Y/n was sat on a chair, arms crossed as one of her legs bounced up and down nervously. She could see the view from the window of all the buildings slowly getting sucked into the enigma that had broke free. Bit by bit, fragments were drifting towards the Kugelblitz with no sign of stopping. The group gather around didn't know if any other humans were left or if it was just them remaining. There wasn't even much left, most of earth had bit broken away into small pieces. The hotel was close to edge of what was left, the enigma far off to the left. The thought of everything being gone so soon, with no back up plan to pull from their sleeve or anywhere to run to was worrying.

She stood and repositioned her chair, that way the pillar next to her obstructed her view of the window. Y/n glanced over to Five, and saw he was leaned over the railing, most likely looking out of the windows as well. He seemed oddly serene, maybe at peace with the situation.

"So, how is it that we're still here, but the whole of the universe is going down the cosmic shitter?" Allison spoke with a question mark in her voice.

"Maybe we're the last to get flushed." Viktor shrugged, his feet propped up on the coffee table.

"Wasn't talking to you." She spat.

"Hey, has anyone seen Klaus?" Luther chimed in.

Everyone was silent as they thought. Sloane spoke next, "Or dad?"

"They'll be here." Diego assured the group.

"Really?" Ben asked with oozing sarcasm, "Did they... hit traffic?"

"I'm about to hit your face." Y/n half smiled, "Does that count for anything?"

He ignored her, "Look, people, we're alive because we're special, right? We're the only ones who can save the universe."

"Uh, question." Allison interjected.

"Yes."

"Didn't we just try that and fail miserably?"

"Yeah, it's because his plan was stupid." Diego quipped, rolling his sleeves up. "I got a better one."

"Of course you do."

"We go with the large hard-on partial accelerator." He gestured to Viktor, then the rest of the group, "You guys do some science, and... we launch the Kugelblitz into outer space. Didn't think I knew that, did ya? It's in Switzerland."

"It's 'hardon'," Ben corrected, "Not 'hard-on', you moron!"

"At least he's trying, you shitty little squid." Lila spoke up, "What have you contributed?"

"Actually, he did blow up half his family."

"Oh, you wanna talk about family problems? You know what should have blown up is your face on that neck!"

"I wish I had a cake to hit to hit you with it in your face!"

"What are you talking about?" Ben retaliated back in his native tongue.

"You better cut that out—" Diego tried in Spanish.

"Oh, shut up!" He cut him off.

"Hey!" Five stopped them, "You guys done? The universe is disappearing outside. So you can keep rearranging the deck chairs of the Titanic if it makes you feel better. But the fact remains that we are too late."

Diego and Ben scoffed, striding back to where they were originally stood prior to getting in each other's faces.

"Five, come on." Luther tried.

"It's over, Luther. We failed."

"It's not that bad," Y/n tried while sitting forward, "We can do something. It can't be over over."

"Yeah, come on, Five." Diego agreed, "We gotta figure this out, man."

"Okay. How about we take a step back?" He clapped his hands together, "Look at the big picture here. Most of us have spent the last 28 days trying to stop the world from ending. What exactly have we accomplished?"

There was a few beats of silence as the group tried to muster something together in response. Everyone leaned back in their chairs as they stayed silent.

"Well," Luther began, taking a hold on Sloanes hand, "We made some friends along the way."

"Incorrect!" Five exclaimed, "You know what we've done? Nothing. We have made things worse every single time."

"Amen to that." Allison sighed.

Five sighed as well, taking a deep breath, "Look, when I went to the Commission, I had a conversation with my 100 year old self. And my last words were, "Don't save the world"."

"Don't save the world?" Viktor repeated.

"Don't save the world." He confirmed.

"... That's the stupidest thing I've ever heard."

"Is it?" Y/n countered Diego, "Whatever we're doing clearly isn't working. All we do is save the world for a few minutes on a good day, pat ourselves on the back, and then everything goes to shit again."

"Maybe we're the problem." Viktor shrugged from his chair.

"Oh, yeah." Allison scoffed, and emphasized, "Us."

"So, wait." Lila paused, "Your big plan is... no plan?"

"Exactly." Five pointed to her, "Conscientious objection. Why the hell not? We've tried everything else. Maybe this is just what the universe needs. I say, embrace the apocalypse. See what's on the other side."

"What if it's... nothing?" Sloane inquired, holding onto Luther's arm.

"Then it's been nice knowing you all."

The room went silent, even the remaining winds held their breaths. There was no retaliations or quips back. Everyone slowly sank back into their seats, accepting their fate.

"Whatever's on your bucket list," He started while going to take a seat next to Y/n, "I recommend you do that now."

Y/n scooted over to make enough room for Five as he sat down. He rested an arm around her shoulders as she crossed her arms. He sighed while looking at her. The feeling of his intense gaze made her glance over at him, and she got lost thinking about how close together they were sat in the armchair. She hummed as if to ask him to repeat his hushed sentence.

"I said, you know there's nothing we can do, darling." He whispered so the rest of the group wouldn't eavesdrop.

"I know." She nodded and looked back to the space she had been staring at while accepting reality, resting a head on his shoulder, "You're right."

"... Well," Luther began after everyone was quiet for a few more moments, "On that... super happy note," Him and Sloane stood, "We've, uh... we've got a little announcement to make."

The couple shared a look as Sloane held up a hand, announcing in sync, "We're engaged!"

"Kill me." Ben muttered.

Five let out a dejected sigh, mumbling a quip under his breath to make Y/n laugh.

"Now?" Allison checked.

"Yeah. Look, we realize the timing is less than ideal. But, obviously, it's now or never. Am I right, Five?"

"Don't drag me into this, please."

"Whatever time we have left, we wanna spend it with all of you." Sloane spoke up, earning an eye roll from Allison, "So we're super pumped if you would join us in the banquet hall at 6:00 p.m. for a celebration of our love, and the official union of what's left of our two great families. Oh, and Y/n. I heard about the adoption thing from Luther. So sorry."

"Uh, the dress code is creative black tie."

Five scoffed, speaking to Eight, "Two families, and Y/n."

"Well, it's true. I wasn't adopted." She shrugged, "... I remembered that fever dream I had a few nights ago about my mom, by the way. She said after a few months, she just dropped me on the door step of the academy. No note, or anything."

He paused, "That was just a dream, love. It wasn't real."

"Well, I'm in a different timeline now and she's dead. So that's the best explanation I'll get, even if it's a dream."

She perked up as Sloane walked around, handing the two their own wedding invitation. It was a little glass bottle with some sort of design printed on it, thin pieces of frayed rope tied around the cap with a small note attached.

"Wow," Lila dragged it out, "And you did all this yourself?"

"Luther helped too. We stayed up all night."

"Amazing." Lila muttered as Klaus and Reginald rushed up the steps.

"Dad?" Ben inquired, setting the invitation down on the counter.

Allison sat up right, "Klaus."

"Gather 'round, children." Reginald called for them, most staying out where they were.

"The hell have you been?" Diego shouted out to Klaus.

"Oh, Reg and I." Klaus paused, "We got tangled up in a whole father-son-end-of-the-world road trip kinda thing. You know?"

"You two are hanging now?" Ben checked.

"Yeah, we laughed, we cried, we played in traffic, and long story short, I'm immortal now." Klaus clapped his hands together, flexing his muscles afterwards.

"Whoa, wait." Luther stopped him, "You're what now?"

"Klaus," Allison stopped him before he could start, "Have you gotten into the bath salts again?"

"I think the more pertinent question is, why are you all playing with jars?"

"They're invitations." Sloane corrected while handing Reginald one. "Luther and I are getting married."

"All of space and time is collapsing, and you lot are planning a wedding?"

"Yeah, and, uh," Luther stood up from the loveseat he was sat on, "The thing is, um, space is limited. So it's kind of a per-plate situation, so, you know." He snatched the invitation from his hand, setting it back in the collection Sloane was carrying around.

"Is this how I raised you?" He queried, "To fiddle while Rome burns?"

"Remember what we talked about, Reg." Klaus whispered, attempting to be subtle about it.

"Quiet, I'm on a roll."

"Dad, have you been taking your pills?" Sloane questioned.

"As a matter of fact, I haven't. And I can confirm that I've never felt better in my life. You thought you could dope me up and slow me down, take control of my affairs and squander my fortune." He looked back to Klaus, "Well, Klaus here was good enough to wean me off that wretched poison. And now that the fog is lifting, I can see all your dastardly designs with a bracing clarity."

"You took him off his meds?" Sloane shook her head, "What were you thinking?"

"He's the only one doing any thinking at all. All of you could learn a thing or two from this impressive young man."

Y/n snickered, "The world really is ending. Oh my god, we're screwed."

"As for the rest of you, your training is to resume post-haste. We're running out of time. We have a mission to complete."

"I'm ready." Ben nodded, agreeing almost immediately, "Let's do this."

"Let me guess." Five spoke up, "Project Oblivion?"

"How do you know about that?"

Y/n glanced up to Reginald, "We heard all about it from Pogo."

He paused, "Now, there's a name I haven't heard in some time."

"He confirmed what I've always suspected bout you." Five pointed, leaning forward in the chair.

"Which is?"

"That you're a sadistic lunatic who's planning on gambling all of our lives in another pointless mission."

"And you'd take the word of a disgruntled chimp over that of your own father?"

Five blinked over to him, "Every damn day."

"Ditto." Y/n agreed while standing up, leaning against the pillar next to her, "Plus, you're not even my father."

"Nobody wants you here, Dad." Luther surmised, glowering at Reginald. "You should leave."

"Hey," Ben called, "You don't speak for all of us, big guy."

"Oh, feel free to join him."

"I see." Reginald nodded, "So this is what it's come to. Insurrection."

Klaus stopped him there, shushing him, "That's not the kind of erection we're driving for here, all right?" He turned to the rest of the group, "Everybody just needs to be chill. Clearly, you guys are on a different chakra frequency right now. So, Pops, let's go have a nice cup of tea in the suite."

"Let go of my arm." He's tried shaking Klaus off, but he stayed put.

"Luther, Sloane. Oh my god. I'm beyond thrilled. You guys are gorgeous. Amazing. Send me your registry!" He called while dragging Reginald away.

Y/n sighed, waving a dismissive hand and walking off from the group.
