TW: Family dysfunction

Gideon went to pick up Evelyn at 3 pm. She was shocked when she came home to a house full of her auntie's and uncle's. She opened the door, and she took off her shoes and coat. Said her hellos and ran off to her room. She started on her homework and got changed. Evvy had a swimming lesson today so she put her bathing suit on also put on tracksuit bottoms and a tracksuit jacket. She got one of her backpacks and packed it. It contained a underwear, crop top, t-shirt, socks, brush, bobble, towel and she also grabbed a wash kit. Once she had got all of those ready she put on a pair of socks and some trainers. Then grabbed slider's and placed them in her bag too. She brushed out her hair and left it down. She walked out of her bedroom and said "Dad? I have a swimming lesson tonight." Spencer nodded. Then Evvy said "Dad if we are going on the subway, we have to leave now." He nodded and then Gideon stepped in and said "Why don't I take you Evelyn. I have been waiting along time to see this so called fantastic swimming." Evvy responded with "Okay grandpa." She walked to the front door where the coat hooks and shoe rack. She grabbed her coat. And sat at the front door. About five minutes later Gideon got his things. Evvy opened the door and walked out without a word. As Gideon went to leave he turned to Spencer and said "She is just annoyed, she will be over it soon." 

Gideon and Evvy got into the car. He turned the radio down. Gideon said "Evelyn why are you so angry at your dad?" Evvy ignored him "Evelyn?" She continued looking out of the window trying to ignore him. She said "He left. He came back and isn't letting anyone help him. He needs help. He must get the help he needs because I need him to be okay I need my daddy back." She wiped a tear from her eye. Gideon said "That's what we are working on we are going to get your dad some help." She nodded. Once they got out of the car they headed inside the leisure centre. When they got to the changing room door Gideon said "Do you need me to come in and if so we gotta go in the men's." Evvy replied "No I am fine I just need you to wait outside So I can give you the key off the locker." Gideon said "Okay. Go get ready." She ran off into the women's changing room. She took off her trainers, track suit and put her flip flops on. She put her bag, clothes and shoes into a locker. She locked it and walked outside. She gave her key to her grandpa and instructed him on where to go. She went back into the changing room walked through and out to the swimming pool. She looked up and saw her Grandpa sat on the front row of the bleachers watching her. She walked over to the swimming lane. She started her lesson she looked up at her grandpa and he was smiling down at her.

Meanwhile at Spencer's: He finally agreed to get some help. But then he wanted to know what kind they were on about. JJ said "We are looking into it." He then agreed to look into it. He also wanted to say goodbye to Evvy if he was gonna leave. He saw not going to leave again without seeing Evvy. He loved her too much to do that to her. Even thought it would be extremely painful for them both. 

At the leisure Centre: Once Evvy had finished with her lesson she wrapped her towel around herself and headed to the changing rooms. She walked outside through the door and waited outside. Her grandpa gave her the key to the locker. She opened the locker and routed through her bag. She found her wash kit and got a shower. Once she was done she opened the locker again. Grabbed her bag, shoes and clothes out. She went into the private cubical. She grabbed her underwear and t-shirt out of her bag she got changed and put her shoes on brushed through her hair. She put everything in her bag and left the changing room. She walked outside and found her grandpa. Once Gideon saw her he said "You did wonderful Evelyn, Lets go home." She nodded he put his arm around her shoulders. They walked out of the leisure centre and got into the car. They drove off.

Once they got home Evvy rushed up the stairs. Opened the door, and hugged her dad. Spencer said "I am going to guess you had a good time at swimming." She nodded Gideon came in a couple of minutes later. He said "She was amazing. better than you described." Spencer laughed. Then Spencer said "Go get a shower and into some PJ's I'll get dinner sorted." Evvy nodded and ran off into her room.  She got showered and into PJ's by the time she came out there was three places set at the table with some mac and cheese in the middle. She sat at the table and so did her dad and grandpa. It felt like it did when she was younger. They ate there dinner like one happy family. Evvy was so glad she had her dad and grandpa both there with her. 

After dinner she helped her dad clear away and wash the dishes. A few hours later Spencer said "Evvy get yourself some supper and come sit on the sofa." She did as she was told. She got a biscuit and a glass of milk. She sat down on the sofa and placed her milk on the table, Spencer walked over to the bookshelf. Spencer turned around and looked at Evvy he asked "What book tonight darling?" She thought for a couple of minutes and then said "Can we read Shakespeare?" He looked at the bookshelf and said "How about tonight we read secret garden?" She smiled and nodded. He picked up secret garden from the bookshelf, then walked over and sat at the end of the sofa. Evvy snuggled down into her dad. He started reading while Gideon sat himself in the armchair. He watched the pair. He how Evelyn looked at her dad how her dad looked at her, listened to how Spencer read to Evvy. After a while Evvy fell asleep on her dad. Spencer reaction was perfect he had never seen Spencer look at anyone that way in his whole time knowing Spencer. He placed the book down and kissed the top of her head. He slowly lifted her off of him and then picked her. Spencer took Evvy to her room and placed her on her bed took of her slippers and jumper. Then he tucked her in. He kissed her on the top of his head and then walked out of the room. He left the door open a little bit and walked back into the living room. Spencer said "You can stay in the guest bedroom as long as you want." Gideon nodded. Spencer continued "I am going to bed now." Spencer left and went into his bedroom. He got a shower and into his PJ's and to bed.
