Reader's POV

Gilda protected everyone.

She was like the mom of us.

I was like the cool aunt, ya know?

While she went crazy trying to protect everyone, I reassured her and convinced her they'd be okay.

"Y/n,"
She called out, peeking into my room.

"Yeah?"
I groaned

"Have you taken the medicine today?"
she asked, entering the room with a tray of food.

"Maybe,"
I said.

"Yes or no?"
She asked, looking to the bottle of pills next to me.

"Or,"
I said, excitement showing in my eyes as I looked at the waffles.

"Yes, no,"
She said, narrowing her eyes at me.

Damn it.
"No,"
I admitted.

She sighed and opened the bottle of pills, handing two to me.

"No,"
I said with disgust.

And thus, it began.

Gilda tried to force me to swallow them, and it ended in me swallowing them because she almost choked me.

Nonetheless, we were both tired at the end.

I glared and her and hugged her tightly.
"I don't need pills, I need you,"
I grumbled.

"W-What?"
she asked, her body tensing.

I grinned, chuckling.

She sighed softly.
"Get rest, Y/n,"
She said.

I rolled my eyes and let go of her.
"I already did."
I stated.

"Then get more."
She ordered.

"Then get more,"
I mocked.

"Y/n,"
She spoke in a dangerously low voice.

"Gildy,"
I copied, smirking.

She took a deep breath, let it out, then left.

I frowned as the feeling of emptiness washed over meh.

Gilda visited the next day and told me about the dance.

She wanted me to be her partner for it.

I looked at the card.
"Hmmmm sounds good. I'll go with you,"
I said with a smile.

Her face lit up and she nodded.
"Thank you. Thank you!"
She exclaimed, hugging me tightly.

I chuckled and ate my pancakes, hugging her back.

She smiled happily.
I laid my head on her shoulder and read more of the information.

"Do I have to wear a dress?"
I asked.

"I wanna wear a tux,"
I then added.

"I guess you could,"
Gilda said, putting her hand to her chin.

"Yay!!"
I smiled, kissing her forehead.

She stuttered out some random words then called me an idiot for kissing her forehead.

I giggled and ate my cookie with a satisfied smile.

I looked at the limo with wide eyes.

"Woahhhh!! So pretty! I bet it's engine goes woooooosh then break goes bam!!"
I exclaimed

Gilda sighed softly, grabbing her dress and holding it up so she won't trip over it.

"I've got the door!"
I said, rushing over before she could reach it

I opened it and gave her a grin.

She smiled slightly and climbed in.

The man next to us tried to hop in and sit next to her.

I barked at him.
"She's my date, pal. Back off,"
I said, flipping him the bird and sitting next to Gilda.

"Y/n! You didn't need to do that,"
Gilda said with wide, flustered eyes

"You're my date,"
I grumbled.

She smiled softly, her cheeks tainted red.
She took my hand and rested hers in it.
And it felt like the world had stopped spinning.

We arrived to the dance hand in hand.

I looked around with bright eyes.

"So much expensive things!!!"
I exclaimed.

Gilda facepalmed.

"Come on, Y/n,"
She said softly, pulling me away.

"Gilda!"
A man's voice called out.

I scrunched up my nose.
Men...

"Oh hey!"
Gilda smiled.

She smiled...

I turned and glared at the person who got closer and closer to us.

"Y/n, this is my friend, don't bark at him,"
She whispered to me.
I saw some hesitation with the word 'friend'.

I grit my teeth, standing defensively as I looked at him.

"Jake, this is Y/n. Y/n, this is Jake,"
She introduced us.

My heart dropped as I thought of Jake.
The kid I couldn't save...

My face must've showed discomfort because Gilda gave me a worried look.

"Nice to meet you, Y/n,"
He smiled, giving me a hug.

I stayed tense.

The kid I couldn't save.
He died.
He died and I couldn't save him.
Monica, I couldn't save her either.

He soon pulled away sheepishly.
"Sorry, that's just my way of greeting friends of my friends!"
He apologized.

My heartbeat increased, and not for any good reasons.

I took a deep shaky breath.

"Pleasure to meet you as well. I'm going to sit down.. you two have fun,"
I said, turning on my heel and heading to the restroom.

I rushed into one of the stalls and slumped to the floor.

I wanted to cry. But I just sat there, thinking about everything I've done wrong.

I couldn't save them...

The door burst open.
"Y/n! Are you in here?"
Gilda asked.

"Here,"
I muttered. She rushed to my stall with a frown.

She looked at me and sat down in front of me.

"Y/n... what happened?"
She asked.

"Jake, at Goldy Pond, I couldn't save him,"
I muttered.

Her eyes widened.
"Oh, Y/n.. I'm so sorry, I didn't know,"
She murmured.

I shook my head.
"It's fine. I'm just making a big scene out of it. Go dance and have fun,"
I said.

"Not without you,"
She stated stubbornly.

I glanced around.
No one else was in here.
I frowned.

"Y/n... I care about you. I love you lots. I don't want you to be sad, I hate seeing you sad..."
She murmurs.

"That day.. the day we thought you died along with Yuugo and Lucas, I felt so sick. I thought I wouldn't be able to be happy anymore. Because you made me happy. You gave me so much to live for. You're everything to me,"
She said with a soft smile, holding my hand.

My eyes widened and I glanced to the floor.

"Don't lie to make me happy..."
I murmured.

She frowned.
"Fine then.. come on, I'll show you."
She said with a smile.

I narrowed my eyes at her but nodded and took her hand, letting her lead me out of the restroom.

A determined look crossed her face as she led me to the middle of the floor.

We started to dance.

I looked at her skeptically but went along with it.

I spun her around, then she stopped as the music did.

"Everyone!"
She called out loudly.

Where the hell did she get the mic?!

"I wanted to say that I am in love with this woman here!"
She said.

...
What?

Although she had to get on her tippy toes, she patted my head.

"Thank you! That's all I wanted to say!"
She finished.

I guess Gilda could be the crazy aunt at times as well

Jake clapped and cheered, soon more people did

I stood there in a trance, blinking with confusion.

"Gilda.."
I started

"Yes?"
She asked.

"I love you too."
I stated.

She smiled brightly, fixing her glasses on the bridge of her nose and hugging me tightly.

"I love my sunshine,"
I muttered.
