on their team."

He perked up a little, "I guess so."

They finally reached the building at the end of the street, Five holding the door for Y/n and Viktor after everyone else had gone in. She ushered Viktor to go in before her, and he quickly got pulled into Klaus and Bens small quarrel.

The group looked around at all the neon lights and bright signs, seeing the array of games to pick from. They eventually moved along from their awestricken state, getting one of the workers to set them up for 3 rounds of laser tag - which costed them most of their money combined.

"Laser tag can't be too hard, can it?" Y/n questioned to Five next to her as she put the vest on.

"I'd teach you if you were on my team." He shrugged, "And you're putting that on backwards."

"Oh, shit." She muttered, taking it off and putting it back on correctly, "Since when have you played laser tag, though?"

"I haven't, but it's just an aim thing, right? Point and aim." He pulled the laser gun off the wall, "Not rocket science."

He gave her a shrug while going to enter the area first with his team.

Either Five was a liar and played the game regularly or he was just naturally good with aim.

The whole first round, Y/n had been his number one target, shooting her vest a total of 7 times and she got his twice. The first round ended with her plotting revenge as he laughed while walking by her.

"Don't be so mad. You're the one who said it'd be easy."

She scowled, knowing he was right. Even so, their first round of ten minutes was over. The overhead announcement came on and told them so, giving them a two minute break in between to discuss with their teammates.

"How did I never see you guys during the match?" She inquired once meeting up with them, ducked behind one of the walls, "It was like a war zone and there's only eight of us."

"I say we just hide." Klaus shook his head, "Luther shot me, like, 17 times in the first 2 minutes."

"More like twice." Diego scoffed, "We have to strategize."

"Like assigning someone to someone else?" Ben offered the idea and Diego snapped his fingers together.

"Yes!"

"Well, they probably did the same thing." Y/n shrugged, "Five targeted me the whole time."

"Good, then you can take Five. I'll take Luther, Ben can take Allison, and Klaus can get Viktor."

The lights shut back off, and they slowly dispersed as a group. Y/n took a glance around, booking it up the flight of stairs to the second level and resting behind a wall. It was only a few seconds before someone found her, and it was Five, laser gun raised in the air as she shook her head.

"You're freakishly good at this." She lowered her laser gun to her side and he copied her.

"I told you it'd be easy." He shrugged, peeking out behind the wall and seeing the coast was clear. "I'm a quick learner."

She blinked at him, shaking her head, "I hate you."

He laughed, "You were an easy target, darling. Your aim sucks."

Y/n hummed, brushing of the casual use of the pet name as Allison groaned from the lower level after getting shot.

"I think I've realized that tonight, but thanks for highlighting that." She leaned her shoulder against the wall, mimicking Five until he moved.

He walked to stand in front of her, "You had determination, though. It was cute how you kept trying."

She hummed sarcastically while resting with her back against the wall. He hooked a finger under her chin, tilting her head up like the action would make him sound more believable.

"I'm serious, you know."

He looked into her eyes and it felt genuine. She couldn't explain how the look in his eyes made it feel real now, but it seemed like he probably really did mean it. The way he was gazing over her features, highlighted by soft purple lights mixed from their red and blue vests, and peering into her eyes in such a vulnerable way made her feel as if she was getting pulled into some sort of addictive trance. Their lips were slowly brought together in a chaste kiss, and her lips tasted like something celestial, like honey filtered by the gods and his tasted like the start of forever.

As she reached to place a hand on the side of his face, tracing along his jawline, something pressed her to the wall a smidge more and she drew her hand back. The sound of her vest powering down played as he pulled back, a smirk evident on his features, the only light left was the blue one his vest gave off.

He drew his laser gun back from her vest, "Told you, darling. You're an easy target."

She stood there, jaw ajar as he withdrew himself to walk off.

"I still meant everything I said." Five assured her while rounding the corner.

Y/n scoffed and went back down to the first level to continue playing despite being a little flustered. The night ended with the evens team sliding by on two wins, getting them bragging rights for a week.
