Reader's POV

"I've been thinking ever since I was thrown in here. Why did Mr. Minerva invite us to such a place? It never crossed your mind?"

Lucas said, Emma and I raised a brow.

"That maybe he's tricking us. That Mr. Minerva is really the enemy and that lettere was a trap to lure us here to the underground,"
Lucas smiled.

Emma and I both shivered in fear of the thought.
He chuckled.

"Haha, I guess you never doubted him. I got more suspicious after I found the door. More suspicious of his real intentions.
But I didn't have the pen. I gave up, thinking that I would never have the chance to see what's behind the door,"
he said, we continued to follow him, listening.

"But then you two arrived. We're here,"
he then said, lifting his lamp so the light shone on the door.

Morse code was written on the door, with the same owl.
" P E N "

{ The pen is the key. }

Emma opened the pen, then the door beeped twice.
Then a click.

We looked at each other then I nodded, trying the door knob. It opened.

A room full of monitors,
all different screens.
And a whole lot of different things.

{ What is this place? Temperature? Ventilation? Electricity, water, and sewage? A lot of things... A control room? Monitoring room?}

"Emma. Y/n. This room is-"
"Lucas! Y/n! Look over here!"
Emma called out.

We followed her and my eyes went wide with awe.
"A pond? And it's golden? Could this be..."
Lucas trailed off.

"Yeah this is probably... the Goldy Pond that was on the map. Our destination,"
I smiled.

The pen showed brightly.
" WELCOME TO GOLDY POND "

"Maybe Mr. Minerva invited us to come to this pond. Not the hunting ground."
Emma said.

{ Then why did this turn into a hunting ground? Where's Minerva now? What... happened? }

"Oh, look! That building!"
I said, a floating building caught my eye.

"What...?"
Lucas asks.

"It's floating?"
I said with awe.

Lucas dipped his hand in the water, I bent down and did the same.
"What's up with this water?"
He muttered.

"Yeah, it's weird."
Emma agreed.

"We can't touch it,"
I said, amazed.

It ignored my hand, splashed, and disappeared.

"What does this all mean?"
Lucas asked.

"I'm not sure..."
I said softly.
"Maybe it isn't actual water. But I am curious about the building."

"Yeah, let's go,"
Lucas agreed, and Emma nodded.

And so, we walked through the water.
It didn't touch us at all.

"This water isn't bad for us, right?"
Emma asked.

"I don't think so,"
Lucas and I said in unison.

We got onto the land where the building was.
And we didn't get wet at all.

Emma opened the door and we went inside.
I looked at the thing.
An elevator?

"This is..."
Emma trailed off.

"An elevator. It's a really old model, though."
Lucas said.

"Could it be... that we can go to the human world if we use it?
Is that it?"
Emma asked, I looked at it.

"No, that can't be,"
Lucas chuckled.

"I know right? After all the hardships... it can't be this easy at the end,"
Emma laughed.

"And via an elevator on top of all that!"
I added, and we all laughed.

Then it died down immediately after a few seconds.
"Well, it's not completely improbable. The letter said
"More than a safe place to live."
There should be a reason that there's an elevator here, the place Mr. Minerva told us to come. So maybe this is the way to go back and forth,"
Lucas said.

I stayed quiet, then looked at a, what seemed to be, control panel.
"It's worth a try."
I smiled.

"Let's try using it. We need to turn it on,"
Lucas said.

"Over here. There's a hole, morse code, and the owl,"
I said.

Emma walked over and read the code.
"Pen again"

"Does it mean we have to put it in the hole?"
Lucas asked.

I nodded.
"Most likely."

And so, Emma did.
A few noises, then the word "On" appeared on the screen.

The doors opened.
"It works?"
Lucas asks.

{ Please... please work. If we can go to the human world with this... }

It beeped.
" Failure "

"What? Failure?"
I asked, looking at it with wide eyes.

It moved! Then why didn't it-

Then, we heard a ringing noise.
"A phone...?"
