18] Prepared

Book 3} Chapter 18
Prepared
準備

"But I'm surprised," Norman said as we went down the stairs.
"What do you mean?" I asked him. Emma was rushing down the stairs, Ray behind her, and Norman and I behind both of them.

"It's expected from Ray, who's reading books all the time... "
"But, Emma, for you to notice those bookplates too," Ray added for Norman.

"I didn't," she said happily.
"Huh?" I asked.
"I wasn't the one who noticed them. Phil found them and told me," Emma told us.

"Phil?" Norman asked.
"Yup! A children's book he was reading was Mr. Minerva's. And it was a book that had Morse code in the story. So I looked at the other books too," Emma explained.

"Now it all makes sense," Ray said with a smirk.

"Huh? What's that supposed to mean..." Emma said as we entered the dining room.
I looked around, "Where are Don and Gilda?" I asked.

They said they would go prepare dinner...

Norman searched for them.
"They're no in the pantry either!" he told us.

Then could they...?!
I turned around to see them both there. I sighed in relief.
"Don. Gilda," I said in relief.

"Good! I thought you'd—"
"Where'd you guys go?" Ray asked, cutting me off as he put his hand in front of me.

The kids looked at us with curiosity.
"The others will notice. Let's talk later," Norman told us.

Time Skip

"So?"
The dining room was now empty leaving us 6.

"We went into the secret room. It led to a basement," Don told us.
"How did you get in?!" Emma exclaimed.
"Don pickpocketed the key, and—"
"From Mom?!" Emma exclaimed, cutting Gilda off.

"And? Did Mom...?" Norman asked with worry.
"I don't think she noticed. We returned the key already too. So probably..." Gilda said.

Ray's eyes narrowed as his arms were crossed.
"You two acted stupidly. What if that room was equipped with either a camera, a bug, or an alarm? If Mom or Sister Krone found out... you two... No, actually all of us would be," Ray paused.

"What? Tell us what would happen," Don said with a slight glare, "Are we going to get killed?" he asked. I was intimidated since he was right in front of me.

"What..." Emma muttered.
"You lied to us. Your "I don't know" and "Let's go save them" was bull. We can't go help them. Because Conny... Conny and everyone else are already..." he tried to say as he grit his teeth.

"Sorry. I'm so sorry," Emma said as she looked down.
"So they're really... Told you, Gilda. I knew they were lying. What are you hiding?" he asked. I didn't step down as he moved closer to me.
"Tell us the whole truth," he demanded.

I looked into his eyes and then narrowed them.
Then, we told them the truth.

"What? Demons? A farm?" they asked in shock. Gilda had her mouth covered.

"And also... Ray's a spy? All this time?" Don asked.
"It was for our sake," I cut in.

"Then, Ray... you knew what was going to happen to Conny that day? And, Norman, Emma, Y/n, you both tried to lie to us to take us into a world full of enemies?" Don asked then burst out laughing.

"You can't be serious!" he shouted as he punched Norman.
"Hey, Don!" Ray growled, only for Don to punch him next.
"Don, calm down," I said warily.

He turned to me quickly.
"Don't tell me to!" he shouted as he also punched me. I winced as I fell to the ground.
"Don!" Gilda exclaimed. He grabbed Emma by her shirt.

"Are we that much of a burden? Are we that weak and useless to you... that you feel the need to protect us?" Don asked as he buried his face in his hands.

I looked at him with a sadness. I could understand how he felt. Not that I knew exactly how that was.
"I know why you would lie. It was all to protect us, right? But... I thought you were relying on us," he said.

Norman held me in his arms to comfort me as he rubbed his cheek.
"I feel frustrated... and pathetic. Sure, we're not as smart as you guys. We're not, but... aren't we family? Aren't we siblings? I just want you to have a little faith in us!" Don exclaimed.

"Sorry! I'm acting a little weird right now. I'm going to cool off," he apologized as he left the room. Gilda followed him.

I looked down with guilt.
"I didn't mean to, but... Did I really not have faith in them?" Emma asked softly.

"Well, you certainly don't think of them as equals. But you were prepared for whatever they were going to say, right? When you decided that we were all escaping," Ray responded.

"Yeah, but..." Emma muttered.

"I'm going to go apologize to Don and Gilda! I was wrong. I was prepared for them to be mad, but I wasn't prepared to believe in them. I was naïve. I'm sorry. I need to go tell them that," Emma said. I wish I had her confidence...

She then left the room.

Norman x Reader Canon Moments!
(Who do you want next?)

I laid on the bed next to Norman as we were both sick. Once again.

"I'm sick of being sick," I groaned as I looked around the room.

Norman smiled, "It's alright, Y/n. At least you're not alone," he told me.

I smiled, "Yeah. At least I'm not alone," I replied.

"Norman..." I called out as I had my head on my knees and my arms wrapped around myself.

I had mental breakdowns. They had started happening ever since I was like four. I know, seems hella weird and something that a Y/n always has.
But Mom told me that I had some mental problems.

Norman was the only one who knew about them, seeing has he walked in on me having one once.

And so, he's been my comfort when I had one.

It isn't fun. I get headaches, my eyes hurt, cheeks, throat. I would get all shaky that I couldn't stand up straight.

(That this from someone who has had 3 mental breakdowns in 1 month. Don't fake it. Take this from someone who has laughed at themselves in the mirror nonstop for about 15 minutes straight. Who has no control of their thoughts the whole time. Who has felt like they didn't have control of their own body and mind. I kept on falling down because I was shaking too much.
Who was in pain for the next 2 days in a row.  And from someone who was scared that it could happen again. Hell, I was even scared of myself.

It is not fun and you should not try to put yourself in this place. Yes, I've gone to counseling don't be that person and be like "Stop putting this on an app and get real help." Just don't hurt yourself. And if you neee to talk, just message me.)

The bathroom door opened and Norman rushed in. He quickly took me in his arms.

"I'm s-sorry," I choked out as I shook in his arms.
"It's okay. It'll be okay," he told me as he let me rest my head on his chest.

He had his arms wrapped around me and his head on mine.
He ran his hand through my hair and tried calming me down.

When I finally did, my breathing was uneven and I was scared.

Not scared of what would happen to me. But scared if I would get more of these... things.

I lifted my head to look up at Norman.
To see if he was fed up with me already.

Instead of complaining, he gave me a smile.
That's when I fell in love with his smile.

"Moooom. Can I stay with Norman today?" I asked her as I walked around her.

She steadied me, placing her hands on my shoulders to stop me.
She chuckled, "You really like being around Norman, don't you?"
Pink tinted my cheeks.
"He's my best friend..."

"Of course," she said with a smile.
She lead me to the room he was in doing chores.

"Y/n?" He asked with confusion.
"She wanted to help you with chores," Mom told him.
"Well, only if you want me here that is," I said as Mom took her hands away from me.

"Oh, sure! I could use help," he told me.
I smiled and detached myself from Mom, going to him.

"Thank you, Mom!" I told her as she left.
Norman told me what he needed help with, and we got to work.

By the end, I was exhausted. Norman, not too much.
"Hey, Norman," I called out.
"Yes?" He asked.
"Can you give me a piggyback ride?" I asked with a slight smirk.

He eyed my curiously.
"Sure," he agreed.

I smiled. I skipped over to him and climbed onto his back.
"This is what you get for making me do most of the work! Walk around the room 5 times," I ordered playfully, not that I meant it.

He sweatdropped.
"Of course, Queen Y/n," he said as he started walking.

"Y/n, that's abuse," Ray said when he walked in the room while Norman was walking around twice.

"I deserve it," Norman joked.
Ray gave him a look.
"Fiiiine, geez," I said hopping off of Norman's back.

"You're light," he told me as he pulled my cheek.
"You're lazy," I told him.
"You're weird."
"You're also weird."
"You're too quiet."
"You're too loud-ish."
"You're short."
"I'm an inch shorter!"
As we argued, Norman caught me off track by kissing my forehead.
"Short," he remarked with a smile.

My cheeks heated up.
"Meany."
