B06-32、パート3

Are you Satisfied?

~Reader's POV~

I never thought...
She would be my enemy.
I never thought...
demons were a thing.

I never knew...
how problematic the world is.

But I escaped,
I'm alive...
My friends are alive.

What more do I need?

~

"Welcome... To the BO6-32 Shelter,"
The man said with a slight grin.

{ It's a person. A human... A human!! But... he has no manners }

I watched as he gobbled down the cookies, disgusted.
Ray had the same expression.

I looked at the cup in his hand that he lifted to his lips.
It had a crack, it was broken.
He's drinking nothing.

I could tell everyone didn't expect this.

"Are you Mr. Minerva?"
Emma then stepped up.

His brows furrowed slightly,
his expression changed.
"Nope. Unfortunately for you... I'm not William Minerva."

"Then can you let us see him? We came here to talk to Mr. Minerva,"
Ray reasoned, keeping his hand in mine.

"He's not here,"
he said while munching on another cookie.
"Sorry 'bout that, but... Minerva's not here."

The kids' mouths dropped.
"Calm down,"
I said as I noticed it.

"So you know about Minerva too. Then can you tell us? Where is he right now?"
Ray asked.

The man burst into laughter.
"I have no idea!"
He said.

Ray's expression darkened.
"Who are you? What are you doing here?"

"Who am I? I'm your upperclassman,"
he said, taking out a pen that looked identical to ours.
(I'd call him senpai any day)

"He has the same pen!"
"Upperclassman?"

"Yeah, although not from Grace Field,"
The man, our upperclassman, said as he stood up and untucked his shirt.

He lifted it up and it showed his I.D. branding.
But... on his stomach?

"I escaped from a farm known as Glory Bell 13 years ago. With other kids. Using this pen as a guide,"
The man continued, putting his shirt back to how it was.

"He's the same."
"Just like us."

"That's right. Just like you kids...

I came here looking for Minerva,"
He told us.

{ An escapee.
And there's more...
Humans just like us... }

"However..."
He started, he was now sitting on the table.
"Even though we came, Minerva wasn't here. We waited and lived here, but he never appeared. I thought he was a freaking liar,"
He said, I saw he might've been holding back from cursing.

The kids agreed, making Ray and I sweatdrop.
"But... I appreciated this shelter,"
he smiled.

"Water, food, electricity, and space to live. All of that was here. Even information and materials about the world. Thanks to Minerva,"
he said giddily. The kids cheered.

{ Thirteen years... he hasn't shown up for that long? }

"And where are your friends now?"
Emma asked.

The smile on his face didn't disappear.
"They died. All of them,"
My heart dropped.
"Now, it's just me."

Emma's expression fell.
"Whoa, don't get depressed! It all happened a long time ago,"
He told us.

"Look. I've long given up on finding Minerva. And I'm living here happily,"
he smiled.

"What? You stopped looking for him?"
Chris asked.

"So what about you guys? Who the heck are you?"
he then asked.

I sighed.
"Oh. We're-"

"Hold it,"
He said.

"We're the 16 kids who escaped Grace Field seven days ago."
"You're the 16 kids who escaped Grace Field seven days ago."
We said in sync.

I narrowed my eyes at him and he did the same.
"No need to explain that,"
He then said, turning away from me, but he kept a suspicious look
"I already know that. It's obvious."

{ But how does he know? }

"What I'm asking... is how are you 16 newbie weaklings... still alive without dying?"
he asked.

Because we're main characters.

"Huh?"
"Listen. This is a shelter. Like I said... there's water, food, and rooms. But they're limited. I don't want my share to decrease. No way. I'm the senior. I got here first. This is my home,"
He explained.

"Besides... all of you will die. Eventually. Surely. Definitely. Because you're weak,"
He added.

I glared at him.
{ Sure, old man. We all die. It's not like you're immortal }

"That's not..."
Emma started.

"No, you're weak. I can tell. You've never stood on the edge of death.yet you think you can survive with just the most basic of basic knowledge. You're the very definition of ignorant and silly weaklings.
I guarantee it. All of you will die.
It's impossible for you to survive in this world."
He told us.

"Like your former companions?"
I asked, keeping a bitch face.

"Yup. they all died because they were weak. And only I survived. Only I was able to survive.
For 13 years. Just me.
I learned the way to survive."

The kids were scared.
"The way to survive?"

"Get rid of useless things.
Companions are useless.
Hope is useless.
Compassion is useless.
All of them. Unnecessary,"
he told us.

I grit my teeth, letting go of Ray's hand.
Emma was going to pull a reckless move,
and I have to save her from that.

She slammed her hands on the table.
"That's not true!"
she yelled.

He didn't look surprised.
"No, it's true."

He then reached for something behind him.
My eyes fixed on Emma.

"Move, idiot!"
I yelled at her. She looked back at me, but that was the only movement she did.

Then, I was grabbed.
I took a deep breath.

{ This is what I do for my friends... }

The gun was pressed to my head,
I was being held hostage.

I remained as calm as I could.
Even if he could kill me at any moment,
with either the gun or by suffocating me.

"Y/n!!"

Ray's expression fell and was a mix or anger and surprise.
He looked at me as if to say 'Don't do anything stupid'

and I gave him the same look in response.

Everyone else looked panicked.

"A group of chummy weaklings are the most useless. Hand it over,"
he said.

"The pen. The one you have. I'll take it so you can't get back in here.
I hate dead weight. So I'm sorry, but I need you to leave,"

No one moved.
I was held tighter causing me to wince and Ray to grit his teeth.

"Come on. Gimme the pen and go.
Or else... die here."

~

We would be together...
We would be together...
But you were taken...
